      Jake Bishop but if he chases people back into lecture that shows that he cares. I'm not gonna lie he seems like an asshole and I'm glad I'm not a soc major so I never have to take one of his classes, but I've never seen a professor chase a kid that left to come back to his class. @@jacob9673 well in my country those are the ones with the most grade inflation, since the exams are so hard the average is usually around 30, and you need at least 60 to past the class for undergrads. Plus whether a study is rigorous doesn’t depend on what field it lies in but the quality of the study itself. And if a chemistry or engineering student think sociology isn’t rigorous, I’d suggest them retake logic classes. A bit philosophy classes would help, too.

      @Cool Breeze at a community college i'd agree with you in almost all cases, but at a university it's a bit more of a mixed bag. There's quite a few professors who go to universities because they get funding for their research projects and having to teach is just a requirement they need to fulfill. Not saying they are all like that but it isn't uncommon and I suspect that the bigger of a university you go to the more of those types there are.

If they make some snide comment or crack a joke at a critical review, there's a huge chance they'll come off as arrogant especially given the brevity of their responses. this is hilarious! you can see where the reviews are truthful and not so much at the same time. I guess students will sometimes show little compassion to their teachers because, being human, teacher happen to do the same quite often, though they mean well most of the time. we all are bound to get tired and a little fed up with one another from time to time. that's why it is important to make a conscious decision to be kind regardless of how we feel, as much as we can. truth is, later in life, we always come to fully appreciate and be grateful to those teachers who did manage to be humane to us.

    Damn why's everyone hating on the Sociology professor? Just because doesn't give you an easy A and actually teaches the material you came to that class doesn't mean he's an asshole, if anything it means he values his students more and wants to see them succeed in the future instead of getting out of college with a degree and not knowing what to do next.

    As an engineering student who graduated with a high GPA, I must say most students who complain about professors blow it out of proportion and are probably too stupid to be in the field or too lazy. I have had had probably 3 profs that were truly awful professors and in those classes probably 1/2 the class drops or fail and these profs actually are 1-star profs. I have also had profs that students say are awful yet I think they are incredible and really know the topic and actually teach you how to think and give you the tools to solve the problems. I have had profs that students think are awful yet in reality, they are not great but getting an A is not really too bad with a bit extra effort than normal.

    "Neither is grade inflation"
    I hate profs who think they can take it upon themselves to fix this by grading their students unnecessarily harshly... There's nothing worse that sitting down in a class and hearing the classic "I don't know about other profs, but I don't give out A's"... Like, maybe my internship hinges on me keeping my GPA up, but sure, let's fight the evils of grade inflation instead...

    Concept, if a professor gets too low of a review score, they get fired

    • @annabelle1471
      @annabelle1471 3 месяца назад

      that won’t work because it’s majority kids who like drama or are lazy making the reviews. the students who work hard could careless how bad (monotone, boring, unfunny) the professor is unless they really aren’t teaching at all.

    Consider that "Rate My Professor" is owned by MTV. It was a beta-test for the Facebook/ChiCom social credit score system that is intended to control every aspect of thought and behavior. The conventional university classroom will go down the memory hole as VR is further refined. Btw, I scored extraordinarily high on "Rate My Professor" because of my non-mainstream lectures and scholarship that placed the university at the heart of the military-industrial death complex.

      Or maybe because teaching is just one part of a professor's job with the arguably bigger part being research which is exactly what funnels money into the university and increases its prestige? Maybe you should get a more realistic picture of how universities function before accusing random people of nepotism.

    • @rhomaioscomrade
      @rhomaioscomrade 4 года назад +1

      @@annika4289 I don't necessarily disagree with the sentiment, but it's not up to the professors to determine who is teaching what, the Faculty decides that. No professor is spared from teaching since it's integral to how each department functions. Many professors aren't great teachers, but great researchers. It's not ideal, but it happens and students have to deal with it. After all, self-education is one of the most important things one learns at university; the ability to find resources you are given to find and study them to make sense of them on your own.

      I totally agree, even though I've never studied it in a formal academic scenario. I dabbled in it in my free time, and it seems like a pointless pursuit for graduate students that think they are contributing to something intellectually meaningful. That prof has way too much hubris for teaching a subject with no practical applications outside of a lecture hall. With an attitude like that, he should at least be teaching something that requires an augmented level of mental stamina and work ethic - by that I mean something STEM related.

    I have only given ONE bad rate my professor review and it was for a science professor...
    There was a guy in our class who was equally informed on the subject and would spend a majority of the class fighting and arguing about disputable theories and studies. I got so sick an tired of the constant water class time that on the last week of class I stood up and yelled
    *“HEY! look I payed for this class and I shelled a crap ton of money to be here with this textbook I expect to learn something, not listen to you two!”*
    I slammed my text book on the desk and receive a round of applause from the rest of the class. we got right back to the lesson after that.
