@@05kbs70still, I would’ve loved to see a mutiny against Nolan like Rex did against Krell. And Crosshair’s last words to him should’ve been: “Lieutenant Nolan, you’re being relieved of duty.” (SHOOTS HIM DEAD)
Krell is a treacherous asshole, but in a way, he at least has a legit reason to hate the Clones. Hell, he somewhat respected Rex a bit because he saw through his bullshit ever since he declared the first full frontal assault, which can get alot of Clones killed. Nolan never had any respect to any Clone, especially Crosshair. And he only hates them because they're inferior to the Stormtroopers, whom ironically are the other way around.

Well, just like the clones.
The empire now has the stormtroopers.
Are they as good as the clones? No. Do they have to be? Also no.
@@NoobKillerTMto be fair, at the time, all possible ennemies for the empire were gone, leaving only like criminals or some rebellious people deal with, so the stormtroopers needed to be nothing more than policemen used as soldiers, using the number advantage for the lack of skill. The Stormtroops we see in The Bad Batch as well as this scene in particular most likely all grew up watching news of the Clones fighting for freedom on the front lines. These guys idolized people like Commander Mayday and Crosshair, so it's probably pretty conflicting for them to see their childhood heroes treated like trash.
Doubtful. Remember the Clone Wars only lasted 3 years. I mean I suppose some of these troopers could be 18 on the dot, but that's pushing it a little.

I noticed how Crosshair when he said Problem Sir, he said problem like he's testing the lieutenant, but quickly adds sir because he either still agrees with the empire's end goal or is avoiding a court marshal or punishment - details like this make it seem less of a show and more like these conversations are real.
I feel like he fears the empire and didn't leave in season 2 because of the risk of the empire capturing him and doing bad things

Ironic that Nolan called the clones “expendable” when he and everyone else in the Empire that isn’t Palpatine is glossed over after passing. Hemlock even tells Crosshair a few episodes later that he’s impressed that the lieutenant was murdered.
Sick burn!🔥
Interesting how the stormtroopers at the end were walking to help crosshair
No they weren't. If you actually pay attention to what they were doing, you would notice how their blasters are raised. Indicating that they consider him a threat, even though he passed out. Hey Nolan, not that this matters to you because you’re dead, but that used equipment has plenty of battle experience whereas newbies barely have any if any at all. You should’ve counted yourself lucky to have clones fighting for you
I really hate Nolan. Any character who hates clones, I will dislike them forever. Especially when they call troopers “Clones.”
to be fair some fan favorites hated clones, like Rahm Kota from the force unleashed who only survived order 66 cause he never used clones and his entire army was composed of volunteers, Quinlan Vos also hated clones and also survived order 66 due to him avoiding interaction with them, Kanan Jarrus also hated clones due to post traumatic stress dissorder after surviving order 66, and probably most jedi survivors also hated clones, also everyone hated the coruscant guard clones.
I think what this good fellow means is those who are particularly malicious towards them. Vos was more about covert ops and spy stuff. Kota didn't believe that they were fit for combat. Neither was stated to particularly hate the clones, just had their reason for not using them. As for order 66 survivors, I'd say it was more distrust in most cases than hate, most jedi probably pitied the clones, seeing as they were just forced to betray their best friends. And I doubt that Rex and the bad batch were the only clone to resist or outright disobey the order. As for the guard? I have no counter ro that one they suck.
@@Firepup740 pretty sure vos hated the clones in legends, and jedi survivors didnt knew of how the inhibitor chips worked with the exception of ahsoka, from the perspective of the jedi the clones turned on them out of nowhere
@@Juvelas3 @Juvelas3 I probably should have clarified on order 66, what I meant was after the fact a lot of jedi, once the shock wore off, probably didn't hate the clones for what they did, realizing that they didn't do it by choice. As for Vos, I'm pretty sure, not entirely, that he more distrusted the clones than hated them outright.
@@Juvelas3 Only problem with that statement is that in legends there were no inhibitor chips.
Funny how immediately after Palps announced his Empire - these arrogant PoS started popping up. While I don’t remember that we saw anything like that during CW.
It’s possible of course, but still weird. I always presumed that this trademark mixture of imperial arrogance and incompetence was a product of various military academies during over 20 years of Empire’s domination, but not a product of training during/right after the war, where such officers would just quickly die and be replaced.
They'd probably always been there but weren't in positions of power
Without the jedi to keep them in check and all the good officer probably dead or retired it really allowed it to grow especially with palps mist likely turning a blind eye
Remember Ozzel? He was also incompetent before more Imperial Officers surfaced.
thats part of the reason I dont like current star wars writting, everything moves to fast and the universe feels to small (everyone knows everyone and despite being in a huge planet somehow every time anyone is in the same planet they just happen to be in the exact same city.....)
It probably helped that the Jedi were the ones in charge of the military operations back then. Even if they were incompetent they generally showed respect/care for their troops.
ozzel moment
I have a question. Why don't the clones have cold weather gear when the lieutenant is wearing a cold weather suit?
Good question, maybe it could be wasting the Empire's resources.
@@Cardo... So the empire didn't pay because they didn't want to waste resources even though they had the Galactic Marine Corps' winter clothes, and they didn't even support Commander Baccarat. So why don't tk truffers wear snow truffers? Did their armor have a cold protection function?
@@art-pv3ie that was the early days of the empire. That’s kind of like saying why did the palpatine send “his best troops” (stormtroopers) to protect the Death Stars shield generator when he could have had death troopers do it (ignoring the fact that they didn’t exist) or why didn’t scout troopers where camo armour in a forest.
@@Squiddy-go1du ?
As it’s seen in the fate of the outpost Clones, their gear are warn out and degraded, if their armor had temperature control, it either ran out of power or they no longer work
It’s a reason why it was maddening when it’s discovered the Cargo Crosshair was protecting was new armor they could have been wearing, even as it turns out it’s the armor of the replacement Stormtroopers
My favorite Nolan scene is when he was made history
The ending scene of this episode was the single best scene of the entire series imo - the music, the setting, the bird, the gratification of Crosshair finally realizing the Empire’s evil, Nolan getting his due - just perfect.
Can we agree that whenever one asshole leaves, another takes his place?
Rampart was replaced by Nolan, and Nolan was replaced by Hemlock

