DUBOIS - A former library board member has been convicted of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars in public funds and sentenced to prison.
On Wednesday afternoon, Amanda Baker, 47, came into the Clark County courthouse wearing a dress and was accompanied by her husband. She sat at a table with her attorney, Jay Kohler, in front of District Judge Dane Watkins.

5 years taking an average of $3700 per month. Ms. Board President why weren't you wondering where all the money was going.??? You obviously were approving of the credit card figures. That is a lot more money than anyone else in the county made those 5 years. I should think with such a small county you would be keeping better books.

It's likely no one thought to audit her books, simply trusting her. That happens a lot in small systems.

Speaking as a former librarian and library director, we expect the public to come to us with their problems (all kinds of problems, including addiction and a criminal past). She had resources and colleagues that could have helped her but chose to betray them all!
Librarians aren’t equipped to address individuals’ life problems!

@@judybrown1446she’ll file bankruptcy and wipe that out tho unfortunately. It’s not possible for her to pay back nearly $250k in 10 years unless she has a home with that amount of equity in it and can pull the equity out, otherwise it will just get written off

Idaho …just continues to shock and amaze me with the recent level of crimes. In the past I never connected or considered IDAHO with the DISTURBING CRIMES happening there. This LIBRARIAN though is the lowest of the low…stealing from children in your community. I always loved reading so much and it was actually a blessing to visit one when I was a child. The READING RAINBOW truck pulling up to my Elementary School was also like a Christmas Event to me. 🤔❤️🩹⚖️
