It feels like forbidden knowledge to know that real people came together to make a short 15 second commercial for a battery, and that it didn't just magically appear one day.
@@pressureflipin1992 As far as I’m concerned, the only people you should tell how much you make are your spouse and the government. I didn’t ask, they didn’t tell.
I’m surprised how easily the actors are able to express emotion in that makeup. From the look of it, you’d think their faces were frozen in place, but they can actually move their faces more than most celebrities that have undergone plastic surgery.
I think the living doll look of the outfits and makeup is so impressive. The look is seamless. And the actors emote perfectly in line with what the mask works with.
Wow, all these years I actually thought these commercials were just really good CGI for the time. That's a hell of a lot of work for just a bunch of silly 30 second commercials! This totally reminds me of the behind the scenes for that Primus music video too.
Just like the Geico caveman had their own TV show that lasted maybe not even a season I think this one could’ve lasted more than two or just if it had been created.
I’m looking for further credits on all the other non main characters. The family is on IMDb, but Trish’s boyfriends aren’t, the hair salon ladies aren’t, and a few others like the art gallery guide aren’t. I’m curious if they. Based the makeup looks on those actors. I know the daddy they did. The actor actually looks like the makeup.
why? There is a female mask in there, 2 even... so what's your problem? ... and he explains how he applied the mask to a "female" ... .... did you by any chance even see the entire video?

Filmed at Camelot Golfland, Anaheim California. I was one of the lead supervisors on duty at the time.
Interesting, can you give us some more insight on the production process of these commercials?
When I was a child, veiwing these commercials really blew my mind. Thank you for helping develop and inspire my sense of creativity.

Did the puttermans get paid well for those commercials cause they went on for a long time!

They should do more movies/shows with this style. I would watch! I love that it looks like a live cartoon
I feel like I was never supposed to see this
No mere mortal was.
It's the magic of RUclips. Old archive videos that they never thought people would watch 25 years after the commercials aired.
I don't think we're supposed to be here!
What a fascinating glimpse into hell
lol
@@thabg007 it's the plot for a new toy story ..... toys take over humanity

The guy who made the suits was a special effects genius.

Primus did the same thing :) I believe they had the same makeup artists
This reminds me of the Wynonna's Big Brown Beaver music video by Primus. The only difference is that Primus wore thicker plastic/leather suits.
Fun fact: Primus sought out these vfx guys for that video. Same people.
@@stenchtrench9554 I had a feeling it was the same company. That's pretty cool!
@@stenchtrench9554Yup. Steve Johnson I think. Also did Robin Williams’ effects in the movie Bicentennial Man.
I remember the commercial of these guys I wished they brought them back especially for the superbowl commercials

They did the cowboy costumes for them too. Xfx is the company I think
My childhood. I think seeing this is awesome. Thanks for sharing
I love the juxtaposition of the faux people against the real people when they’re side-by-side
I loved these commercials!
I miss this tv add
2:05 - Looks like a skinny Jay Leno.
It would be such an interesting experience spending a day doing your normal day-to-day routine in this rubbery, plasticy attire.
huh...i never realized those were people in costumes. I thought always thought it was some sort of stop motion or claymation or something
Yep according to Debi derryberry who was the son in these she said it took 5 hours in makeup
@@erinmefford8041 BRUH ur here from tik tok toooo😭
(Some) Commercials were great back then, like 90’s and 2000’s.
I tell you what though; there's a certain horror element to the creation of these characters that puts is smack dab in the "creepy" category.
I read this in Hank Hill's voice
I have been looking for this again for /so long/ - thank you!
Just like the Geico caveman had their own TV show that lasted maybe not even a season I think this one could’ve lasted more than two or just if it had been created.
Herb reminds me of Herman Munster
Would've been hell to make a TV show out of this... Would have been cool though
Does anybody else remember this twilight zone episode?
"I remember these commercials fondly!"
-Said no one ever.
It’s true. I’m a nobody.
I guess I'm also a nobody lol
I remember them like it was yesterday
Born in the 80s but I loved these commercials
Everybody thinks the puttermans are creepy. I saw primus and saw the minty fackin talent of getting the actors to look like plastic toys.
1:34 Doesn't that look like Ian Mccollum from Forgotten Weapons? *WTF!?!?!?!*
😂
Reminds me the dad looks like the son of the mask.
"Nobody really seen anything like this" Uhh because it's creepy
FX guy Steve Johnson sounds just like “Mike Damone” from Fast Times At Ridgemont High.

Wow, they used actual people? They looked like animatronics.
Those poor people... What have they done to them?!

Yes yes I do
I think the dads face is modeled after Fred Gwynne.
Now rex was Texan out of New Orleans and he traveled with the carnival show. He ran bumper cars, sucked cheap cigars, and candied up his nose.
Would you post the entirety of that video?
I love it

Keep expecting to see Les Claypool.

Red: wow thats cool
God these commercials were so creepy
where can i get full video
That's all there is behind the scenes. This is a very old ad from 1994. Search for "Puttermans Miniature Golf"
3:57 is crazy lol wtf
Imagine people dressing like this and just walking out in public lol
Yes please
Creepy
I'm pretty sure Primus made those costumes before these commercials aired.
WebVMan don't think so, this ad campaign started in 94, primus music video is from 95
Yeah they hired the makeup artists from these ads to help them make their music video, just because of how.. unreal they look.
Other way around. Prints hired the guy that did these commercials for Big Brown Beaver.
Sometimes I play this ( ruclips.net/video/bYoT1x3M6s0/видео.html ) over it and pretend is some werid music video
90s ur werid
Honestly the only disturbing thing to me is the fact that this was uploaded by a channel called femalemasklover

3:00 um yeah they do...Max Headroom and that was in the 80s. Sculpted hair, clothes, etc....jeez this guy sounds annoying and full of himself.
he mentions "as all inclusive as we have" saying that max headroom is essentially a face on a suit, these are whole body figures.
