Ouch! Well, I think most of the students who visit and comment on the Rate My Professor site are simply in school to get through it. As an adult who returned to college, I visited the site once and only because I had to drop a class due to a very biased instructor. After viewing the site, I realized my opinion of the controlling dictator was correct: she was described as a psychopathic narcissistic instructor, who de-MAND-ed EVERYONE address her as Dr! Ummm, if you are a professor, normally (and in most cases), you have obtained your Ph.D. So, the title “Professor” kind-of establishes your education level in a student’s mind, I would think.
Tatsujiro Kurogane actually this is a regional thing. The USA and possibly Canada uses professor for anyone teaching at a tertiary institution (or at least anyone not an adjunct) whereas others places like Australia and where you live only use professor for the people at the top levels.
Okay, obviously SOME folks are offended by my comment: i.e. an opinion based on MY experience. Therefore, let me overtly explain my stance. The use of the title Dr was NOT my sole objection concerning dropping the class; many factors were involved. Based on the video clip, I simply shared ONE aspect of my experience concerning the site “Rate My Professor.” In addition to this, and concerning the esteemed (and earned) title: Dr; most students honor all of their professors. However, when a professor demands the title be used, the act demonstrates a weakness in THEIR being, IN MY OPINION. At the time, I was a student at a community college. I would have been pleased to address most of the associate professors as “Dr.” But to be told to use the address even when simply asking a question in class, instead of saying professor, seems a bit narcissistic. Thus, to better illustrate my point, let me share this. Currently, I attend a highly esteemed learning institution where EVERY professor has earned SERIOUS academic credentials. Hence, each professor I now encounter has earned a RIGHT to be addressed by such a coveted title: Dr. Yet, I have not encountered ONE professor who has demanded their students address them as “Dr.” On the contrary, I have received emails and have conversed with them and they have used their first name to close ALL of the conversations. Therefore, because of their warm personable ability to teach and instruct from a place of security, I will ALWAYS address my current professors as DOCTOR!!! Why? Because they have EARNED such respect due to their ability to treat me, a learner, as one they relate to (or with), rather than condescend. There is a difference in instructing students: showing respect towards the learner GARNERS respect from those who PAY to glean from your professorship.

Two of my favourite professors are in this video who I couldn’t get a good mark from them but I still like them. I think they just need to train and work with better teacher assistants.
I personal think some of professors in the videos are the most popular Professors in UTM, people wrote mean reviews to them just because of they did not take the course seriously, they should try professor Bailey's eco 200, professor Jerry's sta302 and Professor Daniel's computer science courses to see what are the "real" bird courses in UTM.
people seem to think that you can only be a good professor if you "love" your job, are super passionate, etc. why? is a dentist a better dentist if they're super passionate? a carpenter? a mortician? maybe, but in a limited and not straightforward sense. it seems like people have a *much* higher expectation for educators, which is stupid, especially given how little many of them are paid.

@@victorluna9434 There's no way that's possible, unless you study at Hillsdale, or some Christian private school. Liberal professors outnumber conservatives by _huge_ margins.

