I got bamboozled. I thought this video was going to be about him realizing that Yale isn't that great and sucks, but nope. This dude absolutely loved his time at Yale. Anyway, I like the video trick gimmicks. Idk why people don't like it.
I thought you were gonna spill the tea on why Yale was the worst™️, but it actually was a super positive video and it made me feel inspired to work hard to get to a good university!!!
hope the wisdom teeth surgery wasn't toooo bad. But the video definitely wasn't! Loved the video, hopefully some of your enthusiasm for college rubs off on me for next year! lol
Josh Beasley i had my wisdom teeth taken out and it put me out of work for a day. They put all the passionate people together it sounds like. I am sure my son will be just where he is supposed to be.
Josh Beasley i like the song for your intro, summer nights take so long. I like reggae and I can tell you know variety of music. Perhaps your parents 😁
Actually the Ivy League is so deeply ingrained in society's mind that even if doesn't matter if it's better or not, it has some societal value and it creates and impression of anyone you tell "I went to a Ivy League school".
This was an awesome video! I’m attending UPenn in the fall, and you basically reflected everything I’m feeling right now. At this point, I’m pushing all of my thoughts about school to the back of my mind, and that’s only being amplified with Quaker Days more or less being cancelled this year. But just hearing how you went from feeling anxious about school to falling in love with it made me confident about my choice again and reminded me of that feeling I had the first time I visited Penn last summer.
Interesting. I attended Yale 5 decades ago and nearly all the classmates I got to know well had some version of "Do I deserve to be here?" or "How did they let in someone as unusual as me?" or "This is not the Yale I read about." 50 years later I still don't quite understand what Yale was or is, but attending it for nearly three years (I left when my campus rock band got too big for New Haven) was perhaps the best thing that ever happened to me.
Really, thank you! Almost any "truth about this" video is just made to make views by saying bad things, and i really appreciated the positiveness of this video. I really think i'm going to watch it again and again in this year before the admission tests and all that stuff. I live in Italy and thinking about going in the US for university is really frightening and sometimes i get really anxious or emotional, but this calmed me down. Thanks again!
Current NYU Stern student, and I am applying to Yale’s SOM and FE&S. Hope I can get in and spend two years at one of the greatest institutions in the world.
Relish the moment, it goes by so quick. My daughter just finished her second year and we are in shock that her days at Yale are half over already. We, as parents, are enjoying the whole experience as much as she ... it’s a dream come true. 😎 Have a great summer Josh.
My dad went to Harvard Medical School and he was a military doctor as well. Good luck at Yale you seem like a great guy. Yale is a really cool school even thou I am a Harvard fan.
I'm happy you discovered how you feel about Yale. I wished I discovered my place at Cornell earlier during my undergraduate years. I will tell you - time really does fly by fast in college. It doesn't feel like it when you're in it but make the most out of it while you're there!
my cousin was top of his class in his high school and then he suddenly wasnt when he went to college. HE LITERALLY DROPPED OUT... the saddest thing ive ever seen in my life
Hey man, old guy here-class of '66 (uh, that's 1966/JE). Gratifying to hear you describe being taken care of in New Haven. I had a similar experience during my years there. It was the first time anyone had taken seriously what I wanted to do. Seemed to me that the admin/faculty were really trying to support what students wanted. And I know for sure that they saved my a** for sure on more than one occasion. And when it came time to graduate, I was hard to leave. I didn't go far: grad school @ NYU. LOL! Nice vid.
Great video, Josh. Thanks for sharing! I just sent my son off to Yale in August (he's in the BEST college, though -- ES) and when I saw the title of this video I thought it was about how you realized that Yale is not ALL THAT! What a nice surprise. I enjoyed it.
Your editing skills are better than “big” youtubers , you should be recognised. We can tell how much dedication you put on computer science 👌🏼The video was amazing
Idk if you're gonna see this dude, but this really helped me. I'll be starting Yale in the fall (I'm in Silliman so no old campus for me either) and this really put my fears to rest.
