The US has some... messy legal lines. So do most places but I hear about more issues with long sentences for more minor offenses from the US than elsewhere... but that could be population and proximity for me. (i.e. US is close so I'd hear about it more than say Australia, and they have like 9x our population so...)

Just learnt this about Florida, but you are charged $55.00 per day, and even if you have early release they continue charging you the length of your original term. The system is designed for people to fail.

@@ruckuslike I saw this tiktok of a woman who was released from their jail after ten months and they slapped her with a $127,000 bill. They also double charge for beds, so if a person is let out early, they continue charging that person while also charging the new person occupying the bed/cell. It’s really messed up

I just watched a video about this kid who wrongfully served nearly 6 years of a life sentence for a murder he didn’t commit. His older sister shot and killed her husband, convinced him to take the blame with her because he wouldn’t get a severe punishment whereas she could get the death sentence. That kid lost his whole childhood because of one confession with a couple intimidating cops looking for an easy case closed investigation.

If my calculations are correct, he's 32, he's been out for 2 years served 14 years therefore leaving prison at 30 which means he would of been 16 when he was sentenced.

Asian guy actually killed two gang members and shot another. That’s why he says first degree murder and attempted murder.
Yeah, it fucking SUCKS to be judged. I get it for my sexuality, because I'm pansexual; my criminal history, because I've been to prison for felony charges; for being poor and not having a job, mainly due to mental instability, although I have some physical limitations, and my application for disability hasn't been fully processed yet; for being overweight and for having a very big chest, self-explanatory. I was also judged for being homeless, which I had no control over, and it led me to drugs (I'm in recovery now) which is another thing I'm judged for. And, as a cherry on top, I'm stuck in a controlling and abusive relationship that I can't get out of. Wow, I totally just trauma dumped on here... sorry.
Thats a lot to deal with in one lifetime. I hope you manage to get out of your relationship. Can you find anyone to help you? Take out an IVO? Its amazing that your are in recovery. That's fantastic. Its not easy to find the strength to do that. It sounds like your doing your best ❤

I really don't like the feeling of being high, but I thought it was better to mentally escape than dealing with the terrible things that happened while living on the streets. All it did was complicate my life even more. Also, I TRY to reach out for help but, not only does he keep me pretty isolated, he's also VERY manipulative and a really good liar. Everyone thinks he's so sweet and such a great guy. Hell, I used to think that I was going crazy, forgetting everything, even thought I was the problem, until I managed to get clean and realized that he's spent our entire 9 year relationship, lying to, gaslighting, and using me! I feel so dumb! BTW, what's an IVO?

@@gifi4 I expect people to be courteous enough to not judge me for things that I can't change. Is that too much to ask for? Yes I have made mistakes, I never claimed to be perfect. Yes I prefer to do things my own way, not the way old time societal norms dictate. I'm not hurting anyone, so what exactly is the problem with this?
