Beatness is one of the cleanest and precise loopers, but on that night with SO-SO, he just wasn't ready for a "Final Battle" so early in the game xd damn....

Oh and also just from 2018 to 2019 GBB, in one year many newcomers like SO-SO appeared, and more crazy talented artists that leveled up like crazy in just one year such as Inkie and NME. This year is going to be the biggest GBB ever in history! More artists get to perform and battle! The level this year is too great compared to 2019 or even 2020 lol

So So created, in his first round, something that encapsulated what everyone who probably attends these beat-boxing events wanted...something a bit different, a lot less predictable. No offense to Beatness, tremendous talent in his own right and worthy 2018 winner, but So So took an unorthodox method and with his energetic 'no-structure-rules-need-apply' approach to looping, insane number of drops (in only 3 mins! Not to mention the freshness and pizazz of each one), off-the-wall originality; it was like every gamer nerds' electronica wet-dream, Pac-Man on acid with a blitzkrieg of other sounds and mad tempo beats. It fired up the crowd after Beatness took a more laidback/Hip-Hop tempo'd approach. So So read the crowd, reacted with them, pushed his composition with his own enjoyment and energy and created a crazy synergy with the audience. It was honestly game over from that moment, watch how he reacts like a kid in a candy shop who just got a free hit - too much fun was just created! I've seen a few people say So So's sounds were 'messy' and that Beatness was musically more harmonic/structured/pleasing...maybe so; but at the end of the day it's a battle and crowd participation is a big thing, the judges are aware of that, plus are also beatboxers and former champs, so that performance with 'edge' or pizazz, something different is always going to stand out - then when it's done with aplomb and as much gusto, not to mention in Japanese culture things are a bit more unorthodox and So-So let it shine, he just took it to the next level. It was amazing and you couldn't possibly top it - look at how much fun the crowd has and the reactions, one guy holds his face in disbelief at the crazy distorted laser-strikes near the end, one guy at the end is like "oh shit" when the funky main melody drops back for about the 3rd/4th time (So-So still has 14 seconds left when he abruptly finishes..), the blonde girl at the end is near orgasmic (I swear So-So could have quietly snuck her off for a little "let's party now" time *wink wink*!)....it expressed in droves exactly what these events hope to achieve, the people were entertained ("are you not entertained?!?!" Hell yeah!). Legendary performance, hats off to So So - he struck the right chord with a pure unadulterated, madcap and uplifting fun composition.....so (so) good :D

If you want to watch more battles, I'd say GBB2019 D-low vs Colaps & D-low vs B-art.
You already watched D-low's part but just get the whole flavor watching the full battle.
The battle against Tomazacre is nice but not as good and impressive as the ones against Colaps and B-art.
You can also watch older school battles, like Gene vs Alem - 1/4 Final - 4th Beatbox Battle World Championship.
For more recent stuff : SBX kickback 2021 battles. (D-low's battles, zekka's battles, Villain's battles...), that is C0VI D-friendly battles.
Also - it's so subjective to judge because their styles are so different. If I were 10 years younger, in a club partying - yah, gimme that techno seizure stuff. But, what I'd actually like to drive around listening to or sitting at work or doing parent stuff these days? Certifiably that'd be Beatness.

You should watch some stuff from Tom Thumb he is one of the referees and in my opinion one of the best loopers out there. the coolest stuff you can find of him is his TED talk and his song Rachet Face which he performed live with an entire orchestra.
