5:37 "military grade" meaning the cheapest thing that actually works
Hey, if it works it works. I know people who drive 20 year old Toyotas with close to a million miles on em...their vehicles are worth next to nothing, but they keep on going.
like the military, Asus boards blow stuff up too
Also, millitary grade means "guaranteed within specs"
Jake has Arlo all over him, someone get him a lint roller.
Jake is Arlo. He can shape shift & do time travel.
I think you just need to wash your screen
i was laughing out loud when i saw that giant hair 😄 I was like seriously ? no one sees it ? 😀
His hands are also realy dirty. Kind of gross actually.
Came here to say this. I can’t stop staring
The stated cost savings of DDR4 vs DDR5 at this point is becoming pretty moot. The DDR5 version of this mobo is $5 more and 32GB of "good" DDR5 is $25 more than 32GB of "good" DDR4. 30 bucks is 100% going to be worth the performance/getting into the current memory gen.
Pretty much. I get it, if you're shopping $30-50 RAM kits by sorting low-to-high on Amazon then this message isn't relevant for you. But, DDR5 is so much cheaper now than it was on release that if you're willing to spend anywhere near $100 for 32GB of RAM, you're screwing yourself out of 5% or more performance. Not only that, but that DDR4 is going to be trash likely come next generation when you want to upgrade.
Yeah, I would get the DDR5 version of the mobo, and just get the cheapest ram. Wait until DDR5 matures, then buy new ram after a bios update. Future proofing.
If you live in America. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to the market like you do. So, it is still a sensible cost saving for the rest of us
I don't think people need to milk 5% of their system if it already gets 120+ FPS.
@@ChronoXShadow The memory controllers on current DDR5 platforms are gonna get left behind by the ICs of the future
Alder Lake already can't make any use of A-die, let alone M-die. Splashing out for the expensive stuff over Samsung stuff to put in an Alder Lake rig doesn't make any sense right now imagine how far ahead DDR5 is gonna be in two years. Even the Raptor Lake IMC has the largest variance since Haswell where ya might get an A-die 8600 capable banger, ya might get one that takes days to just figure out how to get back into BIOS at 7600.
So just for LTTs reference, the reason Eternal runs so well is two fold, one, their visual shading is fairly basic instructions wise, at least the part that counts within code, and secondly, they stream elements in and out constantly as you move around and look around, to where anything it doesn't need is culled so that you never are giving performance up to render something your not seeing or needing on the screen or around you.
Digital Foundry goes over the latter half of that explanation in their Doom Eternal - Id Tech 7 video.
The streaming is probably the reason why Eternal ran much better than DooM 2016 on my old FX 6300 + GTX 960 2gb.
Already updated to 11400f+2060 12gbs, but I love the optimization on Eternal, I barely saw anything on nightmare with everything on low and all, but I was able to complete the game on that junk.
I've heard they also managed this "screen-culling" technique for the ps1 notably. Its nice to see they know what they're doing.
@@LoneWanderer905 Well the issue with Doom 2016 was less of a streaming not existing issue, and more the route they took that streaming later took over, which was Megatexture, which was textures atlas-ed into one big texture streamed at once into the game for use in an entire level or for a set of objects. The problem with Megatexture was that if something went off screen, the entire megatexture had to be reloaded, re-mipmapped, and you could see this happen often due to the constant need to do so.
This is why Eternal fairs better, because streaming only cares to cull what is not needed entirely, not what is needing culled as one file that later has to be called back to functioning anyway a few seconds later.
Also that game does not require long drawing distances
Culling is a technique used since games and graphics rendering first began being created, it's nothing new. That's just how, specifically here, game engines work..
ID Tech does have some different asset streaming techniques, but that and culling is not the real reason for performance.
270$ for a motherboard with Dddr4 is quite expensive
Buy a ASUS Prime motherboard then. ASUS have DDR4 motherboard prices ranging from $70 - $999+ to choose from.
So this is why the asus tuf 4070ti I wanted went up to 850… jokes aside I really like the tuf lineup for its great price to performance and nice aesthetics that aren’t too flashy
And my old TUF MB was in system shipped from east to west back to east coast and still works but had to upgrade
My 4090 tuf is hustlin at 70% power target, overclocked to the the same perfomance as other 133% entries in 3D Mark.
Well that's... Tuf
Bite me.
Get the non oc version I have it
Yeah, had my tuf mobo for over 10 years now LOL
Get this man a lint roller!
Now for sale at LTTstore.com!
True 😂
And a workout. Pudgy and soft looking.
@@Akkbar21 that's not nice.
@@jonathanthomas2449 very cool. How brave.
Wow this is a well timed vid.
Been running the 502 white case for the last 2 years, and building in 2 more of them at the end of the month for some friends. Perfect to show them beforehand.
