Celine’s high part is just PERFECTION 🔥 there’s a reason they gave the hardest part to her. Fun fact, she did it on one take 😅
Yeah, that was Cyndi Lauper's part in the original
❤❤❤
The guy you said had a classical tone is Josh Groban . And bald black man you did not recognize is Bebe Winans. So very glad you did this!!! ❤❤❤
I’m surprised he didn’t recognize MaryMary.. He called them Floetry ** 2 singers who i absolutely love ** 💕
Wasn't the black dude Brian McKnight?
@@anonymousMist No, that was BeBe Winans. 😁
I love the grin you are just not able to hold back listening to this. It’s nice to see you looking genuinely pleased. 😊
I like when Jamie Foxx sang his lines as Ray Charles ❤❤ He won the Oscar for the film Ray
I'm so glad you reacted to this version too. I love the first but the mix on this one is such a cool representation of the music industry at that time. Major kudos to the producers and engineers - hats off.
Wyclef is Haitian. You know that. I especially enjoyed the part at the end when pronounced Haiti correctly. As my wife points out very proudly " its not Hate ee it's Eye I tee" 😉
Snoop talked about how he and Hustle wasn’t supposed to be there. I think it’s cool how they were brought up and given a part in the song.
Both songs make me cry. It's beautiful how all these artists came together ❤️. Wyclef has a unique voice but he's from Haiti he probably felt how could I not sing on this song and it was in their native language. I throughly enjoyed it.
I hope the music industry continues to do this.....there is something so powerful about so many incredible voices joining for a cause. They are the best of us. So powerful. ❤
A time when everyone in the world would still come together and work together.
Celine ❤🔥🔥🔥
Wow.. I've never heard this... I know the original.. I was a senior in HS when that came out.. this is strange to me.. but still amazing. I can't truly say I love it.. my first time hearing this version.. the original was just so special to me.
If you look close you can see Vince Vaughn just chilling there
I am an old guy who really appreciates the talent of new artists. I may not be a fan of the music, but the talent is there
The Lil Wayne, Akon, and T-Pain back to back was so good. That was my favorite part when hearing this as a child.
I only knew Josh Groban cause i'm a TESD listener 😂(also Wyclef brought me back to original south park music cd)
5:00 BeBe Winans a gospel singer😊 brother of Cece Winans billion dollars in that video😂
Brought me to tears AGAIN just like the first time. We need more of this!
That's the first time I've heard that song. I liked it
Also, thank you so much for the Wyclef praise. Such an underrated artist forsure.
This came out when I was a kid and I saw it on TV and watched it over and over I remember rewinding it on my DVR all morning
I knew you would love this! The same but different
I’m an OG; I was 10 when the original dropped in 1984, out; it was truly iconic! old school rules! get me wrong. This one is cool; but nothing beats the original! 11:09
This song and this reaction ALWAYS gives me goosebumps. gotta love it.
This version had sooo much more ego than the original. It’s cool all these people came together, but it just isn’t the same sentiment as the original.
If there was ever a demonstration of generational divide, here it is.
Love to Haiti, love to the musicians who volunteered their time. I applaud the idea of creating a new song to embrace the same sentiment and spirit the first was created... but this seems lazy and a bit like a newer generation trying to better than the last.
There's another one singers from Canada 🇨🇦
This is more of the gen you're obviously more familiar with than the original. The 'classical' guy is Josh Grobin. You should check out his music. You will definitely see why you called him classical 😊. Idk if you've ever heard of the song 'You raise me up'. This is a JG song. Anyways, thanks. 🙏👏
You were right about Tony Bennett, and now he just passed away 😢
Something about Wyclef in this one brings me to tears every time.
You should check the Waving Flags - for Haiti , wich was released around the same time, but by All Canadian Artists instead of All "USA"
I love the rap verse because there's so many rappers who wanted to help that they could make up a choir
The blond after Jennifer is another Jennifer lol Jennifer Nettles, she's from a country/pop band Amazing voice, Jamie Fox did Ray Charles' part since he played him in the movie I love the look on Jennifer's face lol, Fergie was there, the guy you were impressed with is Josh Groban he's an R&B singer,❤
And Diana Ross is no Janet❤
When I first saw this many years ago, and having also seen the first we are the world, I was torn whether I liked it. I could tell what they were trying to do, to mix the soul of the original. And to pay homage to their musical peers. But also to express the music of today, I'm not sure it quite worked but I think everyone was giving their all. And it showed the diversity of music past to present, music cannot and should not, like any facet of human evolution stand still. And at the end of the day, regardless of your feelings of music in general. They came together to try and do something worthwhile and good, and for that alone I have to raise my glass to them. I think it will go down in history as interesting, and that's okay because doing something is better than doing nothing.
You should check out the heavy metal equivalent of we are the world, Hear 'n Aid (An All-Star Album For Famine Relief) with the song "Stars".
FULL LENGTH VERSION!!
This was really, really cool.
I was 8 when this released I remember this cause this was advertised everywhere in local tv so we really looked forward to the simulcast and I'm so glad I got to be part of the people who originally looked forward to this releasing back then. I remember waiting for Nicole sherzinger cause pussycat dolls were my absolute favorite group and I was not disappointed.
You looked so contented watching this video, lol.
I didn’t even know about this version
This is cool ... I missed this
there was also "Band Aid - Do they know it's Christmas" 1984 + 2014
Try Give Peace a Chance by the Peace Choir. It was another collaboration. Within the last years, Ben Platt and Lin Manual Miranda did a mash up from the Broadway Musicals Hamilton and Dear Evan Hanson for the March for our lives. It's called Found/Tonight. It's smaller, but really cool.
That was Mary Mary, a gospel duo,,,,not Floetry.
