I learned about Lords of The New Church because of the Dead Boys. I'm 42 years old...but I'm still in shock/amazed that the music they made (songs like "All this and More" "Caught with the meat in your mouth" "ain't it fun" and "Not Anymore" etc..etc) were being recorded in the late 70's. Stiv Bators vocals/lyrics were both way ahead of their time and *timeless. Any other Dead Boys Fans commenting? I'm just curious. I feel like they never get anywhere NEAR the amount of credit/admiration/recognition that they deserve, as groundbreaking artists in the first wave of American punk rock. I put them right up there with the Misfits/Ramone's. They're better than the Dead Kennedys imo...and better than the Circle Jerks and Bad Brains. Anyone else wonder why the Dead Boys don't get mentioned as much as those other bands? I love all those bands, and they paved the way for my generation of punk bands that I love (Rancid, Social Distortion, Nofx, Offspring, Swingin Utters,)
I only just heard this for the first time last night on the Stiv documentary on Netflix and I couldn't stop rewinding and replaying it all night *Awesome song and notes*
@@ivybator6167 it's called "Stiv No Compromise No Regrets" on Netflix. It's a really good watch. I'd never heard of him before, but he seemed like a really cool guy from what I saw in the documentary
The Lords of the New Church were my absolutely favourite band for many years .Stiv Bator my “Teenie-Love” ,and still I get shivers on my spine hearing and seeing them ✌🏼❤️ I saw them live in Hamburg /Germany in the Eighties.
First visit in Japan. I raised the catering sandwich when I raised myself to be crushed in the front row. Johnny thunders was also drunk but enjoyed the band from abroad
Never saw them live, sadly...My mom didnt let me go and see them with Hanoi Rocks and Johnny Thunders on a same festival bill as I was underaged and it was a midsummer festival with lots of drunken finnish people. I was so sad and angry I remember...My wife saw them and Im glad she did❤️ It was a gig In Tampere with Dingo headlinging.
Si yo los vi en directo .. en la saka 666 y en el KGB .. Barcelona ... en el 666 estaban en el maximo esplendor .. concierto mitico .. en KGB fue posterior .. Stiv estaba ya muy jodido .. pero fueron grandes ..
Absolutely great. I met them all once and they were very nice. I met Stiv a few times and he was great. Who is the drummer? Anyone know? Different than Nick Turner who played on all their albums.
1. Stiv was royally blasted. 2. Stiv did impossible stage stunts. 3 Danny was a beast on drums. 4. The crowd looked like they wanted to eat Stiv alive. 5. Brian was cool, calm, collected and brilliant. 6. The roadies deserved a raise after this, 7. Dave was in a world of his own and served complete cunt energy. Unbelievable performance, especially since the LAST SONG ended up with Stiv pulling the drum kit onto himself, passing out, and Dave throwing his guitar on him, before the roadie carried Stiv offstage. GREAT SHOW. THIS IS REAL PUNK ENERGY.

I didn't realise the lyrics were so what political ? Better dead than alive my guess. How silly ! This is pure romantic craft from a pure romantic soul the rest don't belong to anyone else but Steve Bators. Oh and for pure diversion' sake, the guitar solo has been inspired from what's name you know the guy from Siouxsie and the Banshees, the scottish one, the sound is there and i guess its a kind of salute thing nothing else.
Tried so hard to like them but they just suck so bad. Charismatic and visually stunning but as a live band they couldn't hold a tune to save their life.
from a Dead Boy to a Lord... Stiv was the greatest
Amen🙏
One of my favourite bands of all time. Was lucky enough to see them live a couple of times, we just don't have bands like this any more. RIP Stiv.
I saw them in Berkeley CA, 1985. It was phantastic
Lucky you I was on the sponsored vacation. Through the '80s I would love to see them GREAT STUFF!! STIV IS THE💣R.I.P.COOLDUDÉ😎🖤👏🏻☝️🤘
Exactly! I was at their concert in Berceley California in 1985!
They are fricken GREAT!!! I love them. Never did get to see them live. 😢

Love Tregunna's snarling bass and backing vocals. Raw power. Great fun.

pure, unadulterated rock
The part where he threw.the tambourine across the room and really got into it. Was. Awesome
that was a great band.
Nicholas Brewer this is an great band...
miss you Stiv!
I love this version better than the album version

Saw them in Palo Alto California on this tour. Brings back good memories.

