  • If you have watched Hollywood blockbuster Transformers: Age of Extinction, Ghost in the Shell or even listen to Sing Me to Sleep, you may have already seen a building that is often referred to as the Monster Building. Due to its easy access, it has now become one of the most instagrammable spots in Hong Kong.
The “monster building” is actually not a single building, but a complex that combines five buildings together. These buildings are completed in the 1960s where the government tried to accommodate the additional population came from Mainland China.
Because this is the most popular instagrammable spot in Hong Kong, please consider the following before your visit:
First, there would be a few people, to say to least, to take pictures with you. Because this is a relatively open site, you probably only need to wait about 5 - 10 minutes for your turn to take pictures. We visited there on a Saturday and there were about 20 people waiting there. If this is a turn off for you, you may want to reconsider if you still want to go.
Second, please note that you are taking pictures at a private property. As a result, the management office erected a sign to ask people not to take photo without prior approval. While most people choose to ignore it, we recommend you to respect this WHEN a local comes up to challenge you. Please travel responsibly and do not cause a scene, so people can still enjoy this amazing site in the future.
If you also into seeing the nature of Hong Kong, there is a nice hiking trail that leads you to the Tai Tam Reservoir about 1.5 hours away from here. You can learn about Hong Kong sugar refining and Second World War history in this trail.
