The Drug dealer who got their friend killed. That genuinely upsest me. She acts like she's the victim in that scenario when she actively got her friend killed. State line or not. She genuinely infuriates me

Someone I’ve known since elementary overdosed on heroin in high school. That’s stuff is serious. I think that lady in black should be up higher because if this person I knew never got his hands on that stuff, he would probably still be here today.

Drugs is 100% worse than fraud. The amount of mental gymnastics that lady is doing in order to make herself seem better. She could have easily stopped selling to the person she killed when she noticed their situation declining

Nah. The person who bought and used those drugs knew what they we're doing. The people affected by fraud we're deceived into harming themselves. Consent is the key thing here.

@@FemboyKaiSaku We’re arguing which was the lesser of two evils, not advocating for either’s innocence. Selling heroin is also not ok, I just don’t think it’s as bad as mass fraud. The deaths caused by an unregulated drug market could easily be resolved with policy changes and government programs like those available in more progressive countries, but the US isn’t known for such reasonable actions.

Do I think intento matters when it comes to the severity of a crime? Yeah but it also matters how avoidable the crime is, DUI is one of the worst crimes because it shows a lack of care for yourself and for others. And causing someone to overdose is just as bad.

"Highly addictive drugs with significant withdrawal symptoms aren't bad, it's a choice!" People spend the next 20min explaining how addiction fueled them to commit crimes, then she goes on about how it wasn't her fault she HAD to get her friend drugs or he'd have lost everything (surprise, he truly did due to her actions, not inactions) and tries to plead how she should have gotten off scott free and that even her best friends parents thought so, too. Decriminalization doesn't work, I live in OR. She's in WA, she should fucking know this. She's not talking recreational use, she's talking functional addicts which really aren't functional at all. To reach this point, you are so heavily using that your body literally can't begin to function properly without the drugs. Pot guy got screwed, his actions are no worse than people distributing soda or coffee. Heroine though? Pot to heroine is a squirt gun compared to a fleet of naval warships.
She should still be in prison. Her charge should have been comparable to manslaughter, which can carry a sentence as severe as murder with more opportunity for early release. She actively shows a lack of accountability and remorse for the actions that led to her best friends death. That's why I say she should still be in prison. She feels bad he died, but believes her actions did not directly lead to what happened when they absolutely did. She thinks her charges should have been basically nothing, despite openly admitting to having committed several other crimes just in the minutes leading up to what she was eventually charged with. These would still be crimes even if heroine wasn't illegal. Drugs themselves aren't the problem, it's the compulsory behavior brought on by addiction and withdrawal.
When OR decriminalized, we looked at Amsterdam and failed to understand that they were dealing with almost exclusively recreational use. You have tourists fly in, try an assortment of minor drugs and leave. Not tens of thousands of people who are using enough in a single use to kill 10 normal people just to get out of bed. And these people either live in the area or are permanently moving here due to the decriminalization of heavy drugs.

Just to chip in on the overdose case (i’m at minute 21)- I have to agree that it’s really not as bad a crime (!) as most of the other crimes here, even though the outcome is undoubtedly worse than most others.
Because the crime here is them selling the drugs. If it was a first time user, it might be different - but the crime would be coercing somebody into drug usage, not the sale itself.
They also addressed overdosing various times - that doesn’t sound like selling out of malice but desperation due to addiction. That’s obv just an assumption tho.
Saying that it is fully the fault of the seller and not the consumer, doesn’t really make sense to me.
Honestly, nobody has ever sued a super market because someone died of alcohol poisoning, right?
In that logic, the DUI guy shouldn’t have been charged at all, but whoever provided him with the substance he was under…
Where exactly is the line supposed to be then? Illegality? Alcohol kills more people than weed, and that’s illegal in a shit ton of places… am I missing sth?

With drugs there is no telling what that person is going to do with the drugs, but it’s 100% not going to be used for anything good. They supply people with substances that can kill and aid other crimes. Fraud is not physically hurting people or tampering with their brain.
