    Questions:
    1. Is it possible to add additional file to a folder after it has been encrypted?
    2. Can this encrypted file be send to “one drive” ? If possible/yes, will the file remain encrypted when send to “One drive” ?
    Thanks

      You're able to add another file/folder into an encrypted folder but you have to know the password, then you're able to edit the file since you have administrator on. Second question : yes, you can put encrypted files into other hard drives such as usb but even on a second computer, you'll still need the password
      THE ENCRYPTED FILES WON'T WORK ON OTHER OS. if you encrypted something on lets say : Windows 10, Mac or linux may even br unable to recognise the file type

    Very interesting, thanks a lot to share. A little doubt ... Its possible to encrypt a folder or a file and distribute it to external user with a certificate ?

    • @KnowledgeSharingTech
      @KnowledgeSharingTech  3 года назад +1

      Could be but it is a hassle for the user to import the certificate. Why don't you zip the file or folder with a strong password and text the receiving party the pwd?

      I just tried this with the cloud solution "Hidrive". The file was encrypted on my PC, but on my husband's PC I could open the file just fine. I assume that its not the file that is encrypted, but the access? Because if the file was encrypted, it should not be possible to open it anywhere, right?! Makes me wonder what happens if someone took out my hard drive and took the file from there.

    What I was searching for is a way to password protected files such that everyone has to enter password to open the files and can lock them back after using them. I want the functionality of Solid Explorer .sec files but without creating a duplicate file that is encrypted but instead directly encrypting the original files.
    Is there any file manager application for Windows that does that?

      This is normal behavior, this method is only to encrypt files on the same Windows installation. Once you copy them to another installation, they are decrypted automatically if you perform the copy with the same user that you used to encrypt them.

    I encrypted a file on my pc, but when I saved the file on an external hard drive (after encryption), I had no problems opening it on another account. I suspect that its not the file that gets encrypted, but the access on the user account.
    P.S.: I did some tests and apparently, copy + pasting the encrypted folder with hand leads to the folder staying encrypted, but moving it to the hard drive with the backup tool sync toy leads to the result that the folder is no longer encrypted, I can open it without problems from another account, its super strange. I am really shocked that a backup tool messes with the encryption, because it basically means someone can remove the encryption just by making a backup, what the heck?!