Curious where that guy formed his logic. Generally people prefer to have troops that have experience not raw recruits.
Except to the imperial Lt. these experienced troops are no better than droids, outdated fill-ins that are taking up millitary slots that can go to "real" imperial citizens like him. War is "over" and it's not the Republic, the Empire needs new loyal officers.
Yeah but the Clones are sadly viewed by the Republic/Empire as second class citizens, useful during the clone wars but now without the war served their purpose. Plus it’s easier for certain people to believe “they’re only clones not real people” and thus consider their lives of little value. It’s easy to forget that the clones are second class citizens after seeing them perform amazing feats on the battlefield. But such is the situation
So satisfying to watch my boy Crosshair frag Nolan for letting Mayday die. Nolan just had to pull a Krell, and that ultimately became his undoing. I wouldn’t be surprised if he got kicked out of art school, as well as the fact that he has blond hair and blue eyes. And I sure wouldn’t be surprised if that ice vulture which Crosshair sees eats the racist lieutenant’s corpse.

The stench of imperial arrogance runs deep
4:14 this part really made me feel the golden years where truly over
He was badically krell but with his mistreatment of clones dialed to 11 and his conbat efficiency dialed down dramatically
The main redeeming quality of Nolan besides being voiced by Crispin Freeman is that he actually played a significant role in Crosshair's redemption from serving the Empire to helping the rebellion.
That’s true.
With the character of Nolan we start to slowly see the face of the Empire, stoicism, lack of any individuality, just orders that need to be followed either good or bad or even worse.
0:37 excuse me they’re not equipment they’re men
the best comeback is that Used equipment is usually better and proven than shiny new gear
Sadly, they're legaly Imperial Propriety. Being a clone really sucked.
i would have love to see the fear in tarkins eyes if crosshair shot him instead of nolan
You know a characters writing is good when everybody agrees that Lieutenant Nolan is an arse and should get a bunch of itchy spots on his back where he can't scratch them.
As far as detestable villains in animated series go, Nolan is right up there with The Earth Queen and Odalia Blight.
The irony of being expendable was that the lieutenant was as well…
1:42: Nolan: This outpost is grossly unguarded
Me: And whose fault is that?
4:35 Crosshair did the Clones and the Galactic Empire a favor. That guy was shit as a lieutenant.
The real reason Crosshair killed this dude: he made him take his toothpick out
0:57 it's pretty obvious he tripped over himself to blame the clone. Poor trooper.
When I was young I always known that the empire are bad guys but years pass by lots of people talk about the imperial stormtroopers are innocent people fighting for what is right and that they have families so you can't put them as bad guys forever. But after this episode I realised why I hated the empire and joined the rebels. I suppose to be fighting against imperial officers like him.
And to fight the empire it is unfortunately necessary to fight stormtroopers. Even if for individual troopers don't realize how evil the empire really is.
Never liked the empire to be honest Good thing stormtroopers don’t take off their helmets. Makes it easier than having to look them in the eye when they’re blasted.