I love this version so Much. A lot of time you cant beat the original but this one is right up there with it..
Want to react to more like this, you should react to "Whats Going On" by MTV all stars.. Its a whole bunch of Singers and Rappers covering Marvin Gayes "Whats Going On" its amazing. Nobody reacts to it. Its very underrated ❤
I've always loved the original. I love this one also, maybe a little more even though I don't know many of the artists.
There are an older version, with alot of 80s, 90s artists, its just as good if not even better.
He already reacted to it.
RIP Mr Tony Bennett
Replacing Michael Jackson would've been sacrilegious. They left it in his honor.
I wouldn't sell the newer artists short. I think if the need was there and the call went out, there are a host of extremely talented people who would respond and participate.
I cry... humanity... 😢❤
Yes now that you have heard Josh Groban you must hear his song "You Raise me up".
YOU WILL KNOW - BLACK MEN UNITED
thank god i’m not the only one who still listens to this
i love the rap part and lil wayne...get it boy. ❤️
You should do waving flag that is also a song where many artist comes together
WOW.. 💖
It’s YCLEFF! And he’s Haitian😁😁🤗
Does anyone have a list of appearances in this? It’s always posted with the 80’s one. I don’t know who many of these people are. Edit: I’m old, and knew everyone in the 80’s one, lol.
I remember these times... after Haiti, it's The Philippines.
The 1st generation was Josh Groben. He is amazing.
They filming this 2009 after michael jackson death. Man with classical voice is Josh groban
Rappers needing that auto tune!😂😂 (Lil Wayne and Akon)
Yep 😂
Where you in space? That you never heard this b4 🤔😅
Wyclef NPR TIny Desl is amazing. Of course.
RIP Tony Bennet!
That was Mary Mary
There was one made in the UK in 2017 in aid of Grenfell Tower disaster
I forgot about this dude channel and I went “why am I not subbed”
Then I saw all the Tom Macdonald reactions and went “oh yeah”
There’s also a Spanish version! I know you’ve reacted to several Spanish speaking artists, and you also speak Spanish so you’d like it. Or at least enjoy the differences, at least Shakira, Taboo an Ricky Martin are there! Just search “Somos el mundo”
The guy you said has a classical voice is josh Groban. And you might actually have heard of him before. He had a massive hit called You raise me up years ago. Or at least he sang it. Idk if he had anything to do with the writing or anything.
3:52 - No irony to see here people. Lets keep it moving!
Only myley cyrus that i listen too from this bunch , i have only heard of 3 or 4 of the names you mentioned in this one, much preferred the original with paul simon and bruce springsteen. Maybe showing my age 😄
It was the tsunami this came out in 2012
I love these kinds of collaborations. Along those lines, you might like some of the Playing For Change videos, which aspire to bring the world together through music. The Weight is one of my favorites.
ruclips.net/video/ph1GU1qQ1zQ/видео.html
Both renditions of this song are amazing. The original is an absolute classic but the musical twists with the 2nd are done so well. They nailed these
I absolutely agree. I will always hold the original version close to my heart, however, the flavor and artistry of this version leads me to prefer this one.
Weeclef 😭
There's a much better version that came out later that year - Somos El Mundo por Haiti. It was a Spanish language version of We Are the World sung in Spanish with Latin and Spanish artists. You don't have the terrible amount of autotune, and the one rap part is much better done (more like a chant).
thank god, lets see that
😂😂😂😂 your reaction to lil Wayne
I wish the screen was brighter. It was hard to see the singers through the screen filter 🤷🏾
Not a patch on the original to be fair.
You duno Josh Groban!!!!! 😱
Recorded in 2010.
Well someone has a man crush
I was 12 years old when the original version came out, you couldn't go anywhere without hearing about the song. This version I literally didn't even know existed until a couple years ago.
Besides the lack of promotion, this also sounds like a bad karaoke version of the original. Instead of letting the artist shine in their own voices, they're trying to imitate the original song, tonality and phrasing.
You are a big fan of Wyclef Jean but didn't mention the fact that he is FROM Haiti - for whom this was a fundraiser for? I'm sure it was super personal to him. I went to Haiti after the earthquake to work - this is a completely G-rated version they are showing.
Wish Whitney Houston was around for this. Still an amazing song.
Bebe Winans was after P!NK
Josh Groban was the classical singer
I was into it until all auto tune started. Nothing was going to stand up to the original, but this did have talent in it just wish that they would have stuck with people singing with their own voices. Had to bow out once all that got going.
I didn’t see Kodak Black and he’s from Haiti
React to the Latin American version 🙏
This music video actually wasn't very well received by a lot of people when it came out, and SNL did a very funny skit about this!
Now this reaction was appropriate! I've seen many people react to this and its like they just dont get it. Some of our greatest voices together, and Wyclef taking center stage at the end, putting his soul out there for his country 🤎 everything about this is so beautiful
Fugees does not have a bad album people who think the debut is bad are crazy
My only issue with this version is the autotune.
Yeah, this was rough. I recommend looking up the big collab that was done around 9/11. Also, LL Cool J is so corny.
Yeah, this is why this track disappeared never to be heard again until now. They should have done a totally different track rather than a version of the original. It’s like someone took a vintage bottle of wine and diluted it with water like a cheap orange squash.
Josh Groban
sooooo many boomer haters in the comments my god this was for a good cause, this is why we can’t have nice things, just don’t listen to it??
I had never heard this rendition and did not care for it. I was struggling to listen to this. There was a lot of talent, and yet it sounded lackluster.
Too bad Hatti got screwed by the Clinton Foundation, but oh Chelsea got a grand wedding of it.😔
too bad about your face yeesh
@@bdavis0344 is that suppose to hurt me. Yeesh..get a life at least I'm not afraid to show mine.
