The reason Eren looked so scared when he kissed Historia's hand was because not only did he see his dad kill the family, but he saw HIS FUTURE SELF TELLING HIS DAD to kill them, which is why he was extremely shocked.

I believe the attack titan doesn't have the innate power of seeing the future but instead from the point Eren enters paths he is able to send streams of the things he sees to Grisha & Kruger to manipulate things to achieve this outcome. Its a deterministic loop but we see it from our Eren's perspective so we are able to move forward

@@MyMainMan90 Ah, but the really nasty part is that Eren can send back ONLY the pieces of memory to ALL of the previous holders of the Attack Titan, he doesn't have to share all of it. Due to the Founder and Attack being held by the same person, Eren, he has controlled the fate of every single inheritor of the Attack Titan for 2,000 years. It's why the Attack Titan was never captured by Marley. Eren could use memories of the future to make sure it was never discovered who the holder of the Attack Titan was at every point in time.

Remember when Eren was still being kept imprisoned underground and had his freakout in front of Hanji, there was a scene where he was alone, looking into the mirror, staring straight into his own eyes and repeatedly chanting “fight”? Attack Titan inheritors see future memories from the perspective of their fellow inheritors/predecessors. By looking into the mirror at himself, he was most likely sending himself/Kruger/Grisha memories of an image of his reflection in the mirror, staring right at them and demanding that they remember to keep fighting with that incredibly grim, almost threatening expression on his face.

Something nobody gets on the first watch when Grisha notices Zeke in the basement is that was Eren. He was testing his ability with the attack titan. He sent his vision back to his dad of that moment, so when Grisha sat up asking if that was really Zeke infront of him, he was seeing that moment from Erens eyes. Prime example of the attack titans ability to send future memories (Erens) to a previous user (Grisha).

The author of the original manga for this amazing anime is Hajime Isayama. He was a Japanese man, the son of an ordinary farmer. Additionally, what's hard to believe is the fact that Attack on Titan is his first debut!!!😱
He was 19 years old when he first brought the original idea for this story to a publisher.
He grew up in a very small rural town surrounded by mountains. When he was young, he vaguely wondered what was beyond that mountain. He also wanted to get out of this small town. That was one of his important inspirations.

Grisha didn't so much hear future Eren, but remembered that he was there in that moment. The attack titan can send memories back to its previous holders (and be selective about it too), which means from their perspective, they can "remember" something from the future. And because Zeke put Eren into this memory, Eren was able to show Grisha this memory of Eren being there, coercing him into doing what he did. Basically, Grisha had memories of seeing through Eren's eyes. That's why he saw Zeke, because Eren was looking at him, for example in the basement. Or when Grisha pulled the key out he saw himself through Eren who was standing right in front of him. That's why he looked so disturbed at 9:12. This whole episode basically reveals that it was all Eren, all the way back to episode 1, if not even further. Remember the Owl knew about Mikasa & Armin, because that's Eren's memory. So how far did Eren manipulate not just his past self but also previous attack titan holders throughout history to lead everyone onto this path? This episode is when you learn that the whole previous part of the show is basically the villains tragic backstory. You should definitely re-watch this after you're done. Because now you can pay extra attention to the warriors and Eren and what they do and say, because there is a lot of foreshadowing and little easy to miss details that will blow your mind.

    A few things-
    1. we’ve seen paths before in s2 with Ymir when she “woke up from a long dream”
    2. everything you’re going to see in the next episode is already in the s2 outro that Isayama asked to storyboard, 7 years ahead of even writing it in the manga.
    3. Zeke could see Grisha because Eren was behind him, sending the memories through paths, allowing Grisha to see Zeke, so they didn’t really touch.
    4. When Eren stood in-front of Grisha when he left home, Grisha was seeing himself in 3rd pov through Eren’s memories, terrifying. You can see this hinted in chapter 1 of the manga
    5. this means Eren allowed Zeke to have the one thing he’s always longed for: a fathers love.
    6. It’s not time travel, and there is no paradox. Eren can do this because of 3 reasons, the founders power, the Attack power and the contact with royal blood that allows him to use the founder freely whereas a founder with royal blood would be bound to the vow.

The reason why Grisha appeared to be able to touch both Eren and Zeke is because by way of the Attack Titan's power, Grisha can peek into the memories of future inheritors, and the experience of seeing himself and Zeke from Eren's POV is so surreal that to them, they exist in the same time and space and are thus able to interact with each other as if physically together.
That's also why Grisha only sees Zeke from Eren's POV, and never explicitly reacted to Eren's presence, he's essentially staring at an estimation of where Eren's at when he's "looking" at him, when he's actually seeing himself from his POV.

