The sudden transition from SD to HD is honestly fantastic.
Lol they got the whole look right. The 4:3 aspect ratio, CRT Scan lines, the color glow. Great cinematography for like 45sec worth of footage on a 3 min sketch

That's how it really was tbh when we switched from SD to HD. Basically going from 480i to 720p was such a massive leap and then going to 1080i and 1080p was just insane.
We had TVs that were LCD Rear Projection and Plasma to choose from. Plasma TVs were just incredible in pic quality but suffered from burn in. And some TVs did 720p while some did 1080i so you had to choose between the 2. Personally I saw no diff but people used to swear progressive (p) was better than interlaced (i) so 720p > 1080i despite lesser info because of how the screen refreshed (full or partial in high speed). Overall, we've come a long way since that time - circa 2002-2003 and while we have 4K and 8K TVs today, the leap from SD to HD was truly dramatic and from 1080p->4K->8K is just minor gains tbh. I have a 50" 1080i TV still from 2004 and it looks absolutely fantastic and people today are unable to tell my 4K TV from the 1080i TV side by side for movies and sports.
This skit is THAT MUCH FUNNIER after seeing the original aerobic competition footage. Key n Peele even used the original music......so hilarious!!!

This short never fails to make me laugh. The fact that it borrows (heavily) from the video of the 1988 Crystal Light National Aerobic Championship, while also featuring Clint Howard, is genius. Also note that Peele continues to dance in place even while he’s on the ground.

@Cody Zeik its actually not a filter. They messed around for awhile with filter but couldn't get what they wanted so they got an old camera. Maybe know what you're talking about before being condescending.

@Cody Zeik It's not unheard of to rent an 80s camera for that effect. The movie Beyond the Black Rainbow was shot like that. It was too authentic looking to be a filter.

This straight up felt like a black mirror episode for some reason and I loved it!! That was EASILY the best and most realistic 80’s impression I’ve ever seen. The song is so damn catchy, and their faces are SPOT ON😂😂. This isn’t supposed to be funny really, but it’s probably in my top 3 favorite key and peele skits of all time for some reason. I get stuck watching it on repeat sometimes because of all the funny ass faces of literally everyone😂

The 80s tv effect in this skit is probably the most convincing one I’ve ever seen. Usually you could tell it’s a filter, but if you showed me the first minute of this skit and I didn’t know who Key and Peele were, I’d think it’s actually from the 80s.
I believe they said they actually bought a camera from the 80’s to record this sketch. Because it’s more difficult to create an accurate filter than it is to just buy an old camcorder.
100% agreed. There's only so much a modern filter can do to imitate all those grungy NTSC artifacts.... they definitely used some vintage gear to get this looking so right.

Nothing like a dark comedy sketch with a touch of vintage. Love it. Given Jordan Peele’s success in horror films, he probably wrote this.
This is a perfect spoof of the crystal light aerobics fit competitions from the mid to late 1980s. Absolutely perfect! Alan Thicke was the host and the aerobic floor had about 40 dancers on it all gyrating exactly the same way...just like Key and Peele.
This needs to be expanded into Jordan Peele’s next horror film

1 of the best sketches i've seen for a while! the coreography is on point
This is an almost indistinguishable parody of the Crystal Light National Aerobics Championship televised in 1988. Very impressed with how much they nailed it, down to the exact music and vintage live broadcast look! So funny!
They had to make, memorize, and perform a 3 minute dance for this sketch
The choreographer was actually cueing every move and the final sounds were dubbed over the footage. I saw a behind the scenes video of this on TikTok.
