@@KingDawg72 nah this back in October of 22 class 01-23 he’s enlisted he’s an 18x which is only enlisted… my honest advice if you wanna be SF you gotta really want it and I mean REALLY want it!! There were guys at Bragg on the weekends partying drinking getting fucked up in the barracks on the weekends because their mindset was mon-fri train workout etc. Saturday and Sunday party… nah it’s a whole ass training mindset 24/7! The dudes partying on the weekends quit or were dropped from the course! This is another reason why dudes in ODAs are in their 30’s 🤷🏽‍♂️ also you need to be a stud physically you better be running in the 12s for two milers sub 35s for the 5 miler sub 2:20 for the 12 mile ruck 45lb dry 65 hand release push ups (no more regular push ups and no more sit ups) and 10-15 strict pull ups!

When I was in,2006-2010, 18X was offered, I considered it, but decided to wait until I had experienced the infantry a little. We got some replacements in Iraq that did 18X, and they made it through to the end of selection, but weren't selected. They were told that they had the right stuff, but not to come back until they had re-enlisted. It seems, at that time at least, 18X was just a recruiting trick to fill 11B/C slots.

He should go NG like another commenter stated. They have programs where you go directly as support MOS into 19th or 20th SFG. You can hit Ranger school as an officer there and near everyone goes airborne before even hitting their unit. I’ve seen support guys go to CDQC, free fall, air assault, etc. And you can go to selection while in group. It’s the wrong mentality to go just for the fall back (so don’t do that) but if not selected at SFAS you just go back to SFG as support. You can hit SOCM as 68 series support and finish a year of the 18D pipeline that way before SFAS. I wish him the best of luck. Thanks for putting out the positive vibes and advice for the younger guys who need guidance.

This guy actually has a perishable skill that could be used in the military as a officer. Moreover, he will be a better fit for the Rangers because they will work with him as a Officer.
SF has a waiting list when it comes to officers as well, as enlisted. Whatever unit he goes to there will be other officers ahead of him. If he go to OCS the Ranger recruiters can recruit him from Officer Candidate School. The same with enlistees they can be recruited from the school house.

If he went officer he would need to go through selection before he is a 1LT(P). He would go through the Q course as a senior 1LT into being a junior CPT. From start to finish into an A-team if everything goes perfectly he’s looking at 6-7 years before he wears a beret in a team. His team time would be 18 months to 3 years depending on circumstance and then he would have to do a broadening assignment as a senior CPT. If he got picked up for MAJ then he would go back to group but I doubt he’d be on an A-Team again. He’d be on a B-Team or staff supporting the A-Teams within his group.
Now he could try and go CAG if he wanted to stay on “the line”….but the wash out rate for that is ridiculously high…

My reason for going enlisted instead of officer would be to have the ability to stay on an ODA for more than 2-3 years. 2-3 years is the average of how long they are on an ODA and then it's to a desk. Even when you are at an ODA, most officers don't get in the stack with the boys. Some do, but many don't because it just isn't their job. I want the experience that enlisted SF offers. Pay is doubled when you are an officer (+/-), but the pay isn't my biggest motivating factor. It is a factor, though. It's something that I keep going back and forth on.

Maybe I am wrong and the SF guys that I have talked to didn't give me the full picture of the difference between SF officer and SF enlisted. There is less flexability for SF officers than, for example, Seal officers (based on what you have said in your previous videos about Seal officers). I also understand than Enlisted SF (or any Enlisted SO) breaks your body. Thank you for your input, sir. I respect you.

@@NBAeverything17 This is the part i sort of clash with jake. Going in as an officer in terms of "big army" is a no brainer. You have more responsibility and get paid more.
Now an officer aspiring to go SOF has it a bit different. Not only would you have to spend a couple of years in the army, but you are held to higher competitive standards because of just how many limited slots there are for SF officers. Not to mention you'll only be on the team level for about two years before moving onto the command level. That's only a deployment or two if you're lucky.
What im saying is if the guy really wants to be a green beret and nothing else, then he should pick an 18x contract and go full send. Even if he doesn't and ends up taking some random job, he can contact an SORB recruiter and set up a screener to attend SFAS. No one can stop him.
