@derek9746 There have been many who had Tommy John surgery and came back better. However, we can't deny that it's Ohtani's second Tommy John, so I don't see it affecting him much if any, but only the future will tell if he can keep playing like how he did with the Angels, because if he does keep playing like he did, he will most likely need a third Tommy John and 3 strikes means he's out.
@derek9746 age, the players output before TJ, the teams dynamic, the coach's decision, the recovery process, etc. Many things come into play into why the pitcher never comes back. Ohtani still has everything to be great at pitching. He's only 30. He was great at pitching before his second TJ. The team still needs another solid starter. The team has already signed him up be a 2 way player. He also has says he's recovering good.

It is just a miracle that he started playing from the beginning of this season.
Moreover, he needed to handle many changes and difficulties including the scandal of his former interpreter.

I played Outfield all my life. There are certain batters that have extra carry in their fly balls. And they gave me the most trouble because I wouldn't know until seeing a barrel from them. I don't think it's only their strength but how the bat makes contact. I believe how the arm rotates the bat on contact made the difference. It's kinda like adding extra spin to the ball. Same concept for outfield throw. You want to backspin the throw for the extra distance. OF gets the blame for misjudge, but sometimes that's what happened, the ball just flies differently for some of these elite batters.
When the ball flies in the opposite direction, it means his full recovery.
Only reason why I watch baseball🦄

his hitting this year will be scary, he can focus more on it and still get his arm healthy to pitch again when he is able too (unsure when that will be) but his hitting power is just unreal.
Best top of the lineup (1 thru 4) that I've ever seen. Lowest BA is .345. Three potential MVP candidates. That's an All-Star lineup in one team. It's not fair.
