84' BroncoII 5.0 stroker

- I have people asking questions about my 1984 Bronco II all the time and thought I would upload a quick video.
Its unedited, as that would take stills I dont have at this time.
It's got a 5.0, with forged stroker kit.
I went with the short stroke 331 kit without the over bore. (327 ci)
I went with the smaller kit, because I already had the Air Flow Research heads.
I built it as a toy, but life changed and it's back to my daily driver.
Thank you for watching and I hope to get more videos up soon!
Feel free to post any questions!

UPDATE.....5-19
Quick dashcam shot.
I will try and upload another Bronco video soon!

😱😱😱 I love the original Broncos!! Ok now I need to watch
Thanks for watching !
I have become of the infamous "5 subscribers" that you spoke about.
Very nice! I had an 85 with v6/5sp. Great little thing. Great in the snow. Always wanted to throw a v8 in it. Eventually gave it to my son. Have a TJ now, but sorry I didnt keep that B2. Duffy used to sell all the adapters/parts to make the swap
BTW - saw the Jantz sticker on your B2. I met him at Trail Jamboree with his SuperJeep. Awesome guy
Thats when I originally build it. When James Duff was in Sequim Wa. Pushing 30 years ago. Where does time go?
@@dontask8979 cool - we knew James when he was in SoCal. Lost track of him when he moved outside of sequim. I finally went there and now he's moved to TN I think. Actually, my brother said he's out of the biz now and his son is running things.
You must be out of your mind...nice work!!!
😂🤣👍
Thank you.
Really enjoy your videos, I’m slowly working on my B2 also and you’re thoughtful upgrades are quite inspiring!!!
Looks great. I'm just starting to rehab my 88 B2. Thanks for the ideas, and lessons learned.
Good luck on your build and Thanks for watching.👍
Just Subscribed!Nice Bronco II.I have a 1990 Bronco II 2.9 5 Speed and love it.Used to have a 1988 Bronco II but a Hail Storm took it out.Have had mine for 10 years now its my daily driver with 232,000 on it!Cant Beat the Small Broncos they are so Fun to Drive!
Completely BAD-ASS! I would love to drive it! 🥳👍🏾😎🤟🏾😆
Thank you!
Its a fun ride. No cage so its hold on and hope for the best 😬
Thanks for watching and leaving your comment 👍
Coolest bronco 2 I’ve ever seen.
Thank you!
saying hi! from Veracruz México, v8 with efi sniper, dana 44 hp, ford 9 np435 and dana 20
Thanks for watching 👍