Hey, glad to hear you had a great year and experience at Yale. Wishing continuous success. Incidentally, don't forget to visit the ice cream joint on Chapel St, delicious, and Blue State coffee for those late hours. Also, support always, your local firefighters, cause we got you covered.
Whoa! Another TDer from Northern Virginia who did FOOT and has a military connection. Áshe! Congrats on surviving freshman year. That was forever ago for me, but I remember how awesome it felt and how passionately I wanted to be back when that first summer came. Godspeed, bro! #BoolaBoola
Josh, my son, Michael, just finished his Sophomore year at Yale and is also in TD. I enjoy your videos, and this one was one of your best. Wishing you continued success.
You are EXTREMELY lucky my dude! You're finding your undergrad fulfilling, instead of the pure cancer I experienced for 4 years; good luck, have fuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! xD
Had a very similar experience from 1986-1990. Also TD. I find your videos to be extremely well done and meaningful. Thank you for making them. Enjoy your time there.
Hey Josh, thank you so much for uploading this. I'm an incoming first year and this was very refreshing and reassuring as I (attempt to) prepare for the fall.
Hey Josh! Great video man! People keep telling me to watch out when I go to college because even though I am at the top of my class now, I will be just average at Princeton (if I get accepted). But this actually excites me because I am hoping to finally find a set of friends that are as driven as me and love to learn as much as me. Keep making the amazing videos; you actually inspired me to start a channel myself.
Your face and tone at the beginning sounded like u were about to drop a huge truth bomb and I started freaking out if accepting Yale's offer was the right thing to do! 😂 Psych tho! Great vid!
For graduate school I applied to only two schools: Brown and Stanford. I got both and attended Stanford. I’m proud of my Stanford degree, but I’ve always wondered what the Ivy League experience would have been like, if I missed something important by passing on Brown.
This is why I only applied to Yale as a grad student. I didn't want to go through the whole "residential college" aspect of Yale, because I had already gone to a small, residential liberal arts college for my Bachelor's. Yale is an amazing place though. It was just a bit TOO BIG for me as an undergrad. I wanted a smaller college. For me, as a grad school option though, it was perfect. I'm glad you had a good first year there Josh, I think that is super important and indicative of the next three.
My first year in college was a lot like yours. I loved it and didn't want to go back home. I took summer school the second year and didn't go back home. I didn't go to Yale. I went to a state school. That said, I felt pretty average in Computer Science. There were people there that were naturals. I was not one of them. I had to learn everything I know about Computer Science. I made it though and it was worth it for me.
I watched this video after getting deferred from Yale, hoping that it will make Yale less of a dream school. But oh well... Now I want to go there even more
hey Josh great content as always. I recall the first video I watched on this channel was ur ap score reactions and my initial thought was wow this kid's insane (7ap classes in senior year and a bunch of 5s). You deserve where you are right now and good luck in the future
so along with being a high achiever, being blasted in every direction with opportunity, and having an unending enthusiasm about how awesome I am, the quality of people here around me are better than where most of you are; they're totally supportive of our collective domination in life together. my resolution this summer, for when I go back, is to become even more emphatic regarding the focus I place on my own success. the greatness I am experiencing is beyond any normal human's expectation of the level of greatness to which one is regularly accustomed, precisely as I expected for myself. all is as it as it should be in the world. (btw: this statement is just for fun and written in the spirit of silly meaninglessness... no hate or serious commentary here)
Great Video! I graduated from Yale back in 2016. To say Time moves quickly is an understatement.. I got my degree in Applied Mathematics and was the only caucasian girl in the class. My biggest advice is HIT THE STUDYING HARD.Have fun AFTER graduation. Also New Haven is a Shithole stay on campus.
Best of luck with your channel! I hope it grows. That was some good content. Would you consider making a video about studying techniques and how you keep yourself motivated?
“I’m also a magician.” I wasn’t expecting to hear that.

