@@jacob9673 well in my country those are the ones with the most grade inflation, since the exams are so hard the average is usually around 30, and you need at least 60 to past the class for undergrads. Plus whether a study is rigorous doesn’t depend on what field it lies in but the quality of the study itself. And if a chemistry or engineering student think sociology isn’t rigorous, I’d suggest them retake logic classes. A bit philosophy classes would help, too.

one of the reasons I switched majors from psych is my prof changed at the last minute and she used to teach soc so she made me realize how similar the two are...and how much I hate soc (that was like the smallest reason though to be fair it really just wasn't a good fit for me)
You do realize most millennials already have graduated from college, right? Some millenials are old enough to be professors themselves. Besides, stereotyping people based on their age is absurd because there's no line between one generation and the next.

There's quite a few professors who go to universities because they get funding for their research projects and having to teach is just a requirement they need to fulfill. Not saying they are all like that but it isn't uncommon and I suspect that the bigger of a university you go to the more of those types there are.

I just think people like that are precious.

I disagree, that wouldn't make for entertaining content. If they make some snide comment or crack a joke at a critical review, there's a huge chance they'll come off as arrogant especially given the brevity of their responses. On the flip side If they don't joke around and take the criticism completely seriously, it won't be interesting.

this is hilarious! you can see where the reviews are truthful and not so much at the same time. I guess students will sometimes show little compassion to their teachers because, being human, teacher happen to do the same quite often, though they mean well most of the time. we all are bound to get tired and a little fed up with one another from time to time. that's why it is important to make a conscious decision to be kind regardless of how we feel, as much as we can. truth is, later in life, we always come to fully appreciate and be grateful to those teachers who did manage to be humane to us.
do you go to a smallest college out of curiosity? UCLA tends to have large classroom sizes where it would take forever to take attendance so thats why it would be weird to sign in everyday.

As an engineering student who graduated with a high GPA, I must say most students who complain about professors blow it out of proportion and are probably too stupid to be in the field or too lazy. I have had had probably 3 profs that were truly awful professors and in those classes probably 1/2 the class drops or fail and these profs actually are 1-star profs. I have also had profs that students say are awful yet I think they are incredible and really know the topic and actually teach you how to think and give you the tools to solve the problems. I have had profs that students think are awful yet in reality, they are not great but getting an A is not really too bad with a bit extra effort than normal.
"Neither is grade inflation" I hate profs who think they can take it upon themselves to fix this by grading their students unnecessarily harshly... There's nothing worse that sitting down in a class and hearing the classic "I don't know about other profs, but I don't give out A's"... @@annika4289 I don't necessarily disagree with the sentiment, but it's not up to the professors to determine who is teaching what, the Faculty decides that. No professor is spared from teaching since it's integral to how each department functions. Many professors aren't great teachers, but great researchers. It's not ideal, but it happens and students have to deal with it. After all, self-education is one of the most important things one learns at university; the ability to find resources you are given to find and study them to make sense of them on your own.
I totally agree, even though I've never studied it in a formal academic scenario. I dabbled in it in my free time, and it seems like a pointless pursuit for graduate students that think they are contributing to something intellectually meaningful. That prof has way too much hubris for teaching a subject with no practical applications outside of a lecture hall. With an attitude like that, he should at least be teaching something that requires an augmented level of mental stamina and work ethic - by that I mean something STEM related.
I have only given ONE bad rate my professor review and it was for a science professor... There was a guy in our class who was equally informed on the subject and would spend a majority of the class fighting and arguing about disputable theories and studies. I got so sick an tired of the constant water class time that on the last week of class I stood up and yelled *“HEY! look I payed for this class and I shelled a crap ton of money to be here with this textbook I expect to learn something, not listen to you two!”* I slammed my text book on the desk and receive a round of applause from the rest of the class. we got right back to the lesson after that.

No professor is spared from teaching since it's integral to how each department functions. Many professors aren't great teachers, but great researchers. It's not ideal, but it happens and students have to deal with it. After all, self-education is one of the most important things one learns at university; the ability to find resources you are given to find and study them to make sense of them on your own.

I totally agree, even though I've never studied it in a formal academic scenario. I dabbled in it in my free time, and it seems like a pointless pursuit for graduate students that think they are contributing to something intellectually meaningful. That prof has way too much hubris for teaching a subject with no practical applications outside of a lecture hall. With an attitude like that, he should at least be teaching something that requires an augmented level of mental stamina and work ethic - by that I mean something STEM related.

I have only given ONE bad rate my professor review and it was for a science professor...
There was a guy in our class who was equally informed on the subject and would spend a majority of the class fighting and arguing about disputable theories and studies. I got so sick an tired of the constant water class time that on the last week of class I stood up and yelled
*“HEY! look I payed for this class and I shelled a crap ton of money to be here with this textbook I expect to learn something, not listen to you two!”*
I slammed my text book on the desk and receive a round of applause from the rest of the class. we got right back to the lesson after that.
