Tiny Rod DEFEATS Unexpected Monster! (Deep Sea Jig Fishing)

- While fishing offshore in Jupiter, Florida we were slow-pitch jigging up some stud fish, then we had to defeat a true monster with a tiny rod! Slow pitch jigging in Florida is a highly effective way to catch so many different species of fish without having one piece of actual bait on the boat. This technical, highly involved type of jig fishing for deep sea fish is something that I am very excited to continue learning about in the future. Slow-Pitch Jigging is definitely something to try if you want a new fishing challenge!

I've got to say, I love learning new fishing techniques and new fisheries, Slow-Pitch Jigging is definitely something I'm going to continue to do in the future!
When we hooked fish trolling in Costa Rica we dropped jigs while the other fish were reeled in. It was a good way to catch a snapper while the tunas and mahi came to the panga (little boat).
Went on my first spj attempt last week. Caught 4 scamp in 3 drops, yep two nice scap on one jig. Absolute blast of a technique.
That is my first time seeing that fish release tool, very nice.

I had a captain named tony while I caught a angel shark to! A angel shark is one of the rarest sharks in the world, it’s said to be less then 50 caught in a rod and reel, good job fishing keep up the great work guys!

Most conventional reels have clickers. On a Penn Senator and most others it's usually a little nipple shaped knob that slides back and forth to turn on or off on the left side. I rarely use them.
This reel is only clicks when line is going out vs traditionally it clicks on the retrieve too. And this one doesn’t have a button to engage/disengage the clicker.
@@ChristianLDworske okay,.I'm not familiar with that kind. I have used Penn Senators and other reels with clickers that can be shut off. The clicker is good for detecting a bite but after that I find them annoying.

Ryan I am by no means a know it all but I believe you are loosing fish because you are pumping them up. Steady reeling and just winch them up and your hooked to landed ratio will really jump up.
Stop fighting the fish with the rod and you won’t loose so many fish
