      Oh the Aldebaran is a high end reel from Shimano. The last version was 2016 and this one is pretty interesting. Going to one of the most versatile BFS reel that handles the super light and heavier end of the finesse world. Yeah I have removed it before... The worst thing that happened was a fish took the lure and I have to reel it in lol... So I keep it on so I can quickly get the lure in.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  2 года назад +1

      BFS is certainly on the rise. I hope that this time, it will break out the niche phase. The last 4-5 years, I have seen it on a consistent rise, but only time will tell.
      I will try it on several rods to see where it fits best. I plan on using it on an L rod and ML rod at the highest. I think this reel will shine really well for UL and L given the small spool and how well it casts light lures. I am curious on casting distance for heavier lures on a longer rod tho. The small diameter may reduce some casting distance as it may not dispense as much line per rotation. I guess there is a price to pay for everything!
      yeah i'll break out the kayak. afterall, that's where I love to fish off of most :P

      I couldn't use a oring hook keeper on my ul parobolic action rods but were fine with ml rods.

    Clamber Hyper Micro kill this one. Also the O rings are just a pain to set your spool tension.
    Overall, weak improvements or none compared to 2016 aldebaran.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  2 года назад

      Hmnmm... I feel that Out of the box, the aldebaran 2022 wins hands down when put against the Clamber. It wasn't until i upgraded to micro bearings on the Hyper Micro before I can throw down to 1 gram. The aldebaran can do .8 grams as portrayed.
      I am not sure how the O rings hinder on the tension knob settings. Can you elaborate so I can play with it as well?
      Although one can compare the 2016 to the 2022 in anyway they want, I like to say the two reels are two different classes. What I mean is that BFS reels have no standards compared to say a Spinning reel (size 500, size 1000, etc). I feel that Shimano revamped the Aldebaran so It can go lighter as that's where the trend is currently is at (going for the lighter lures). I am going to test this reel on several different rods to see where it sits best. But, when it comes to casting, I do feel that the 2016 braking have been a lot friendlier to a hard caster like me. I hope in time, I can learn how to tame the new 2022 reel!

    • @StaFfazean
      @StaFfazean 2 года назад +1

      I have the clamber, changed the stock bearings with ceramic(orange seal ones) and that reel works extraordinary well with lures from 1.5g ++.
      On the other hand, i did few casts with new aldebaran stock (from a friend) and don't get me wrong, it's a good reel but probably i had higher expectation from it so mby thats why i didnt was so surprised.
      About the o rings, if you loose the tension knob, those O rings keep the spool without having that side to side play, i mean you need to know what you are doing cuz you may fish with a loose spool and feels like is set correctly. Hope you understand what im trying to say, my english is not that great. 🙂
      Keep up the good work. I'm still not convinced if i wanna order one since 95% of my lures that im throwing are between 2.5 - 6g.

    • @rawrfishing
      @rawrfishing  2 года назад

      thanks man! Yeah i have mine set properly, but i can see what you mean as the rings does help keep it in place a bit, but potentially may more if it's too lose and spinning fast.
      I normally throw lures 2.5g to 6 grams as well. I only go lighter for trout in streams, but most lures i throw, even for panfish and crappies are around 2.5 to 3 grams.
      I want to test this reel out for larger lures eventually. I am curious how far it can handle heavier lures for distances with the smaller spool.