Case is truly massive but makes building everything in it so much easier.
I just got a 4070 ti and 13600K. Amazing combo.
May you have years of great gaming and excellent pwnage.
That’s a really nice balanced system.
I love that asus mobo yellow/gold capacitor match with jake's mustache lol
I've always wondered if people buy the TUF cases. Every time I see one in the store I think, "That is different and ugly." I also don't personally know anyone who has used one.
It’s a great case a few good features and a couple of problems. It’s also a great way to stand out from the masses of people who buy Lian Li/Corsair cases.
@@TheSjuris 100% agree with your entire statement. Came here to say the same exact thing. I think his opinion is subjective in terms of how it looks, I personally love mine (same case). It just has this very industrial, rugged look about it.
My all ASUS build kicks this to the curb. Didn't think I'd ever have the chance to say that.
Asus has done a lot of cool stuff on their motherboards. Just built on a TUFF board and was very impressed with the convenience of sines of those little features like the M.2 quick release
I'm waiting to see what becomes of the mobo with the connectors on the back. Been toying with that as an idea for years and I'm excited to see it for real.
Awesome vidéo as always.
Is that because of the lights or does Jake looks like he's half or quarter Simpson ?
I have the same case, and absolutely love it so far.
"I have no idea what case they got inspration from..." HAHAHAHHAHAHA the shade in the sponsor video you love to see it.
I have an all TUF AMD build and absolutely love it, looking at sticking with TUF for my next build.
Jake:"Aorus Sync"
Asus: "See if we ever send you a nice box again!"
I scrolled so far, I was beginning to think I was the only one that heard it!
I've been a big fan of my asus boards... I tried a gigabyte, had memory issues, went back to asus no issues
Love the skimping on the box......and the missing bios battery :) hahahahaha
I love my ancient z77 tuf motherboard for my 3770k. It was one of the first motherboards that actually utilized the dust/cooling shroud, and having been in overly dusty environments for a long time, I attribute the shroud to keeping my mobo alive.
I did switch out 1 of the tiny motherboard fans for a noctua one to help make it quieter.
Finally starting to be insufficient, but been a solid machine for the last 10 years.
i just built a new rig around the 13900K to replace my 4770K system. the 4770K has been rock solid for the last ~8 years and is now my home theater pc in the living room.
@Arc yeah, still trying to decide what to do with the old machine. May turn the 2 MSI 760s into a wall decoration 😅
Thumbnail should of been the "Tufest build ever."
I recently finished a build with a B660 Creator board. It has most of the benefits of this TUF board, but the push button GPU release is a cool feature, and mine doesn't have the reinforced PCI-E slot.
Damn pretty TUF PC ya got there.
I like seeing the neo ram on an Intel system. I always wondered if there was any issues with cross compatibility
Can not go wrong with ASUS !
I built my asus strix theme rig last year love it not one issue.
The fact that Asus markets the TUF line as being more mainstream and affordable while also selling custom 40 series cards for more than the reference version within that line is a little funny but, oh well.
nice computer, love the new tech upgrade series so far.
Worth mentioning that the new TUF G psus (750w, 850w, and 1000w gold rated) come with ATX 3.0 and direct-slot 16 pin power connector standard so you don't have to fiddle with the adapters and extra cable connections. Plus they're well priced too. Don't see any other reputable psu manufacturers offering ATX 3.0 and 16pin connection at this price range (or any price range, really). Asus got out super early with this stuff at good prices.
I have the TUF 501 case. Older model, but I like the design better. Front fans with filter, tons of space for cable management (or cable "management") on the back
Not enough cases have carry handles. I've been wanting something to swap out my Corsair C70 but love the handles when it comes to cleaning/maintenance. I also need to have space for a couple 3.5" drives.
The case has a lot of space for various 3.5 drives, at least on the back there is a caddy that can hold up to two I believe and if you set fans on the side by removing the covers you can attach those covers to the back radiator support and set two 3.5 drives in there. That's what I did.
Tivy's been closing those rings at the buffet!
Damn!
Well that was a kid tier build a year ago now it’s priced like a top of the line. But it’s still a great build and would love to have it. Great vid and here’s to the future
If I buy an Asus TUF motherboard, will it come with a CMOS battery and a box? Or do I need to buy a more expensive model to get those accessories?
7:26 I imagine it's a mix of Lian Li's O11 Dynamic (Evo?) and maybe Corsair's Crystal series like 680x for example. It was definitely Love at first sight for me when I found out about this PC case. I think I've never purchased something so fast off the internet. 🤣
I def got it even though I had wanted something more stylish, I saw this and got it (but from another video about 2-3 weeks before this video released).
@@vidsurfer0725 Ah sweet. May I know which GPU you have and how much space is inbetween the side glass panel and GPU?