I got bamboozled. I thought this video was going to be about him realizing that Yale isn't that great and sucks, but nope. This dude absolutely loved his time at Yale. Anyway, I like the video trick gimmicks. Idk why people don't like it.
Same! I thought he was going to complain.
Should've went to Harvard with Lil Pump
I regret my decision every day
Do you seriously regret going to Yale?
Is that Leroy Sané in your wbu hahaha
do you not understand what a joke is
Dingle Nasty and lil tay man
The editing in this video is crispy af
I thought you were gonna spill the tea on why Yale was the worst™️, but it actually was a super positive video and it made me feel inspired to work hard to get to a good university!!!
me too
Sorry for the delayed upload. Your boi just had his wisdom teeth surgery and is a little sore. Hope you enjoyed the video tho
hope the wisdom teeth surgery wasn't toooo bad. But the video definitely wasn't! Loved the video, hopefully some of your enthusiasm for college rubs off on me for next year! lol

6:21 - "I've only 3 more years, and I'm going to make the most of it." Remember those words
Man’s almost done

“I’m also a magician.” I don’t know why- but, I can connect to that on a spiritual level.
Graduated in 2016... this vid makes me so nostalgic

Nine new best friends! Your roommates are great! So much support and you felt at home.

my cousin was top of his class in his high school and then he suddenly wasnt when he went to college. HE LITERALLY DROPPED OUT... the saddest thing ive ever seen in my life
It happens quite often.
Why dropout
College not meant for everyone no matter how good their grades were
I love your insights and commentary! I appreciate the absence of curse words. I wish you the best of luck at Yale!
This is such an insightful video Josh, keep up the great content!
Thanks!
Wait, this isn't the royal wedding video

Were you in a secret society?
Going to any type of highly-ranked university is likely to induce an emotional breakdown of some kind.
I'm so happy for you Josh!! This was such an inspiring video. Got me really excited for my freshman year at college this fall :)
Omg hi katie
Great video, Josh. Thanks for sharing! I just sent my son off to Yale in August (he's in the BEST college, though -- ES) and when I saw the title of this video I thought it was about how you realized that Yale is not ALL THAT! What a nice surprise. I enjoyed it.
Hey thanks a ton man- this video addressed a ton of concerns about Yale and I can’t wait to go there in fall more than ever.
Glad I could help!
Aight you got me hyped af for my freshman year next yr
You're an amazing storyteller, great video! Don't stick vids that have traction, post what you love man you're good at documenting
Your video making skills oh my... the fact that u keep changing the background keeps it entertaining
Your editing skills are better than “big” youtubers , you should be recognised.
We can tell how much dedication you put on computer science 👌🏼The video was amazing
I hope you go far dude. This video was so well put together and you have great character.
I feel sooooooo similar to Josh. I really appreciate your perspective. It soothes my nerves for this upcoming application season.
I found out today I'm in TD! Was actually pretty happy about it :)
What's TD?
Idk if you're gonna see this dude, but this really helped me. I'll be starting Yale in the fall (I'm in Silliman so no old campus for me either) and this really put my fears to rest.
That's great!

I’m watching this literally a day before March 31st, 2020
Dude the shot of you in the rafters was pure gold.
That look of disgust persisting throughout the video is iconic
Whoa! Another TDer from Northern Virginia who did FOOT and has a military connection. Áshe!
Congrats on surviving freshman year. That was forever ago for me, but I remember how awesome it felt and how passionately I wanted to be back when that first summer came.
Godspeed, bro! #BoolaBoola
Josh, I love your work and I love this style of video, it really reminds me of Casey Neistat. Truly amazing. Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks! That really means a lot!
Josh, my son, Michael, just finished his Sophomore year at Yale and is also in TD. I enjoy your videos, and this one was one of your best. Wishing you continued success.

Heading off to UW Madison next fall. College life excites me tremendously.
You are EXTREMELY lucky my dude! You're finding your undergrad fulfilling, instead of the pure cancer I experienced for 4 years; good luck, have fuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! xD
Arun Madhavan Luck is the residue of hard work
Had a very similar experience from 1986-1990. Also TD. I find your videos to be extremely well done and meaningful. Thank you for making them. Enjoy your time there.
Hey Josh, thank you so much for uploading this. I'm an incoming first year and this was very refreshing and reassuring as I (attempt to) prepare for the fall.

Omg I'm headed there next year and the title made me so scared that you had some horrible experience! Thanks for 7 minutes of anxiety lol
Your face and tone at the beginning sounded like u were about to drop a huge truth bomb and I started freaking out if accepting Yale's offer was the right thing to do! 😂 Psych tho! Great vid!
This was definitely one of your best videos, Josh!
Love this! I start Yale this fall and you got me so pumped!
New style of video. Just amazing.
Thanks!

Loved this video! You're so talented at what you do!!
Now this is what I call being a good sport.
Best of luck with your channel! I hope it grows. That was some good content. Would you consider making a video about studying techniques and how you keep yourself motivated?
This video is so extra