What a great little truck & a sweet dog ..you've got it made in the shade bud
I'm restoring a 92 explorer with manual 4x4 just for city driving,
because the potholes are getting too big in this city ..L0L
That's bad when you need to build a 4x4 for potholes.
Thanks for the kind words!
He really is the best dog even.
Never chewed anything that wasn't given him, and zero accidents in the house!
Stay safe!
Love the truck and your Aussie
Thank you!
Geez! I don't even know what I'm looking at (engine) but it looks awesome! Count me as 201😀
Its been fun.
I built it in the late 90's
Thanks for watching 🙂👍
Love the toy! I want one now also.
Thank you and Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.👍
I will be your 11th sub. Ha. Love the little BIIs. I have two and want to build one for my wife with a 5.0. My 1984 has SAS swap and 5.0EFI. Bought it as is after I rolled my ‘79. Whoops! Your Baby Bronco looks sweet. Very nice.
They are very under rated.
If you have a link to yours, feel free to post it!
Thanks for the sub!
I'm "double digit" now! 😎
Nice little video, I have a line on a 2 owner 1985, its been parked for many years after second owner passed away. Straight as an arrow with a perfect, perfect interior.
It's always nice starting with a clean slate!
Is that a Astrailian Shepherd I see?
@@dontask8979 Dang right buddy! That is Mo, he is 7.
@@dontask8979 Pulled the trigger on that Bronco II. Lady was mistaken it is an 87, Regatta blue, blue interior. 115,000 original miles 100% bone stock unmolested $1,500. Pick it up in a week or two when I am finished moving to new place.
Very nice.
I was on RUclips a few months ago, and a dealer had a low mileage BroncoII and was asking $15,000 for it!
Guessing they still have it.
@@insolentstickleback3266 Hello,I have a 1987 Ranger 2.3 manual transmission, same color as your Bronco II , That is what I would love to have,I do have a 1989 Bronco II, but I think the '84-'88 is better. The dashboard is all metal even the molding around the front Windows, and I like the front grill.l don't think I will ever find a Bronco II like you did! May you enjoy your find in memory of the previous owner, that never got to drive it very much.
Great b2. Wanna do this to mine !
Nice shout out to your subscribers
Thanks for watching!
302 should've been the standard engine in the bronco 2.
Sweet
Thank you
Looks awesome! Mine has a good ole 5.0 in it and I'm looking for more power too 😂
Funny how that works.
If we had 1000 hp, we would want 3 more...
Thanks for the comment 👍
Your thumbnail looks like my 70' Z. The license plate was "DISTILL" and my other 76' Z had a license plate "ALCOHOL"
Mustard Yellow I called it
Hey I wish I had the tech skills to post a pic ……
I am subscribing, as i am currently building a BII, and I liked that I saw responses from you too all the questions asked. For my question: was it difficult going to EFI from the 2.8 carbed setup? What was needed? I was debating going carbed 5.0 as I've heard those are easier for conversation sake.
I used the "Ford Motorsports" harness.
I'm sure its just a fox body mustang computer harness.
I pulled the 2.8 harness off the computer and stuffed the plug back through the firewall and unbolted everything the harness connected to.
I think I had to cut 4 wires, and splice them.
I also had to add new wires for the fuel pump etc.
I installed the engine over 20 years ago, so there are much easier ways now days.
I was hell bent on using all Ford parts.
I think you can get a harness from "Painless wiring"
Thank you for the sub.👍
@@dontask8979 thanks for the info! Looking over your channel, I found a lot that I like. Keep up the good work!
Thank you
Probably a long shot but I really like your headlights, do you think they would fit in a 90’ s10 blazer
As far as I know all the square lights are the same. Well worth the money.
Thanks for watching👍
Was the trans set up easy? Didbyou have to modift the transfer case or drive system? Im thinking of swapping my 2.9 with an auto with a 302 and auto. Maybe from an f150?
I built around the C4 transmission.
If yours is the C5, I believe you just need to swap the bell housing and the torque converter.
Transfer case stays in the factory location.
Advanced Adaptor has the info in there catalog.
I wanted to hear it run
There is a short video of it. I thought I linked it, but maybe not.
Here's the link.

