Kari...I admire the way you explain your talent...and to me it is a talent..I had been afraid of the whole dying thing before..but once I took care of my mother until she passed, and then my husband, who passed of pancreatic cancer at home (with the help of a wonderful hospice who showed me how to administer meds as needed) I am now a caregiver and learning to understand the dying process much better...you have taught me so much and you are very empathetic doing so...blessings to you..

So I have a question, sorry this might be long! How do you treat cremated remains! When I went and picked up my dad and grandmother! The urn was brought out and just placed at the counter up front and i just grabbed them up like a pizza and off I went! I didn’t think much of it being a guy and all! I was watching a video recently about a funeral home in Arizona that said they would take the person back into a small viewing room and give them the same respect as if it were a body to give the person a moment alone! I guess I never thought about they way they did me and how if it were a persons child or something difficult would be highly offensive!! Your thoughts!!

    • @KaritheMortician

I think there should be some ceremony to the moment yes. I think it is too casually treated sometimes.

Have you seen how the people in samoa care for their department family members? They are buried in the front yard of the homes and when I was there, my tour guide told us of families who have dinner every night around the grave. We also saw a glass mausoleum where you could see the casket. Very interesting.
Also thank you for your advice on volunteering in a home, I have contacted a few and have an opportunity once our lockdown is over. Hi from New Zealand 🇳🇿

I have lost several family members in the last ten years. All the way from twin 11mo old niece and nephew all the way to my mom at 64. I am 45yo. 42 year old brother in law as well as parents and my husband's parents all in there 50's. The worst was my daddy (died of cerosis of the liver). He was sent to the Dallas school of mortuary (they did an awesome job) however they warned me he could turn nasty colors. I was like ok. Then I realized yellow (jondice) and blue make green. Thank goodness he wasn't green. But I am greatful the funeral director warned us just in case. Sorry I know this was a long post but may help someone else down the road

It’s been a while but I think Caitlyn Doughty did a Viking funeral video! I think it’s around the death of her cat! I think it was proven that it wasn’t feasible!

Hey Kari, I’ve wanted to ask you this question before, but I never have. When my Dad died and we were at his viewing, he looked really good! I went to give him an “ear kiss” because that is what we had done from the time I was little, to tell him I loved him. I touched his ear. And gently squeezed his ear. My mom came over and said “We aren’t supposed to touch him honey they don’t want us touching him. I was like. WHY NOT? This is my Dad whom I dearly loved! I want to say goodbye?! What is your feeling on this??

I feel like the spirit is present in some manner at their services and viewings. I am a Dad and if you my ear one last time I would be thrilled with your personal goodbye. As a child I was always holding my Grandmother’s hands and the funeral director got a chair and unfolded her hands. I sat there for 10 minutes holding her left hand, It felt so good to me that was forty years ago. He asked me to go with him jus after and he washed my hands and went back to my Grandmom and repositioned her hands and put a little make up that I hand rubber off… Then he asked me If I would like to ride with her in the hearse to the cemetery. with the hundreds of people that were there, I got alone with her remains for 30 minutes. I was so happy and remember every song on the hearse radio…. I am so glad you kissed your Dad…. I am sure his spirit just loved it……. Good for you…….
      H

I think that is a feeling coming from your mom and not the funeral home.

Hi Kari, I know the topic is breast implants. I missed your live video/ notification didn't happen. So...
Did you know that not all implants (breast only) are not filled with silicone?
Many are filled with saline (sterile salt water) with only a silicone shell.
Would those be necessary to be removed also?

Yes I do. It is the wrapping that creates the mess when it melts not the liquid interior

Don't want to offend anyone but if a person has died who has changed their gender do they have their birth name on the coffin or the new name they went by no hate just curious

Dumping ashes on someone else's property would be like dumping natural gray clay kitty litter out on someone else's property, yeah it's natural as well & cremated remains would be about the same texture even though it's natural as well 🤷
