I took my son camping last weekend and while I was unloading my truck, I could have used a single strand auto release knot. It would have helped to lower items I didn’t want to throw to the ground. In this video I use a special hitch to lower down camp fuel, a shower bag, a gallon of water, a camp stove, and even a mini Dutch oven. Thanks for watching. Хобби
I like your little Dutch Oven. And your hand washing station, good idea.
That video is the best one I have ever seen on RUclips 100% frreakn great job
The knot that you finished with in the orange paracord was equivalent to the highwayman's hitch, but differently dressed.
You're a knot genius! Love your work.
Nice one. I think the recently introduced bear grip (I know you know it 😅) is a better one-size-fits-all that will also work with thin, shapeless paracord. I'll memorise that one in priority. Though the first versions you show have the benefit of being very simple and fast to try.
Bear grip ftw
I do like that this video gives principals that could be used in building up more compounded systems.
15th! Lol, seriously, nice video as always Brent. You just figure out so many methods to use rope that I wouldn't even think to use it in.
You have a lot of great content. I’m sure your fan base will continue to grow.
Oh dude the knot to lower the pot is so nice
I was just on a yearly knot-tying binge and failed at figuring that one out so gigantic huge thank you! Hey, If you slip the standing end of a Bowline to make a sliding sheet bend or your awesome improv belt knot) I throw a half hitch around it (can lock off any slip knot like that) and if I pull on it the bowline still adjusts kinda neat. Another thing: if you do 4 turns around a smooth pole I noticed the lightest pressure on the last turn is enough to lock it (that's how I figured out how friction knots works I guess, just add more or less turns to adjust tension for whatever rope/knot you use) (for paracord I need to tie blake's going only through one loop at the end otherwise needed 6 turns (so a 4-1 or 6-2 blake's) for it not to slip). And: A random vid by Bob Moulder A few simple knots for hammock and tarp @Start-Slipped Sheet Bend @2-Sliding Sheet Bend Var? @530-Slipped Buntline (though I change it to cow hitch style instead of clove atm) are kinda my go-to knots. (sheet bends are like bowlines!). I kinda like tumble hitch/your venus flytraps/versatackles/toggles(your var with 4 strands = chef's kiss). I also like: JRB/Maverick/Agile-Longhorn/Blake's Tensioner Hitches, and Hunter's/Zeppelin/Ashley's/Butterfly/Carrick/Harness Bends. On web archive Load Testing I think blimp and fig8 were needed on dyneema (at least back then) but most others were fine otherwise.
I’m a big fan. And I love these ideas. For short drops, like from the back of a truck to the ground or from a single story roof to ground, the simplest solution, and most reliable, might be to simply pass the line through the handle and double up the entire length the way climbing rope is doubled when passing through a ring.
A master
Really like your content! Keep it up!
👍🏻🇨🇦. Without even watching. No pressure. lol.
Thanks Lee. How are you liking your notebook?
@@First_Class_Amateur I love it. It’s too nice use to be honest. I’m keeping it in the bubble pack until I can decide what is important enough to write in it. Looking forward to your upcoming video. 300k 🤞🤞.
I like to use my notebooks as a to-do list. Or, as a running log of sketches for ideas that I have. Don’t forget it’s refillable so, use away!
I’m hoping the camping trip w/ your son was a tease for an upcoming camping ⛺️ video? “Knots in the field “ 🤞
I found that this works on any type of rope
A LOOP is closed.... a BIGHT is just a bent around piece of rope...
I'm not nit-picking per se... I feel it is important, maybe even imperative, that in cases like this where NEW folks may be watching and this is NEW material for them, correct terminology is key!
-bitter or working end
-working part
-standing part
-bight
-loop
-hitch
-knot
now i just have to remember that i know a know for a particular situation
You could just put the items by the tailgate and tie them so they don't slide around. I used to keep an old hand cultivator in the bed to reach thngs toward the front.

First!!!
Thanks Joel!
