- A performance art group presents "Dicknanigans," a theatrical piece about society, consumerism and blows to the groin.
About Key & Peele:
Key & Peele showcases the fearless wit of stars Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele as the duo takes on everything from “Gremlins 2” to systemic racism. With an array of sketches as wide-reaching as they are cringingly accurate, the pair has created a bevy of classic characters, including Wendell, the players of the East/West Bowl and President Obama’s Anger Translator.

now you know why trump won.
@@KandiKlover I thought Trump won due to the widespread belief in unreasonable claims and the spread of "personal truth", which allows people to justify any belief without the need for it to conform to reality. Claims that Trump made did not need to be true or reasonable, as long as there were enough people who were divorced from reality believe him.
VodShod no, this is why Trump won
Comedy is art
I swear, the 2 people in the audience are exactly how I imagine art experts look like
Plot twist: they weren't actors, just people who thought they were at an actual show that got caught on camera

I'm an Art Major, and yeah, this is how they are. Wacky Bastards
You mean, " Woke Hipsters" ?
I once walked into one of those art showings in NY city...you are 100% right. Its every stereotype you can think of in reality.
This really says a lot about society, consumerism, and love.

I hate the people missed that part and was solely focused on their balls… really says something about our culture.

The fact their doctor is the janitor from scrubs is just beautiful
It's Dr. Jan Itor!

Wait hold up they married to one another... All these years I've been a fan of both of them knowing each one has married a black guy and white woman only to now learn it was to each other... How the hell did I miss that?🤨
I was at the show. Dicknangians was amazing. Such a broad concept, but said so simply. Ersatz, yet multitudinous. The divine transposed into the ordinary, like seeds of life and truth. I'll never forget it. Dicknanigans.

What ..?
I concur. I did find the profundity of the messaging to be a vast and scathing remark about the phallic nature of our society
I couldn't agree more!

The noises they make when kicked is the funniest part to me.
100%!! Absolutely hilarious
Have you seen Buddy Hackett on Johnny Carson telling the duck joke? Must be the first time on TV that someone pretended to get kicked in the nuts. Still the best.

I swear this would be an actual art theater show in New York with a bunch people who think they're art experts.
This sketch itself is sophisticated art theater. It's beautiful.
Yeah and if you ask them to tell about that they would write a book
@@forgotaboutbre There you are
But what is art? Is it the expression of thoughts in the mind? Is the endless ramblings of a man who thinks himself sophisticated? Is it that which is created without purpose, which as an idea that lends purpose in and of itself. Does art have a language? Or is it something that transcends communication and is understood by all who view it? Does one require certification, education, or experience to create art? Oh say, what is art?

Truly a piece of art. The lack of dialogue gives the audience so little to work with yet the movements and the penis pounding gave us all the context we need. The message about how everything can lead to pain and suffering but love can overcome it all yet it too has its downsides. This something that artists will strive to replicate but can never truly have the emotional impact of DICKNANIGANS

You know, when I first saw this as a young boy I didn't really "get it"...but now as an adult this rings so true
This makes me think back to a year ago when me and my friend went to a show, where he was asked to write a letter to a dead character, and he was supposed to recite it very seriously. We made up the most ridiculous, over-the-top, artys poem with platitudes and empty meaning we could think of. We hoped people would clap and be amazed. We didn't expect the ovation he received. I had to use all my bodily might to hold back the laugh I was supressing while watching the reactions. It's so funny to see how far people are willing to go and accept ridiculous things as 'high art'.
Now the real question; is this a critique of the avant-garde elitists and the modern art movement, or of the ubiquity of juvenile dick jokes? Does it perhaps demonstrate that both, while claiming to shock our common sensibilities and therefore be inherently worthy, in fact engage in endless repetition of recognizable tropes? That both are ultimately devoid not only of meaning but originality? That in their effort to break away from the mainstream, they in fact both become painfully colloquial?
Truly, a sophisticated masterpiece performance.
That was deep.
With that deep of a comment you could be one of those avant-garde thinkers in the audience.
Woke
They make of fun of both the audience who are in reality dumb people who want to look smart and the "artists" who waste their, hm, lives.

I had a media arts class where 2 students turned off the lights, dragged a chain around in the dark, and wrote product brand names on the board (yes, in the dark so they were not legible). The professor's response? "Wow, that is so powerful". I spent several thousand dollars on those (required) credits. The students in the class were just like the 2 "art experts" and would have clapped and awed at anything...
not a real degree
The beauty of art is that you can do pretty much anything and have it be meaningful. But beauty is sometimes a very relative term.
For those of you who don't understand this skit, It's pretty much making fun of the 'Modern Art" scene these days.
They were pretty much saying that no matter how stupid and ridiculous your artwork is, you can slap a couple of words or even a story behind it and SOMEONE is going buy into it and praise it for being so "deep" and "thought-provoking". I know this from personal experience, I used to attend an art college.
For example, there was a student in one of my art classes who did a performance piece in which he slammed a chair on the floor for 10 minutes straight. I kid you not, that was the only thing he did for 10 minutes. After he finished, the student said "I wanted to capture the vicious turmoil that rages in society today." My teacher along with the entire class erupted in applause. I'm thinking to myself "Am I missing something here, all I saw was a chair being slammed continuously on the floor for 10 straight minutes. Maybe I'm crazy."
Anyways, just thought I'd share that to anyone who was confused about this skit. Props to Key and Peele for doing this.
oh...i get it now.
And their excuse is usually over-emphasis on the word "abstract", and they say it with such stupid sad emotion just like the "dicknanigans" woman in this video.
Thanks for sharing that, I now know what this video is about lol

The style used to convey such a message is subliminally deep and can tap into the inner workings of your fading innocence. The lighting plays a factor too which emphasizes the emotional upbringing of the performers. Little does the audience know that the announcer was acting as a sort of sentient being involuntarily provoking the audience with a simple metronome of a word, absolutely marvelous. The colors are in a way conveying the ideology of the two party system with an eager yet subtle take to it. The only other time I've been moved by such art was when I visited the gallery in a dirty alley way with a dead hobo that symbolized the tyrant rule of the street rats. Such beauty in this work 0/10 because art should never be an expectation, or ranked.

People don’t understand that this isn’t satire. It is a post-modern critique of our current capitalistic society that focuses heavily on creating modern slaves towards corporation. This is absolutely brilliant. The green represents dollar bills and the red represent passion. We see each day the two attempts to co-exist but simply can’t. Can one truly achieve passion and financial security? The silent dialogue represent our attempt to cover this up, to not speak about the current issue in our society. The ‘sugoi’ show that even being in pain, we must continue to obey our superiors because we are indeed drones. Absolutely fucking bravo. Genius.
Well i thought it was just a joke but now it make sense... How can you 'see' this??
I was taking this seriously until the “green represents the dollar bill” bit.

I've watched this a lot but I just noticed the surprised/kind of jealous look on Jordans face when they threw all the roses only when he presented Keegans Dicknanigans.