Come to think of it, Nolan is a parallel to Crosshair. Both have similar mannerisms, both are leaders in their own way, and both have some loyalty to the Empire, But only difference is that Nolan is a heartless extremist, while Crosshair was only chipped to obey Order 66 and was only loyal to survive. Crosshair could end up like Nolan if he remains loyal to the Empire, or in other words if he didn't shoot Nolan.
Lieutenant you are here by dismissed 4:32
Even better: Lieutenant Nolan, you are relieved duty.
Nolan, you’re fired.
Am I the only one who finds the shift of republic officer and Empire officer really dramatic. Like they made them turn evil like extremely quick I understand a few here and their but Jesus this is quick. Also sending a LT and putting him in charge would never happen even with the empire in charge. I know it is a cartoon but come on at least make them a higher rank than the clones. Also there is no way the empire recruited trained and deployed that many replacement troopers in time an entire restructure of the Imperial military would take years.
The Jedi were usually the ones we followed around back during the CW and they were the ones in charge of most military matters. So if there were officers like that they usually wouldn't be able to do much since the Jedi could overrule them. But yeah it does feel like they pulled the new military around really quick. I would say they just handed them blasters and threw them together but that doesn't sound effective.
It's because the Empire and Repiblic were full of nepotism. Lt Nolan likley came from a noblem family
Many of the new soldiers were likely drawn from preexisting planetary militaries.
Its all bullshit
Or, maybe his higher ups don’t think too highly of him that they give him a very crappy assignment on a crappy planet and in charge of clones.
First time I heard my name "Nolan" in Star Wars and I'm a asshole.
😂
I love what an utterly despicable POS Nolan was, i think his death should have been slower
I think if several clones were still alive, they should’ve mutinied against him like Rex did on General Krell. Plus, it would’ve been fitting for Crosshair to say: “Lieutenant Nolan, you’re being relieved of duty” before shooting him dead.
Man's competing with Pong Krell for the award of "Biggest Clone racist in the Galaxy"
Yo just me or who else wishing that blaster bolt went all the way through and came out the other side of his chest, I swear these imperial officers making pong krell look like an okay guy when compared
Oh no, Nolan died, we will make a huge ceremony for your loss. Oh I forget, no one cares about who you were. Besides, you are still a lieutenant. So, why don't you remember how to adress a superior officer
The icing on the cake is hes also a poor commander but the empires ideological shortcomings protected him from this reality until it was too late.
Talk about disrespecting superiors
Two clone comamnders are told their inferior to a lieutenant
Don't like used equipment. proceeds to use a used Clone Snowtrooper Helmet
I just want to throw this into the room. Nolan mentioned that the cargo was of high value. Those were TK amours. So in terms of importance, probbaly not that high, meaning that Nolan probably wasnt appreciated by the empire itself. 😂
That’s Crispin Freeman aka: Itachi Uchiha.
Yeah. And, Orange Boy, who unlike Nolan knew the meaning of LOYALTY!!!!
I'm glad Crosshair had this guy croak. But still, it makes me wonder, why would they make an episode where Crosshair falls under the command of Lieutenant Nolan instead of someone like Admiral Yularen or Grand Moff Tarkin?
Lieutenant Nolan represents everything wrong with the Imperial Officer's Corps. Young officers who only got far because their parents were someone important in the Coreworlds. They think themselves above everyone, and deem anyone beneath them expendable. To Nolan, the Clones, even the TK Troopers were probably considered equipment. Any death they suffered, officers like Nolan would say they died as Soldiers for the Empire. How the Empire was able to stand for 20 years is a mystery, but it's clear without Vader or Palpatine at the reins, these undisciplined blue blooded snot nosed coreworld born officers were the death of the Empire.

Doesn't it make more sense for the clones to be in high ranking positions considering they were the only ones with battlefield experience at all? No humans besides the jedi fought in the clone wars.
Well, they kind of were. Gregor and Scorch were in command on Daiu base, where they trained stormtroopers, but they didn't like the replacing clones for human recruits leading to sabotaging their training. So that's probably why they weren't in command, because they wouldn't have any respect one to other. (And humans fought in the clone wars - navy officers like admirals and captains)