I'm looking at putting the 2020 Ford Godzilla 7.3L Super Duty engine in my 88 Bronco II. Looking for a salvage donor asap. Also doing SAS on the front and a 6" James Duff lift.
Feel free to post a link of your progress👍
@@dontask8979 I am hopeful that I will have progress 😂
Start the build yet?? I know Ford performance just released the 7.3 control pack, so will be seeing no swaps soon.
What's your locale bud? I'm in TN with a Bronco 2.
Wa.
Thanks for watching 👍
Welp not sure what number sub ill be. But... Ill be one too haha. My daughter and I just about finished my old CJ5 and we have been looking at what we are going to build for me. Have u had it out in the rocks? Did u have enough room for the 5.0 in there? Anything you would have done differently? I appreciate the build and video. Thank u.
The heater box is about the hardest part and that's simple.
What I would do different..
I fixed that with the engine in it now. The OEM intake with fuel injection you cant get to one of the bolts to remove the upper intake. That could be a problem!
The cobra or explorer intake has the bolts in a location you can get to.
Also when I replaced the engine, I cut away more of the heater box, so I could remove the valve cover, if need be.
If you have anymore questions, let me know.
Good luck!
@@dontask8979 u are an all-star sir. Right now our next build is looking like a bronco 2 or a ranger.
In all honest...
The Ranger would give you a nicer wheelbase.
What is the brand of those LED headlights? They look great
Those are/were the "Truck Lites",and at the time, they were in the process of selling to Rigid Industries.
After sticking those in, I never used the offroad lights again. The line between high and low beam is incredible. I have never been flashed by anyone.
100% plug and play. No screwing with wiring or anything else.
They have about 8" of wire that plug into the factory headlight plug.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Best headlights of anything I have ever drove.
I had the Sylvania "Silver Stars" prior to these, and remember those even being a great improvement.
Thanks for watching👍
@@dontask8979 Great, thanks!
You're welcome
Sweet ride! How high did you lift it and what's the diameter of your tires?
It has the James Duff 3" suspension lift. The tires are 32x10.5 super swamper radials.
Thanks for watching👍
@@dontask8979 Appreciate the reply! Are those 10 inch wheels? And are you running any spacers? Apologies for so many questions haha just think the stance on yours looks perfect.
3" lift and thinking back I think I added a spacer under the coils for another 1/2" for camber correction.
The tires are the super swamped 32x10.5 radial
I did lots of homework and at the time the 33x10.5 was only .4" taller, but the 32 was over a inch wider.
The wheels are just 15x7 with zero offset, but that will be different, as the 8.8" axle is wider than a BroncoII.
(8.8" rear, Dana 35 front from a 94 Ranger 4.0)
Thanks a lot for the help! Homework is what I'm doing right now haha. Also, my apologies I meant 10 inch wide. Once again, beautiful Bronco II
15x7 zero offset.
The 2.8 german v6 needed 50 extra horses, that's why so many bought stick shift 4 or 5 speeds
Agree. This came with the 2.8 with the stick.
@@dontask8979 yep Ford had a 3.8 V6 with 140hp they could have used. You couldn't get a 4 cylinder 90 horse
They should have used the 5.0 to begin with.
@@dontask8979 yes
@@dontask8979 2.9 was almost the same with fuel injection v6
start it for us
I should have but didn't even think about it.
There is another shorter dash cam video, leaving a intersection with sound. Not the best, but its something.
Thanks for watching
What engine mounts did you use
I got the mounts from James Duff.
I'm not 100% sure what mounts they are, but I do know they are a Ford mount.
Thanks for watching!
Hi. I am currently building my 88 bronco. Just out of curiosity what did you do for wiring. I am going to throw an 80s 5.0 into it and I’m buying it as a crate short block and going to build it from there and I can’t find any wiring harnesses for that year. I wanted to start fresh with a new wiring harness so it is not old and doesn’t need repairs often. Thank you to anyone that would mind helping me.
I used a " Ford motorsport" harness. Im not sure if they are still avaliable or not.
Check out "Painless wiring" they may have something avalible.
Thanks for watching and Good luck!
Dont ask thank you. I appreciate the help. Great build. Love it
You're welcome and Thanks for watching.
Can't you start it up at least? Also, I need that snorkel in my life. Where did you find it?
It's been years, but I believe it is this one...

Starting it may have been a great idea...duh.
I will have to upload a "Part 2"
I will check my dash cam footage too.
Fresh from the dashcam...

Who made your snorkel kit
It's a Safari Snorkel (ARB)
The under hood parts / plumbing are custom.

Doing the same swap, what motor mounts and oil pan should I use
I got the mounts from James Duff in the late 90's. I used the fox body Mustang oil pan.
Thanks for watching 👍
@@dontask8979 Awesome thank you, I’m doing a similar swap but am doing a carbed 302, with a np435 4 speed manual trans, will a fox body oil pan fit on a 70s 302?
I'm not sure.
Tdi that thing
own a 85 bronco ...vibrations increase when transitionig speeds / shifting ....small coolant leak...thinkn water pump...2 month wait for parts...tyme to sell to dedicated bronco fan...need anewer truck van car
Two month wait for parts?
Damn.
Thanks for watching👍
The 3 speed automatic made the Bronco II slower
They make for a super easy v8 swap though. 👍
@@dontask8979 it's a C4 right?
Its been years, but I beleave they came with a C5.
The people who did it swapped the bellhousing and valve body, basically changing it to a C4.
The advantage is t-case remains in the stock locations. So they didn't even need drivelines.
Mine is a C4 built for the application
The 2.8 Cologne German V-6 was the best engine ever put in a Bronco 2.
Selling that 2.8 was the easiest thing I ever sold.