@@fluzzles I got the Asus Tuf 4090....I have it mounted to my board directly (eventually I want to vertical mount).
The length of the card leaves me with about 4 or so inches still clear. On the width (from board to the main glass) I have about 1 inch maybe a bit less, but still plenty room for my cable (I got the Corsair 5.0 cable so I only have to run 2 plugs into 1) and gave it a slight bend so it would clear the glass, but not so much that I might start a fire
@@fluzzles this video, at about the 10 minute 30 second mark shows a GPU the size of mine and how it fits in the case, just for some visual reference.
ruclips.net/video/PPgsRNxi-yA/видео.html
Wow who would have thought?
Finally you showed the all Asus PC after all the Auto Thorough builds and Asbestos ROG builds
“I have no idea where they got that inspiration for a case”
Couldn’t be more sarcastic lol
I have an ASUS TUF motherboard (x570) and I've been thinking about doing an all TUF build, and now I am pretty set on it :)
ROG guy here: X570-F Gaming mobo, RTX 2070 Strix GPU, ROG Ryujin 240 AIO 🙂
Mine is B550M zaku tuf
3 times faster than the normal b550 tuf
I'm running the same case and I like it a lot. I watched the maybe handful of videos that were out on it and decided to give it a chance...0 regrets. Has minor quirks, but all in all I still like the case.
I'm running the Asus B550 ProArt motherboard with 64 gigs of RAM (DDR4 @3600mhz), Ryzen 5950x and a 3090ti, powered by Corsair HX 1200 80+ Platinum. As time goes I will be upgrading most of these parts but the case and PSU will stay...first purchase we'll be an Asus Tuf 4090....after that I will give it several months for the DDR5 problems to settle a little and see who has better price to performance to power and heat. I have no problem going 13900k if they happen to be the ones to go with.
Now that's a TUF PC 🔥
You're so funny
Need a strix one also
Bruhhhh lol 😂
How much did they pay imposter
My five systems are ASUS motherboards and video cards. I moved entirely into ASUS for those components about ten years ago, from totally mixed brands. I used to buy the ASUS TUF models, now I buy the ASUS ROG models. They are expensive but I really like the features and quality. I have never had a single system component failure in at least a decade.
Asus boards are awesome and they last I have 2 Asus boards from way back in 2005 and 2006 and they still both work and just recently I bought an Asus board b450 prime and built a pc with that and so far I like it. I plan on putting the 2 old asus boards and cpus back into a case soon I'm just waiting for the right time and the right price to do it.
Its pretty incredible how Jake is always covered in hair
This video has big tv cooking guide energy for some reason
Did you put the CPU cooler on sideways? Is that the mounting system's fault for a $760 AIO made by Asus on an Asus motherboard?
bought a B660 TUF wifi plus and i love it
I used to have a TUF Subertooth motherboard. What a cool motherboard it was.
I own this motherboard and didn’t know about the gpu release button…thank you sir
I would love to build a PC like this but I would still need it for doing 3D Modeling work too
this is literally down to the models my exact pc other than the gpu. i got a 6800 xt but still pretty wild
I have a custom all Asus build. It's absolutely great!
Got the Tuf Gaming z790 Plus Wifi with a 13900KS
Corsair Vengeance RBG 6400mhz DDR5
ROG Strix LC II 360 AIO
ROG Strix RTX 4080 (OC edition)
ROG Strix 850G (Upgrading to a 1200w Thor Platinum II soon)
Got a Samsung 980 Pro with Heatsink M.2 1tb (Getting the 990 Pro with heatsink 2tb soon)
All sitting in a Tuf Gaming GT501 Case (Massive Case)
Pushing 1440p ultrawide on a Gigabyte G34WQC
I'm really impressed with this build and I'm even a little bit power capped at the moment.
Asus is the way to go
Just finished putting my Tuf build together.
Ryzen 5600x with Noctua nh-d15s
Tuf gaming x570 pro wifi
Tuf rx6700xt oc
Wd black sn850x 1gb
16gb ram
Tuf gt501 case
I think I might need to add a set of those fans.
Those reflections make me think you could build a case where the side panel is a monitor
The metal trim on the PCI slot is for shielding, the gen5 has much higher data speeds per line which means its more sensitive to interference. Its flimsy metal trim, it would do almost nothing to support the high density plastic housing.
