Several salient points missed here - Princeton still has THE hardest grading expectations of any ivy. This was institutionalized explicitly by the Dean about a decade ago, wishing to grade as hard in liberal arts as the curve in sciences !! they have since learned this was crazy and hurting the liberal arts grads. (BTWHarvard is unequivocally the easiest grading Ivy other than Brown which is of course out of control) Pton engineering has been traditionally stronger, but Yale has started to catch up. Price ton has far fewer majors, academic departments and esp interdisciplinary majors. EVERYONE does a thesis at Pton, but many do/have to at Yale depending on major. Also huge difference is Yale has very serious grad schools on campus (business med law). Esp in medicine thats a huge advantage. Princeton’s residential colleges are great but cant touch Yale’s because of tradition and universality. But lets be honest- Pton is still all about eating clubs. If you feel you can compete socially, great. If not stay away. Yale simply doenst have as many ways to Feel liek a failure socially. Its easier to get to NYC from Pton, but its not like you r at Columbia. Finally, YAle Helath center is excellent, Princeton’s is mediocre at best. As for serious medical illness, Yale New haven is a world class institution, Princeton is a tony community hospital.res ipsa loquitur. Greek life is NOT a big deal at Yale, please. Crime is seriously worse in NH than Pton obviously though. Shopping is better at Pton iof you have a car , once the mall reopens that is ! performing arts and visual arts stronger at Yale obviously with excellent music school etc. Pton architecture is world class but Yale’s is no slouch. Yales Museusm >> Pton. Weather sucks in both towns. Forget using the “beaches” in new haven :LOL. New haven is not as dangerous as philly for what its worth.

They're basically the same, folks, in freshman and sophomore years. When you get to junior and senior years, Princeton requires junior papers and then a thesis. I think there is a difference amongst the big three there. When I was at Princeton, I was able to work very closely with Bob Hollander, the (world's greatest) Dante scholar, and we've been good friends for over 25 years. Yale has the best residential college system.

For one, I really love to residential college system at Yale and to me it’s one of the best and if not the best one in the country. I really love how it works and it seems like a great way to make friends. Secondly, the dining halls at yale just seem outstanding compared to a lot of other colleges. I’ve heard not so great things about the food at the other ivies and based on what I hear from yale it’s a 5 star restaurant compared to them. This also might be a hot take but I just love new haven a lot. Sure it has its problems but overall I just feel at home there. Princeton, NJ is a beautiful city and has a really nice town and I’m sure some will love it but to me Princeton lowkey just seems boring. Also Princetons grade deflation just doesn’t sit right with me. Based from what I’ve heard the yale party scene is stronger not that I’m really a strong party person but still 😭. I’m not really an architecture person either but the gothic architecture of the Yale buildings really appeal to me. Plus sterling library is just 😩😩. Even somewhere like Harkness Hall is just stunning to me. Also I like that new haven is between Boston and nyc and it takes a simple train ride to go to either city.
Overall I just got a connection with Yale that I didn’t with Princeton. Though Princeton is an amazing school and I probably would’ve gone if I didn’t get into yale.

Josh ... hope you take the time / chance while @ Yale to experience New Haven as a community. Seems you haven't ventured out so far, but as a Yale grad who got to know the community through Yale sponsored engagement, have to say I see the richness, diversity, yet manageable scale of New Haven as one of the strongest calling cards for Yale! In my opinion, the unique power of the Yale experience, set in the rich setting of New Haven, makes Yale, by far, the #1 Ivy League option.

Interesting video. I’m at Wayne State University and it’s very similar in the structure of classes but yeah very cool video.

I have heard that it is disadvantageous to apply to a stem major to yale (there is a lesser chance to get into if you apply as stem major). Is that true??. Great video!!

What extra curricular activities would you suggest to an upcoming freshman who’s looking to get into an Ivy League but will attend a school without clubs, can I start a club for my school,do colleges look at activities you do outside of school?
Della Crawford you should defiantly start a club and yes they look at outside activities such as volunteering or sports 👌

Hey josh I love your videos man, I wanted to ask shall I apply for ivy leagues or MIT or any other top colleges - I m from India, I have lot of extra curriculars like I play state level football, guitarist, yoga teacher and I m volunteer in NGO, but I m not financially rich, I m taking my SATs this October and m pretty sure that I can score 1450 atleast, so I wanted to ask you if there is any chance of me getting selected.?
