    Whitesnake is one of my absolute favourite bands with a very consistent output. My number one album has to be Slide it in where they merge the blues rock with the big sound of the 80s. A classic.

    I started listening to Whitesnake when Trouble came out. My favorite era of the band was with Coverdale, Murray, Marsten, Moody, Lord, and Paice. I liked all their albums but would put the 87 album near the bottom of my list. When the videos came out I thought Coverdale looked silly when they tried to make him look like a big hair rocker! :). I also liked their last 3-4 studio albums. I thought they sort of mixed the old blues sound with the current rock sound. Great video by the way!

    I think rankings of this band always vary wildly based on where you came in, which probably explains the obvious differing opinions from either side of the Atlantic. I came in at Come a Get It and it remains my favourite to this day. ‘87 is where it all started to head south for me.

    I’m a huge Whitesnake fan. Probably my second favorite band behind Van Halen. 1987 will always be my favorite WS album, partially because of nostalgia. It was my favorite album in high school. 2nd is Slip of the Tongue. 3rd is probably Slide It In. Tying for 4th are Good to Be Bad and Forevermore. I consider them almost to be companion albums. I think they are both highly underrated.

      Now this is a list I can agree with. I think the early records were the real Whitesnake. Sykes was phenomenal though and I like 1987 and even Slip of the Tongue, but Steve Vai wasn’t a good fit. Really wasn’t the same band anymore. I just saw Vai play live last September. Love his playing, but man that SotT just isn’t very good.

      In fact doing it by era is the only way given that to most brits, like myself, all the brilliant hard blues rock albums from the late 70’s and early 80’s (the proper jeans and beer Whitesnake), will always be at the top and all the the widdly widdly over produced, spandex wearing we wish we were Mötley Cruë (the poodle perms and cucumbers Whitesnake) will be at the bottom. Purely based on the quality of the music early Whitesnake were putting out, it was better and it wasn’t even close either it was better by a country mile.

As for my favorite, I go back and forth between Slide It In and the self-titled. After a 20 year reign, Slide It In slid back down to No. 2 and the self-titled is currently my fave yet again (as it was in the 80s and 90s). The original version of Restless Heart would rank near the bottom of my list but, the newly remixed 25th-anniversary edition rips with the power you expect from a post '87 Whitesnake album. Here's my ranking minus the covers album:
    13) Trouble
    12) Lovehunter
    11) Slip of the Tongue (David should have waited for Adrian or let Vivian record it. Steve Vai did not work for me on this material)
    10) Come and Get It
    09) Ready and Willing
    08) Saints and Sinners
    07) Flesh and Blood
    06) Forevermore
    05) Restless Heart (25th anniversary edition)
    03) Live in the Heart of the City (I usually wouldn't rank a live album in with the studio stuff but, this is my favorite album from the "bluesy years". The production on those studio albums let them down in a big way!)
    04) Good To Be Bad
    02) Whitesnake 1987
    01) Slide It In
    I honestly don't listen to anything below number 7 on this list anymore.

      I just ran across the remastered editions of the early bluesey albums and I have to say that I may have to reevaluate my ranking after this deep dive. The production on the old albums was thin and lacking the bite you need in the mid-range (especially nuetering the guitars). The remasters have a lot more punch in the mix and the guitars have that bit of nastiness you want to hear so, I am going to go back in for another listen on these!

    Ranking from zero to 12 degrees subzero. Each album contains at least one screeching guitar solo. If not, go back to your retailer and demand one!

    Hi from the UK,
    I have to mention Whitesnake are one of my top 5 rock bands, Thin Lizzy sre my number 1.
    I did enjoy this ranking very much because it had my 2 most favourite albums in the top 3, Slide it in and 1987.
    My top 3 albums are actually :
    1: Trouble.
    2: Slide it in.
    3: 1987.
    But I hated anything post 1987 as the band had changed too much by then.
    But my question is can you please do a same video for Thin Lizzy?
    I would be very grateful.
    Thank you.
    Dave from Cornwall UK.

    ..... "come ' an get it" album? Their best album, the most accomplished, between rhythm & blues and hard rock, fantastic cover too. And I'm not even talking about the musicians... Lord, Paice, Murray, Mardsen, Moody, Coverdale.... with this swing, this sound, this magic, this honesty, which we will no longer find, even if there are good albums after, like "Saints and sinners". But the turning point too much hair metal according to me didn't appeal to me at all, although I like Sykes or Vai...but not in Whitesnake.

      @BrendonSnyder  10 месяцев назад

      Ok now the same way you love Come A Get It and that era…. love Slide It In, 1987, Slip Of The Tongue…the Glam Metal Years. They topped everything and everyone during that time. No one could touch them. And I’m not even talking about the musicians like John Sykes, Adrian Vandenberg, Steve Vai, Vivian Campbell….which you can no longer find….oh wait they’re all still making killer music!!! Yes indeed so is Whitesnake!

    Of course he got it all wrong.
    The number one album is ''1987''??? The album that buried Whitesnake and created that AOR Def Leppard sugar ballads commercial Disco band???
    And he forgot to mention Cozy Powell. Well, he's a young guy.

    No contest for me “ Slide It In “ is their best work. After that ( for me ) it was perms and tanning booths and basically hired hands behind Coverdale. Yep made shed loads of money and great sales but it wasn’t for me when DC went over the pond.

    • @BrendonSnyder
      @BrendonSnyder  10 месяцев назад +2

      He went over the pond for Slide It In too who were also a bunch of hired hands. It just depends on how you look at it. For me I don’t hear anything different between Slide It In and the self titled album from 1987. But there was a big change in sound for Slip Of The Tongue and that album also seemed to be a little formulaic trying to maintain the success of the previous album.

    • @arto2533
      @arto2533 10 месяцев назад +1

      Agreed on 'Slide It In', although I can enjoy most of the stuff that came after as well. It's like a different band altogether. Coverdale should have kept Mel Galley as a songwriter after the accident, if possible. Not that John Sykes did too bad of a job with it...at least success-wise.

      @@BrendonSnyder yeah they changed it up/re-recorded some of it. The recent box set of it is fantastic. The live disc contained in it , I was at that gig in Glasgow. They were brilliant i can still feel Cozy’s bass drums vibrating through my feet 👍
