It makes sense that these may be your go to pad over others. Recall Assos uses a floating pad design. The pad is attached to the bib but has float. It is suppose to move with you, they claim. A loose bib can cause chamois slippage. Recall Assos had a race fit bib, bib tight, jerseys, etc. For those needing that fit, myself, that is a good thing. Maybe they made the pad larger on an Assos figuring ppl where doing endurance riding, who knows. I have a couple bibs with thinner pads that are marketed for faster riding (whatever), specialized. If I was doing 160km, I would want a larger chamois. If it is super hot out, maybe a bit less so. The pad and not sitting on front of the saddle should reduce whatever the comments at the bottom where about. Good review.
Between the castelli and assos, It’s a tough call to be honest. It really is all subjective. You mentioned the compression in the previous comment. With Castelli’s tighter fit and great feeling grippers (that I now really like), I really like that one. This assos is great but I’d like to try their slim fit snd see what I’m missing out on. I’ve enjoyed the comfortability and the fabric feeling when I’m out with this one, a lot. I also prefer the straps by a long shot on this bib since everything thing feels in place, especially when comparing to the castelli. Another great comment :)
@@perfectlyfitted Makes sense, some depends on body type. They had some equip s7 short that was not $400 but race cut also. You may have the touring ones. Sure they are good. You cold probably sell them if you dont like them but check ebay solds first or keep them as they are still very good, you will use them for years. Straps, the assos is $$ so the tech in the straps would be better.
Appreciate the reviews!! I want to get my first pair of bib shorts for this summer and probably going to go with these! Also dope to see your rides near the GTA!
Jose!!!! Yo I really appreciate that comment, it pushes me to create more content. Cycling bibs change your life. Hey C, I’m not sure about that one. I’ve never purchased a rapha bib (yet). I have felt the bib’s chamois though. It felt nice and different to Assos’ version. I don’t think you’ll go wrong with either one. They’re both considered premium brands. I like the thickness that assos offers.
Good job on the vid, now I saw you mentioned you ordered medium, was that the company's recommendation or you sized up too medium. In the market for a nice pair.
Thanks Ryan! I actually got this at a local bike shop. At the time, I asked the sales associate who said medium was my size after taking a look. Last year, I purchased their winter bib online and did their sizing system, it recommended a small for that pair. I got a small and it fit me well. It seems like assos’s sizing system worked out for me. I would choose their sizing chart if you need help. You can email them too and see what they say 👌
hey again how does this compare to rapha pro training bibs? and how is the shammy? its not a diaper like the castelli progetto air? and how is the compression compared to catellis nut hugging compression?!! and what size for me small or xs? im 5 foot5 126.5lbs.. these look like hot pants!!
Annu! Hey dude! I don’t have the rapha training bibs unfortunately. The chamois on the Assos is thick. You might not like it since you don’t like thick. I like it because it’s thick. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like this cycling bib. I only have one castelli bib and the castelli bib is much tighter than my Assos. The assos is just right. It’s a snug fit. I have a medium at 5’7 and 150 lbs. you should email them and see what they say. The website also recommends what to get if you know your measurements. It is my favourite cycling bib to date.
hey brother i tried like 4 bibs all returned... CRAFT TRAIN PACK BIBS the best bib i ever worn i will give this a try and also what size do you wear? my train pack crafts feels so soft and comy feels like nothing on when on the bike. Also whats your opinion on a summer base layer when its above 90 degrees?
Annu! Great to hear from you again. I hope the workouts are going great. I am a size medium in this video. Train packs looks interesting. I’ll look into it. If you like the bib, you can always stick with it. I just like buying different brands to see what’s out there. My assos summer base layer is worn on my summer rides during those temperatures. Sometimes I just wear the base layer instead of a jersey. When it’s that hot I sometimes still wear a base layer and a jersey depending on the jersey. I’m a big fan of base layers underneath to control my sweat. Sometimes I’ll wear just a jersey and nothing underneath but I rarely do that. Both options are good 💪🏼 I’m all about the base layers though, ahaha. I also have sleeves base layers for the summer.

James! You’ve had three pairs with the same issue!? Were they purchased at the same time? Did you contact assos and see what they could do for you? This is the first I’ve heard something negative. What are you currently wearing on your rides at the moment?
The mistake you are making is to forget why you are buying cycling shorts: because you have negative pressure points that are hurting you. Not just discomfort but real urological and neurological damage. Why not just take away the cause rather than treat the symptoms? @t
Hey Jeff, I receive no pain whatsoever in whatever bib i ride with. I just prefer Assos’s chamois, material of the bib, straps, and just overall cut and quality compared to the others. The others can provide the same but I prefer the assos by a longshot. It just feels nicer when I’m wearing it. I will keep that in my mind when I make my next purchase since that is another way to look at it. Feel free to elaborate if I didn’t answer that question correctly. I buy cycling bibs to have a better ride than it already is. Thanks for watching my video.
@@perfectlyfitted Not everyone who smokes gets cancer but no one denies that smoking causes cancer except tobacco companies. And no one in the cycling industry denies that single platform bike seats destroy your urological health except those making cycling shorts and single platform seats. Sir, no one discovers they have cancer the day the cancer starts. And by the time you have symptoms show up extensive damage will already be done. I know this not just by the science and common logic, but by the tens of thousands of emails and phone calls I have fielded for the past 21 years.
