For Zeke he chose the world over eldians in a way .Zeke's plan is genocide (To eldians) with less pain while Eren's plan is genocide to the whole world ( plus some few eldians) but more brutal .

Eren was the son grisha wanted in Marley Zeke was the son grisha wanted in paradis , I feel so bad for Zeke for his father , for Eren I just feel bad for everyone in this show
I never looked at it this way. That's interesting. I don't think Eren was a bad son but I guess there's no montage with them playing catch lol.

@@文明メゾポタミア I guess I meant to point out that Eren seemed pretty chill until the visions in the cave and fulfilled his role as a loving son to Grisha. Since there is no evidence either way it's just an assumption. Good and bad aren't expressive enough words for me to attempt to describe the dynamics involved in their relationships. I had nothing to say or imply about Zeke in my comment but he was definitely a casualty of circumstance.
It’s crazy how one episode on his backstory can give you a whole new perspective on a character you hated the ever loving fuck out of. Isayama’s a legend.
Ksaver’s “If only I’d never been born” line, is to this day still one of the saddest lines in the show to me.
Agreed. I cant think of any other show where the flashback episodes are consistently so good and recontextualises what you understand about the show
yea the way the tone shifts for the Marleyans once you learn their backstories is so good.

Zeke's parents never raised him as a normal child. So from Ksaver's perspective it makes sense to denounce them in order to protect Zeke. :)
I think Grisha's biggest mistake is his failure at being a parent. Yes, the situation was dire. But he treated Zeke as more of a means to an end rather than an actual child. When he was born, he didn't say, "Thank Ymir for blessing me with this son", all he could think about was how his royal blood would help him fulfill his goal. Zeke didn't even seem to want to be a Titan. But he wanted his father to actually love him and spend time with him so much that he was willing to throw his life away. And even after he was trying his best, all he received was Grisha yelling and being disappointed at him.
*So when Tom actually seemed to care for him, it's no wonder that he bonded more with him than his parents.*
*Reciprocally in Zeke, Ksaver saw his dead young son and I think their relationship was really genuine. He didn't bond with Zeke for a Marleyan's interest that he actually doesn't really care for, he even said to Zeke that he was not interest in their war games, he didn't become himself the Beast Titan for Marley. Ksaver is a researcher who want to unravel the mysteries of the Titans as he explained.*

This anime has never disappointed me, from the first episode to the last, everything was perfect. 😢❤❤
I don’t think there has ever been a single episode of television I’ve seen that made me completely switch up on a character. The way this episode recontextualizes Zeke’s entire character while giving him one of the most unique motivations I’ve ever seen for a villain is incredible. Zeke went from like bottom three characters to my top 1 in the entire series when I first watched this. Rewatching Zeke’s scenes in season 3 makes everything click. His indifference towards death as he massacred Erwin and the other scouts with boulders seemed psychopathic, but in reality he genuinely believed he was saving those people and the lives they would give birth to.

You can see here that Grisha's two sons have approached things very differently:
* Eren believes that because he was born into this world, he's a special person who deserves to live an unrestricted life
* Zeke believe that if he had never been born into this world in the first place, he wouldn't have to have suffered so much for his entire life-and he projects that onto the rest of the Eldians as well

I remember watching this show as it was coming out in 6th grade. The new episodes would be released on youtube in the morning so id watch on the bus before they got taken down. I really grew up on this show im 21 now 😂😢

@@judaslann it's not about seeming pitiful it’s about the reality. All Levi did was lose people close to him, name a single person in this show who hasn't? Ymir for example literally slaved for 2000 years (felt like alot more due to paths) then Eren with all the founding titan fuckery and everything he did and had to do every scout probably lost all family etc. Losing people is bare minimum suffering in aot

After watching the entire series, I can confidently say I have not cried for anyone as much as I have for Zeke. I have a son and I just can't. When I see little Zeke I see my boy and I just can't imagine ever treating him like that. F everything, he is the only important thing to me.
You know an episode is fire when you get a ton of answers that are so important that they only have like one minute left to casually kill off Levi.

For subtitle definition sake, Zeke's plan is better described as "sterilization" not "euthanization." Sterilizing a population can be viewed as euthanization though
Yeah, he plans to "euthanize" the Eldian race by sterilizing the people it comprises.

the set of tom sawyer is the colonization time of europeans in america soil. so yeah, slavery still there. and it kinda fit with this tom ksaver guy. tom ksaver here, an eldian, is like the african. they being treated as a low class, u know. back then. no one want to get close to them.
but tom sawyer is european. not african.
Once you think they're done with the flashbacks...
Based on this episode, we could divide reaction into 3 categories:
1. Oh so that what was happened with Zeke, but I don't give a f**k with his backstory, he wiped out many eldians, he killed Erwin!
2. I do feel bad for Zeke, he just want a normal life with his dad, this show really gives you soo many different perspective, we do not know who is right or wrong anymore. But still, I root for Eldians from Paradis side.
3. WTF happened with Levi?!! Did he dead? No way!!

This show is messing with my head. Showing so many different perspectives on conflicts of our world literally, just to reflect that humanity is trash bcs communication doesn't work. People having different backgrounds and experiences so the observation is so different that it causes misunderstandings. But also everybody acts so foolishly. Like, if Zeke's plan was to save Eldians from suffering, why did he kill the scouts in s3 with so much fun?? Lack of fun in his childhood is no excuse to me 🕺

His story is sad sure, but no one in Marley as a Marlian or Eldian has a right to decide the fate of others in reproducing or not. If the world portrays such thinking in the citizens Of Marley, then the world is the problem- not the ancestors or the coming generation.