Overall i thonk AoT handles flashbacks very well. Like 10 seconds into it you forget its a flashback and are like * WAIT WHAT?!?.

We did see a hint to the Attack Titan's ability, which was the Owl mentioning saving Mikasa and Armin to Grisha.

Remember earlier in this season when Eren was repeating “fight” in the mirror locked in his cell right before he threatened Hange? That was him sending memories to Grisha so all of this can take place.
That’s also how Grisha is seeing Zeke: through Eren’s eyes, Eren’s memories.

I'm finally getting my fiancée to watch AoT, and we're just getting into season 2. She hasn't watched any other anime besides bits of One Piece which i promised her I'll try if she gave AoT a chance.
She was hooked with the season 1 cliffhangers and talks about her theories and I'm just like "yeah that's a great thought" because of how unexpected things actually turn out.
I honestly can't wait until she sees the end of season 3 onwards. I think her brain will actually break as to why out of all the shows we've ever watched together, I kept telling her this one anime is special.

The parallel between Attack Titan and Founding Titan is mind-blowing,
Founding Titan's power is defined by it's predecessors but the Attack Titan's power is ultimately controlled by it's successors.

The crazy thing is- there's only one writer. His name is Isayama and he surely is insane but so fn good xD Take a look at his soft pure face after you ended aot
And it's so crazy that I almost forget Zeke slaughtered my man Erwin PLAYFULLY with joy after we've got all these Zeke episodes. Like I almost forgot him. Yes I surely feel bad for him but he wasn't even sorry that he killed all my scouts and the commander we needed for s4

Now I'm waiting for your reactions to the other plots and plot twists 🤭🤭🤣

Is crazy to think about but the way grisha is able to see zeke is that eren is willingly at that time using the attack titan power to send memories of what he is looking at right now to his dad, so his dad was looking at zeke from eren’s pov, is like he was looking at himself talking to zeke. Mind blowing

I have theories that might be right and might be wrong.. I believe everything happened to Grishia and his sister wasnt Grishia’s fault. It was Eren who convinced young Grishia to go out and to take his sister with him specifically, because obviously Grishia himself would have known the consequences of this action and going to an open space like the one they went to; to just see a blimp. Eren knew what the fat Marlyan solider did to the sister from Eren kruger’s memories. Therefore Eren is the one who planned the meeting between his dad and Eren kruger (the owl). and later on for his dad to be punished while watching all of his mates getting mur*dered infront of his eyes, Eren did this just to boost the revenge spirit in his dad’s mind and keep his dad in check all the time by reminding him about that wall moment specifically. And also it was Eren’s plan for his father to name Eren after Eren kruger.

Explanation: Grisha and all other attack titans before him have the power to see the MEMORIES of the future attack titans. But this is not as simple as that. In case of Eren he can sent his selected memories of his life to his past inheritors of attack titan (That is why Grisha didn't know fully about the future whether if Carla is safe and all.. But he still entrusted Eren the power of attack titan because of something Eren showed him about the future to keep moving forward).
Coming back to the question how is Eren able to talk to Grisha? Literally speaking.. He is not or he cant. But Zeke brought him to the memories of Grisha destroying Royal family and Grisha is only seeing the memories (due to attack titans power) of Eren being in the memory then and there. This explains why Grisha is able to see Zeke as well. Grisha is not seeing zeke, instead he just sees Eren's Memories of Eren looking at Zeke then and there at that moment (Grisha just hugged air basically and not zeke). In Grisha's head all these memories are playing like a nightmare. He dose not see anything... its just lots of memories flowing in into his brain about the future of what Eren is showing him.
NOW THE QUESTION COMES HOW DID EREN NEW ABOUT ALL THIS? (Because current attack titans can only see future attack titans memories). This is were the moment of Eren kissing Historia's hand comes in to place. Eren saw glimpses of everything...not it Full Detail..but... But he saw glimpse of everything that is going to happen in the future. He saw the memories of Zeke taking himself TO Grishas memories. Thats when he snapped. Remember Eren being cold since then?
At this point Eren is just playing along. He knows whats coming... whether zeker dosnt like it or anyone else goes against him, it dosent matter. Because eren knows what going to happen. Grisha is not able to see the full details of the future. That is why he is asking Zeke to stop eren.
