How To Make A Classic All Round Arrangement

- We had to make this design for the entrance to a large restaurant, where it would sit on a table as people enter. It will be seen from both sides, so creating a round base of mixed foliage is the perfect way to show off these lovely New Orleans roses. The eucalyptus lightens the foliage and is the perfect partner for the lilac flowers. Why not use your own favourite rose and create a design like this to give it pride of place?
Ingredients 1 x urn base, wet floral foam, designer bowl, mixed foliage featuring fatsia, pistache, leatherleaf fern, French ruskus, and 21 beautiful New Orleans roses.

I love the use of a variety of greenery. It makes an arrangement look incredibly lush and classy.

Tram Nguyen you could buy a turntable in a kitchen shop - it’s good for cakes as well as flowers! They can be made if you have DIY skills or I have seen them in Ikea.

Dawn Eustace no - but I can visualise that. I once had to create a floral top for a coffin with a domed top, so I joined two triple trays together and worked flowers into that. You have to know that it will go into a hearse as well, so I had to keep the flowers pretty tight.
I am intrigued to see a picture of one, and how it might be made. I love mechanics 😀

what do u think about using nadina as greens...i.got lots of it..love.how its kinda lacy...it doesn't wilt ever and i personally love it..mine changes.colors too....but would.a.florist get all snooty about it?...would it be obvious im an amateur cause i used.it? Why does no one use it? ...i also have lots of.beautiful cedar...in a.grey.color....i m gotta grow me some of that varigated pittisorum...i priced some shrubs and my goodness....im gonna have to grow it out..i really think the greens are what make an arrangement whenninuse to get all distracted by thr flowers...odd how your eye changes.....and.wanted to.let u know i have had at least one fresh flower arrangement every day since i started watching u about three months ago!!!
I bought me an urn just like the one u used here today...just waiting for my latest sunflower arrangement fade some more. Tho mine is plastic and so light weight i think ill find a few rocks for it.

Yes, just now people are moving more towards Garden foliage - commercial foliage is good, and can be used as a base, but something different will lift an arrangement and make it more special. I think you are finding that commercial suppliers need a couple of years to catch up when things change.

Fab. I have got an all foliage urn to make for a wedding in a few weeks and it’s my first one ever. Roughly how many stems of each were used? I tried to count as you were going but lost count half way.
MrsMcCall that is difficult to say - depends on your foliage that you have. Why not have a couple of practise goes before the actual wedding one - that way you can so,be any problem, or feel more confident on the day.
Normally for a pedestal I would use a whole bunch of leatherleaf fern, a bunch or a half bunch of salal and maybe a half of eucalyptus - then anything Garden becomes the highlight on top of that base foliage 😀

What is the diameter of the foam container and of the opening of the urn? What is the height of the urn?
libraryalexandria the diameter of the foam container is approx 12 inches or 30 cm. The same for the Urn, and the height is approx 45 cm or 18 inches.
The dish is an oasis product. It’s called the designer bowl.

Keimara Blake ah, I’m sorry I don’t. You just need to check the width of the designer bowl and the width of the top of the urn. As long as the bowl sits over thus edge then it’s good.
If you see them in a wholesalers then you can do an actual check with a bowl as well. Best regards, John 😀

This is the second round arrangement that you did where you left a gaping hole, and there was no rose
Maybe you need to step back a bit when you’re rotating that and taking a good look at it so you can see what I’m seeing

Hello! The reason is that it does like dry warm air - it won’t last as long as other choices, so for a display that you want to last a good time it’s better to use something else. But for event or function displays then it’s no problem! 😀
How clever to arrange in the bowl and place the bowl in the top of the urn! The roses add so much! It is just beautiful!

Red roses and baby’s breath would be good - it’s a striking combination. I would suggest adding a few bigger red flowers into your arrangements - roses themselves are not big, so something big to draw the eye is a good idea - like big gerbera or anthurium , then your roses are the thing people see next.
One more thing, what the name of the first long leafs you make them stand on the top of the foam . I don't think I can order those leaves at Sam's club or Costco.Thank you sir for fast response, thank you very much for the great tips ,I am going to use the shallow dish and double foam like you did, it makes sense.
