    London is fast paced and has its own manic energy.
    If you’re not careful, the fast paced City work/life grind will actually chew you up.
    Rentals like this eat a chunk of your earnings each month and keep you running on a treadmill like a hamster - moving, but not going anywhere.
    Post Covid - a lot of us have relocated and travel into the City as and when we have to - checking into a hotel for a few days instead.

    I've gotta say this makes me slightly less depressed about my own living situation in London for a change. I've lived with my partner for 10 years so I don't pay rent, they secured a fixed tenancy in 2000 in zone 1. It's a one bedroom flat, just by Old Street, Moorgate, Bank etc. which really boomed in terms of luxury apartments, businesses, class and safety. The building itself is Victorian, but there is a separate bedroom, a living room that is probably about the size of the £3,200 apartment itself. A separate kitchen that's about the size of the living room/kitchen area alone. Its own separate bathroom. Granted, it's not got all the luxury services but I've turned half my living room into my own personal gaming, TV, entertainment, workspace etc. Granted there is no Thames view or balcony but I don't like heights and the Thames is filthy. It's definitely possible to score much better apartments in Zone 1 for much cheaper and be in walking/a short bus or tube journey away from everything zone 1 has to offer in Central London. If you don't mind not having rentable games consoles etc.? Bit of a random pointless addition to that building in my opinion, surely if you were earning that much you'd be able to afford to buy your own?

I often take walks in the area near US embassy and was glad to see what the inside of those apartments looks like as I was curious. Have noticed that very close to the location of blocks of apartment that’s on this vid there what seemed like couple of penthouses (on top floor) on the river facing apartments opposite to Vauxhall Uber boat pier. Two if I’m precise in a green and white building. Must say they looked penthouses as they were on top floor but I might be wrong too and if they’re occupied then it’s probably not gonna there for u to film but if they’re available then it’d be great if we could see them on this channel. These actually look like very nice apartments, yes they might not be the size you are expecting but they are luxury and well built. The area, Nine Elms is very modern, secure, and well conected to the center. Its also close to Battersea Power Station which is beautiful and full of shops and restaurants. Plus the amenities the building has like lounge spaces, gym, inside park for kids, swimming pool with jacuzzi and barbecue are all top quality, similar to some Miami buildings. But remember this is London, space is scarce and very expensive! If you are between 30 and 40 years old and make $120k a year by yourself and you share this with your girlfiend I thinks its reasonable. Yes, expensive but remember you are living in the city center of one of the most expensive cities in the world. Great apartments, congratulations to the developer.

    Two bed: is much better lit bc it's clearly larger and doesn't look like they stuck an apartment in a hallway. Also, the choice to keep the walls light enlarges the space.

It is bothering me, who cleans the barbecues and the rentable kitchens after use? But, having gone past Nine Elms several times, I have wondered what they were like inside and what they would need to offer to tempt people to live in that jungle of skyscrapers. Having all those shared amenities seems like a good idea so people aren't just living in their isolated little boxes.

    Professionals that make good money can make poor budgeting decisions. Professionals that make over £120k know how to balance their accounts.
    People who make 120k/year have enough sense to cap their rent cost at £2500 MAX! To spend £3,200/month on rent you’d need to make £160k a year. People making that kind of salary would not live in this shoebox.
    The only tenants paying that for these flats would be foreign students.
    5-7 years ago I used to see homeless people occasionally. They were often high or drunk. These days I see about a dozen just going from my flat to the shop at any given time. I see people in sleeping bags reading books and typing documents on laptops! This video explains why! A flat that should be affordable to a mid-late 20s professional earning 60-70k is priced for 40 year old executive salary who would never actually live in it.
    That isn’t luxury. It’s lipstick on a pig!

      You’d be left with 72k after the rent alone if you want to take away 4-5k for bills which is an overestimate you’d still have 67k left. If you can’t live on 67k after rent and bills then you do not have any financial sense

    • @mubblemann
      @mubblemann 2 месяца назад +2

      @@omarilowe451 Oh dear. You can't even work out basic finances. £120k a year is £6,300 a month net. Take away £4,000 rent and you have £2,300. This is £27k a year to live on, not £67k. So now you have £2,300 per month. Council tax will be £300, pension payment of £500, food £500, monthly travel card £165. Now you're left with £250 a week and to cover utility bills, clothes, car payment, petrol, socialising etc.
      I can tell you're very young and clearly haven't had to manage any sort of income before. But that's ok. Just take the time to learn rather than trying to act smart. Good kid.

Dont try and flip the script to suit your narrative. It’s £4000/month TAKEHOME dummy. And based on my previous comment one can easily afford to live there on £4000/month take home and I’m sure even as stubborn as you are you will agree to that. The fact that you made wild assumptions without knowing anything about me shows you are stuck up your arse and think you know it all. Short answer, no. It's just crazy to have 120k income and nothing to show for it. Better to live in a far out shed for a couple of years and then have 200k£ invested instead of donating that to the investment bank that built the grossly overpriced building. Imagine living there for 10 years having earned 1.2million pounds and it's all gone. When you could have been financially independent by investing instead.
