To answer your question about where it's at, the big GBB event is held in Poland, but honestly beatboxers are all over the world, there just isn't a whole lot of quantity by comparison to other musicians so they kinda get overlooked hence what makes this community underground

The difference between how rap evolves and beatboxing is that there's so much room for improvement that the skill cap is always getting higher, whether it be with speed, bass, or even random noises being incorporated, there's always going to be a higher bar to reach as each year passes
The difference between the skill in 2018 and 2021 is insane

I love the lyrics he puts in his routines. He really does make an effort to have sensible lines, good rhymes, and some absolute zingers. My favorite is "don't try, only the devil replies", such a great battle line

In my honest opinion, people do overhype Codfish's skill, but it's only because he sounds so good
There are national competitions around the world, thanks to that there are champions, codfish is the Australian champion and Dlow the UK champion, the GBB together with the world championships are the most important competitions.

Hey man finals are a little weird it seems like the crowd gets too serious to get hyped so its hard for the beatboxers to get the same energy as the other rounds but Dlow seems to blend the seriousness and flow in the last two rounds perfectly, please check out Inertia Smoke Bullet! A compliation like this of a guy ripping up a more underground style stage. Real 8 mile vibes in that one

I love watching non beatboxers watching pro beatboxers, its always fun, if you want more check out the Kickback battles from Swissbeatbox, they are an online battle that happened recently because of COVID no live events so they did an online battle, the quality is next level.
Thank you for these reactions! While I like these spotlight videos, it's too bad you are missing each of the actual battles. These battles are awesome to see and get the whole context. For example, right after he said the competitor's appearance, when he starts out of the gate with the crazy speed, he did that because the other guy was doing that at the end of his round and he was showing he could do all that fat technical stuff, but that he preferred to do what he though sounded better and what he enjoyed.
You need to watch some of his Kickback Battle. He improved like crazy

@@CliffBeatsOfficial Depends what your flavour is.. the current lack of battles is causing current beatboxers to produce highly polished 'showcase' pieces with the emphasis on musicality over technical flexing. Anything from 'Show-Go' is great, 'Gene' just produced a beautiful track called Metamorphosis (which is his wildcard entry piece for the upcoming GBB2021 competition), but for the all-round package of technique, crazy sounds, and fantastic tune structure (or if you want beast mode he is an unbeatable battler), you can't go wrong with anything by D-Low.
He's the Jordan of beatbox, any of his back catalogue, or indeed his recent SBX Kickback Battle competition will not disappoint 👍♨️
Next, you should react to their loop station battles. Either MB14 vs Saro or Saro vs Tioneb.

Beatbox is all over brotha! Lol I know there are quite a few on the East coast and.Midwest of the US. I’m sure more competitions will be in the US. However the GBB is in Poland. Napom, Gene, Bizkit, Balistix, Rayul, Awoke, Young Recluse and Hershe. Plus Beatbox house are all in the US.

Beatboxing is generally everywhere but it seems to be biggest in Asia (or at least best represented) but also quite a few of the big names come from France and America.
Obviously D low is from the Uk and we also have a guy called Reeps one who is a massive spokesperson for the scene (he even got a ted talk) who is from the UK but I would say beatboxing is a global thing.

if you watched individual battles instead of the compilations, it would explain a lot of the comebacks a lot more... you will get less quality beatboxing overall, but its like a rebuttal in rap. which dlow is very good at. i commented on ur codfish reaction as well, but id def recommend tag team battles like uniteam vs kotcha or the mad twinz 2017 run... also loopstation is a whole beast in its own, look up saro for loopstation... you have only scratched the surface, these guys are all insane