The University of Toronto should take 1/4 of the students they take every year. Most UofT students should not be in university, period.
Up to the 1960's less than 5% of the Ontario population graduated from Grade 13 ( equivalent to 1st year university today or higher). Since then standards have declined and marks have gone up - today 28.5% of the population get Bachelors degrees. Many of the "professors" in the Humanities would not have qualified.
Money talks
Technically a problem with the high schools right? U of T has a fixed admissions average. If high schools are inflating grades that’s on them.
Hope that guy who quite literally admitted he didn't give a shit gets fired. Get a job in the field you teach in and leave the teaching to someone else.
Joseph Wong is conceited. When chairing talks and seminars at U of T that were opened to the public, he kept talking about himself and his achievements and university appointed positions - showing off. A sociologist by training (with a PhD dissertation in healthcare reform in Taiwan), he was appointed by U of T as a prof. of political science. In the aforesaid public talks/seminars he would say he isn't a political scientist even in front of fellow departmental political scientist colleagues.
Bunch of rich hacks
“A Hemingway try-hard.” Ouch.
this joseph wong is the face of my physics professor here, just to full of himself admit's it and take pride of hating what he does and misering other's people lifes. i honestly dont know how there are peaple that still wants to hire this kind of '''''professor''''
A lot of the science major professors are at colleges to do research. This means they might be a great scientists or a good person but not necessarily a good teacher.
I'm strongly considering UofT polisci. For anyone involved in the program, would it be a good choice?
prorfessors are criminaly underpaid, this is just a little frustrating
A college professor doesn’t know the difference between “too” and “to”???
1:40 Land of the free moment.
University of Tennessee?
I am a part time student. some of the professors are hard markers because they are. But what bothers most is that they are cumbersome, messy, unorganized and some of them do not even speak english well so i tis hard to understand. that is all. other than that... u of t is hard especially 2 and 3 year when the stuff you are covering has difficult concepts.
Professor Hurl can get it! Total DADDY
Why does prof mount have thrist rates lmo
Should've put in the incarnation of Lucifer aka bailey
djromeboy25 David Bailey? He’s fine
Two of my favourite professors are in this video who I couldn’t get a good mark from them but I still like them. I think they just need to train and work with better teacher assistants.
I personal think some of professors in the videos are the most popular Professors in UTM, people wrote mean reviews to them just because of they did not take the course seriously, they should try professor Bailey's eco 200, professor Jerry's sta302 and Professor Daniel's computer science courses to see what are the "real" bird courses in UTM.
isn't it too in that context 0:50?
This is great. Thank you.
Asking classmates are better than rate of my pro
What college is u of t Texas?
university of toronto
people seem to think that you can only be a good professor if you "love" your job, are super passionate, etc. why? is a dentist a better dentist if they're super passionate? a carpenter? a mortician? maybe, but in a limited and not straightforward sense. it seems like people have a *much* higher expectation for educators, which is stupid, especially given how little many of them are paid.
Courtney Jung...it is too.
....i don't think you understood what was happening there.
She observed that the review had misspelled too as to. Good thing that isn't on the admissions test.
15,181 is not hack!
finally a university that i can relate to
Missing Jordan Peterson
No references to Hurl's diet Doctor Pepper?
@Tatsujiro Kurogane to be fair, diet doctor pepper is the only one that tastes the same as the regular version. But then again, there's no real end benefit to drinking the diet one over just not drinking pop regularly.
Professor jung you’re fucking wrong 0:45
“Too” is right in that instance, using “to” implies you’re speaking to somebody named fast.
not professor jung 😭
This is why you come to science. Every person here are professionals who loved what they studied and generally make it to graduate school. Science programs have small population which make it less messy and easier to get help. I’m in chemistry and economics major. I can tell you that science and arts people are so different that it’s actually night and day. It’s very unusual for people on both sides to come across a person like me who actually can do both science and arts. It actually makes me feel like an alien.
Is it just me or was 'too' the proper form before she corrected it?
So, should I or should I not apply to the law program? 😂
The comment about Prof. Jung "not sounding like a professor" feels pretty gendered to me. Feels to me like maybe that student is just saying that she sounds different than what they're used to, which statistically is likely to have been men.
1:55 that hit him hard
Just don't go to U of T for an undergrad course. Every single one of my friends who went regretted it, and these are incredibly smart individuals. I mean, unless you feel like getting your mental health and confidence absolutely destroyed with zero support from your professors or staff.
Trever Court
is the Texas or Tennessee
Neither. They're in Canada. Hence, the varsity dot ca logo at the end. T is for Toronto.
professors only teach 2 hours a week!?
UoT is a research university. The main focus is research, not teaching.
Did no one see what he did at 1:19 😭 jokess
So glad I didn't move across the country for U of T
In my third year and Mount is the best prof I've had
I can immediately tell Prof. Wong is definitely the worst
Wow the arrogant teacher is clearly an arrogant teacher. Doesn't actually want to do it. Yeah, I said 'teacher'.
Is she a communist? :D
Hyperion pretty sure that’s a requirement to teach political science in American colleges now a days. Lol
jennifer langrehr I’m actually a major in political science so I can study law after my 4 years are up and I was actually surprised that a majority of my political professors were super conservative I only had one liberal professor so far.
@@digitalpickles1277 it's Canadian
My political science professor was libertarian
@@victorluna9434 There's no way that's possible, unless you study at Hillsdale, or some Christian private school.
Liberal professors outnumber conservatives by _huge_ margins. Some studies show a 12:1 ratio (m.washingtontimes.com/news/2016/oct/6/liberal-professors-outnumber-conservatives-12-1/), others show that there are almost four times as many *_Marxist_* professors than conservatives of any kind in the social sciences (www.academia.org/self-identifying-marxist-professors-outnumber-conservatives-as-college-professors/).
Your school is either an unbelievable, extreme (!) outlier, or you don't accurately assess your professors. It's pretty much impossible that the PoliSci faculty of a randomly chosen, not explicitely Christian private school, but typical college/university is more conservative than liberal.
is this Toronto or Tennessee
Toronto
Heath is HOT.
ahh the anonymity of the internet...got to love the thoughts of the unwashed masses
@Khandu Om mmmm Cheetos
0:43 "too fast" is actually spelled correctly, she changed it to "to fast"
No, the comment was changed as she pointed out that they spelled it as “to” when it is correctly spelled as “too” in that context
@@hailee176 They have edited it to make her look better.
@@12345NoNamesLeft ? No, they edited it a way that was a bit confusing but she was correct
@@hailee176 That's not what played a year ago.
Good thing Professor Jung isn't an English professor.
Prof. Heath is the best!! :)