Great set!!!
Huge fan.

Great phantastic!
Granted, that fantastic recording is pretty hard to live up to.

Sort me out Dave 💝💝💝💝💝
Fantástico Stiv!
The music on this reminds me so much of "Hair of the Dog" by Bauhaus.
FANTÁSTICOS
"This is the Lord's prayer
This is the Lord's prayer
There's no saviour out there
There ain't no one else who cares
Don't look to me for absolution
There ain't no clandestine solution
Life's a crime of passion
Designed for direct action
There ain't no justice out there
This is the Lord's prayer
Without each other we're nowhere
This is the Lord's prayer
The lamb's been slaughtered
War's been declared
This is the Lord's prayer
Only the devil may care
This is the Lord's prayer
What we need is strength of purpose
To reverse all they thought us
If prejudice is all you learned in school
It's up to us to break the rules
I'll recruit a ragged army
Before I let your hatred scar me
There ain't no justice out there
This is the Lord's prayer
Without each other we're nowhere
This is the Lord's prayer
The lamb's been slaughtered
War's been declared
This is the Lord's prayer
Only the devil, only the devil may care
This is the Lord's prayer
Nobody's gonna help you fight your fears
Better start livin' while you're still here
I heard God screaming through his tears
he said I ain't comin'
I ain't comin'
Save yourself
There ain't no saviour out there
Your stairway to heaven leads nowhere
Don't look to me for emancipation
You are your only salvation
There ain't no justice out there
This is the Lord's prayer
Without each other we're nowhere
This is the Lord's prayer
The lamb's been slaughtered
War's been declared
This is the Lord's prayer
Only the devil may care
This is the Lord's prayer
No love or war was ever fair
This is the Lord's prayer
Said I ain't comin', save yourself
This is the Lord's prayer
He said I ain't comin', well save yourself
This is the Lord's prayer
Well I ain't comin', I ain't comin', save yourself save yourself
This is the Lord's prayer
I ain't comin', I ain't comin'
This is the Lord's prayer
I ain't comin', I ain't comin'
This is the Lord's prayer
I ain't comin', I ain't comin'
This is the Lord's prayer
I ain't comin'
Save yourself
This is the Lord's prayer"
Thanx for the lyrics.
Amen !
Thanks for lyrics. The Lords Of The New Church rules forever !!!
HEAVYYYY🤔🖤
Stiv USA dead boy now
But he keeps me alive
Stiv so sexy hot with no shirt on!!! Great live gig!!!!! Thanks again bro!!!❤️👍☮️🔥😻🦊
Phantastisch!
Stiv's performance kind of reminds me of Jim Morrison.
yeah me too. i'm pretty sure jim was one of his big influences.
Yeah, this is why his ashes were spreaded over Jim's grave in Paris.
Jim Morrison, Iggy Pop and Alice Cooper were Stiv's 3 main singer influences.
Stiv was a freak. ❤
STIV, DEDE AND THUNDERS I miss your presence on Earth but I have your music to help deal with mine 😵💫ROCK IN NOD 😎🚬
TV Smith wrote this. Look him up on youtube and you won't be disappointed.
He covered it
Thanks for sharing!
Wow, this is one of my favorite Lords songs, but I could never find live footage! Let me know if you know of some more!
Actually, it was written by T.V. Smith
But lord's version i really much better.
Hyvin toimii! Vaikka laulaja aika väsähtänyt tässä!

New drummer...
And you think that the replacements were a train wreck
Uncle Sam's idea of a "punk icon".
Just for ya'll little "goth" kiddies.....who went for Mutly Crue after Stiv went so predictably stiff.