Very nice build 👌
At like 9:15 Jake sounded like Uncle Roger 😂
I just did an Asus build today. Asus B650E-E Gaming WiFi, 7900X, DDR5 6000, 980 Pro 1TB, 4TB m2 gaming drive, 4080 FE, be quiet! Pure Rock 2 FX (dual fans), be quiet! Light Wings for the rest of the case( two 140s and two 120s), and NZXT H5 Flow
Great choice the m.2 boot drive. It is incredible!
nice to see an TUF Build =) i got nearly Full ROG build
Wahh…thats a new one to short circuit..from disassembling…to assembling a pc
Was just looking this up yesterday lmao
quick release panels lol i still remember early 2000s every case had a lock on it so people couldn't steal your ram at lan parties :D
Love how the build looks! PS. That has to be the nicest monitor ive seen. The design is simply perfect, nothing fancy or crazy or trying to hard. Asus!
I wanna see more of the cableless pc. with the connections on the rear of the motherboard
That's gigabyte that does this, and they are the top worst software makers in the industry. Avoid at all costs.
@@the1observer I saw somewhere ASUS was looking into doing it. I’ve already learned my lesson with gigabyte, never again😂
@@GigawattGarage good stuff, Asus is on top of their softwares thank God. Gigabyte is ridiculously dumb how bad it is and how they still in business is beyond understanding hahaha
i have the GT502 in white. I love it
I've read somewhere: Military grade = "as cheap as possible and only so good, that it passes the needed safety check" :D
Nice build!!
Careful with the grey SATA ports on Asus mobos, they like to spontaneously disintegrate at any slight pressure.
I'd rather have a full secondary 16x slot and more USB headers than 4 M.2 slots. It's more convenient to add a SATA drive than to add a USB expansion card and hope it works flawlessly.
Thinking about building an all TUF AM5 build, so this vid makes my OCD kick in a bit (yes, they have TUF PSUs and what about TUF AIO? Bugs me they only have 240 though).
TUF is my favourive lineup of pc componets in terms of the design.
hi Jake, did you know that in wikipedia under "half-assing a video" is a link to this one?
What mouse is Jake using towards the end of the video?
funny you make this video, I'd already gone all the way asus apart from the PSU and case for my computer :D now i know they make cases however and i was already thinking about getting a new one ...
REALLY nice looking case, but I would want a bigger full tower version that could fit up to four 420mm radiators (top, bottom, side, rear compartment) at the same time, as well as a clear distro plate that could fit behind front panel glass, & a 140mm fan at back. Now THAT would be an amazing case, future proofed for custom water-loop cooling the increasingly hotter hardware every generation. If Asus made a full tower version like that, I would buy one, rather than the cooler master HAF 700 I'm currently planning to get, when AMD's 7950X3D CPUs FINALLY become available in the UK!
LTT, a top tier tech channel but with c tier pc building part picks
I wonder how Asus likes that you called Aura sync Aorus sync :D
In the middle of a full TUF build, GT502, Asus TUF Z790, 13900k, Asus TUF 4090 OC, 64Gb DDR5 6200 mhz Dom Plats, 2Tb 980 Pro m.2 (x2), waiting on Asus TUF 1200w ATX 3.0 psu, & full EKWB water cooling.
What tool or utility at 11:23 showing the GPU Power?
What program do they use to get temps?
Damn that's TUF
Wow! This is really good! It's almost like asus makes computers!
Funny how Jake seems to always be one off when he is reading numbers :)
Does a PC really need a CMOS battery to boot?
I thought they're just for remembering settings?
Maybe to prevent that a voltage spike resets you bios values while the PC is on, or maybe just as a safety measure. Idk
Missed chance to use Asus RAM as you are using a DDR4 board. I know Team T-Force makes a line of their Vulcan RAM with TUF Gaming branding.
What’s the mouse that’s Jake’s using in this video?
I had an Asus plre build that would always switch fans to full speed after sleep, then ALL wifi functionality stopped working neither pcie usb services would actually allow a stable connection.
kinda hate how expensive graohics cards have become. last gen 70 series were 500 bucks msrp. now the current ones go for 799-899. like dang
the regular 70 won't be much better
Someone really needs to tell Jake to clean the Cheeto dust off his upper lip.
Reminder that "military grade capacitors" means "farmed to the lowest bidder for minimum viable product".
i love these kinds of videos ,because its just a dude building a pc and talking about it what else could you want
I have a 4080 tuf very good card with an extra 2.1
that's a good looking case...
I think if short circuit does something that LTT could do they should do it fundamentally different. Instead of just using shorter cuts what if you presented the built pc and then took it apart to talk about the individual pieces. Or took a working pc and changed out the parts to show more of a process than oh we build new pcs.
Corsair Air 540 looks like the inspiration
Amazing Video
Love that ginger stache 😘
Is there a performance difference for sticking to one vendor? All MSI, all ASRock etc.?
no
aorus sync ? you call out a gigabyte name in an asus sponsored vid !! focus jake , focus !
You. Mounted. The. Cpu. Screen. SIDEWAYS. AHHHHHH
that cheeto on his upper lip though...
