- Persuing my brother in the Mini JCW F56 +-250HP on standard tires in my 225HP GT86 on Advan AD08R tires. The torque on this 2.0 turbo Mini is quite crazy!
I hang out in the friendly car scene with tons of friends, have a much older R53 with just a 17% pulley reduction. Straight lines may not be their strongest point, but even my old mini never lost to any of the modded GT86s in a straight line. Driver of the GT86 is clearly a much more advanced driver.
The driver of the JCW Mini may be new to the track. I can tell the confidence level of the driver of the GT86 is quite high seeing how he shifts. However, there is no way a GT86 can hang with a JCW Mini.

You are right, looks like the GT86 driver is very experienced compared to the flashing rear-braking lights of the JWC :)
Mini is faster on the straights, 86 is faster in the corners
@@localdrummerweb nope I've drove both this weekend, we've measured a faster corner speed and g force on the brz, both cars on same tires (this is probably due to the brz/86 lower center of gravity and 50/50 weight distribution). The only point the mini was superior while cornering was on exit due to its higher torque.
@@danielsoto_toronto For all but the most talented drivers, FWD cars are faster in the corners because of grip, and, of course, having more torque helps, too.

That MINI with better tyres and a suspension upgrade, could go much faster.

@@calvin3448 Yea, I used to lift a tire just going around the side streets around my house in my mini, much less on a racetrack, haha.
If the Mini wasn't breaking unnecessarily you wouldn't have stood a chance tbh.

This was supposed to be our warm-up lap. First lap in the morning. This privately owned brand new MINI was on stock 205 wide stretched runflat tires. Obviously not the best combination on the ring and already passed its performance half-way the track. Hence being a bit more careful. Today the car has clubsport suspension and 290bhp/420Nm. As soon as the tires are worn, they'll be replaced with better ones. It's quite a pocket-rocket. It will be interesting to see how it does now with all the go-fast stuff!

I reckon you have the edge on the majority of the corners due to the FR layout. Yeah the straights matter but your car wasn't that far behind ....
The Mini has more power but a too soft suspension. The car sways and roll nicks on ground waves and in curves.

Lot of love for Minis on these Nurbugring videos! Even when they're up against Porsches and Ferraris! Why is that???? I have a Mini JCW myself, but I've never considered it a fast car really, I mean it's pokey! But I wouldn't dream about pulling up to Nurbugring thinking I'm the dogs bollocks xD

Yesterday i got my first Mini, not as fast as the JCW but a Cooper S with the JCW package

Played out just as expected the mini has more power but the chassis on the 86 is definitely better. Well driven by both drivers
The driver of the Mini is probably less experienced or lacks confidence in his car. He was braking too much that the 86 was riding his @$$ all the way. Granted the Mini is not strong in the straights but, he could have lost the 86 in the curves. Great driving for both drivers and thanks for the upload.
I think the 86 is a lot better taking on those corners, the f56... It's fast acceleration give you that. But prolly cuz it weighs less than the 86

What did you change to get the extra 25hp from your engine? It isn´t a supercharger or a turbocharger, isn´t it?
Not a bad car, but on stock runflat tires so very limited in the corners. I have a dyno video on my channel which shows all the performance mods, check it out!

I use the Michelin PS4 (very good). But didn´t change anything to the engine or exhaust system... not yet :-)
I am considering the PS4 as the Yokohama's are coming to their end but I'm afraid the grip will not be up to the standard of the AD08R.
I am quite happy with them. But I can´t judge about the racetrack performance of the PS4 neither the AD08R...
As an alternative there are still the Super Sports and the (semi) slicks...

MINI is a much faster car and no way a 86 can overtake it (unless it has lots of engine mods). The MINI driver may be new to the track. Standard tyres also have very poor performance on the track especially when tyre temperature getting high
JCW can go far more ahead of 86, this JCW driver is probably a newbie?

Only reason this was any type of battle is cos the driver of the jcw was awful!!! The cooper s is much faster than a gt86, but props to the gt86 driver , cool vid😎

Your driving positon really is completely wrong
Turbo gt86 will dust off any turbo mini cooper any day. He wasnt "unnecessarily braking" mini cooper can barely take those turns. In a race, the 86 can easily cut through while the turbo cooper is braking to the apex. What ever boost you put in the mini cooper, the 86 can handle even more. Mini coopers cant take turns like the 86. If you wide body a mini cooper, the 86 can have a wider body. You get the point, nice warm up lap btw👌
225 HP, how? Exhaust and intake? Ignition? Injection?

V. Carijn checked it out, Thx. Planing to ditch my fairlady 370z away to get a gt86.. But I'm missing like 20-50 HP on the 4ugse. Curious weather or not your mods are legal I'm Germany.... I'll have to figure out. But car looks very Smooth, nothing compared to the 370 boat.. I testdrove the GT once and felt in love.
Right, Germany is not a bad country to be in in terms of modding your car. As long as there is a TUV sign on it which is found on most of the aftermarket performance parts anyway. You can even put a turbo/supercharger TUV legal in Germany giving the car 280+ (easy) hp. Sure as hell would be a little beast.
Mini has got 30Cv more than GT86 and it costs just 2000€ more
But has a lot more of torque
