I might be wrong, but I think you want the lowest number in the upper right and the lowest level on the bar graph when setting the IQ balance and high/low phase. But then you explained more in the end. I’ll have to double check the alignment on mine to make sure I did it right.
I had to film that part twice, the camera lost audio... My radio is double aligned now. Good luck!
You are correct. Think of the bar graph as fractions of the number in the upper right.

I have built one of those ATU/AMU though mine has 7 toroids and 7 capacitors 15 relays with the pic chip and the screen. Though I had to flash the chip as it wasn't pre programmed

@@temporarilyoffline yes very, thought it did get a little hot with 95W of ft8 running through it the other week. I posted a picture in the ft8 off discord room still works beautifully thought
