E36 knuckles also allow for a longer shock because of the pass through shock body.
Adjustable KPI through shimming the lower coilover mount bolts.
As well as the 96-98 non-m knuckles have better trail, not that it matters in this situation.

There is also one other HUGE advantage to run E36 knuckles on E46. Probably the best single change I have made to my car.
no rack boots, rack will be unhappy quite fast ;) Other then that....bowler. Would like to test it some day (as I'm making my homemade 'own' solutions for myself) and feel the difference between the some-noob-guy-parts who learns from pros (from you especially, Josiah!) and a seriously PRO parts...but probably will never happen. Those coilovers are brand new, all you had to do was buy the bottom mounts as they are all exactly the same from e30-e46
