- In this video, we delve into the remarkable world of Constance Spry, the grand dame of floral design. Her influence on the floral industry during the 40s, 50s, and 60s was truly inspiring. Known for her boundary-breaking approach, she famously stated, "the difference between a weed and a flower is merely an opinion." Spry found beauty in the most unexpected places, incorporating texturally interesting and visually stimulating elements into her arrangements.
Join us as we create a boat or crescent shaped arrangement-perfect for adding a visual lift to your coffee table, side table, or any space that needs a touch of elegance. To create this arrangement, we'll be using a boat-shaped shallow dish container packed with chicken wire to secure the blooms.
Gather these materials for the design:
2 stems of green butterfly hydrangea
2 tea or spray white roses
1 large white hydrangea
2 monsteria or similar leaves.
Discover the timeless beauty and creativity of Constance Spry's floral design as we bring her legacy to life!

Love this.. a story starting to happen... Fabulous Astar
Hey Astar! I’ve just bought a vase or as Brian calls it Napoleons hat just like yours and I’m chomping at the bit to use it! I’ll keep you posted!
Very pretty. It would make a nice center piece with white unscented tapered candles. Thanks Astar
I love that Astar! ❤ I just spied growing in my backyard wild Ferns and these pom pom type flowers, I'm going to make an arrangement and buy some roses or peonies from the market then add in some of these wild flowers ❤
Dear Astar you are my guide and source of inspiration. You are the best so far. I live in Italy but you are as near as it can be. ❤
I'm always here to help. If you get stuck just DM to my @astarsplace instagram. Via chats solves issues quickly. Warm regards Astar
Loved it; thank you. I'm going to find a Constance Spry book and try to read up on her worldview. I live in Toronto Canada and I have been using artificial floristry in the winter. Love your channel.
Thanks alot Astar..Amazing tutorial works which helps to enhance creativity skills.God bless you.
My pleasure 😊
Another beautiful green and white arrangement!!! It really is so refreshing to the eye! I’m going to look up Constance Spry because I do love vintage design! Always a visually stimulating respite on your channel! 💐
I looked up Constance Spry and low and behold there your video was. lol. I love this arrangement. My mum was a florist and during the learly 60's she had a time of experimenting with Ikebana. This sort of loosely resembles it I am thinking? Also is the rule odd numbers work better than even still apply today? I am really enjoying your videos.
Thank you.
You're welcome!
