    I went through the entire video and there's a lot of valuable info yet the trick/rule of thumb I use is not mentioned so here we go. As a base, try to keep your wheel speed around 2x your ground speed. You can do a grip lap and find out your rough ground speed with either the speedo or rpm or use gps while drifting. So, let's say for Bikiernieki you go about 100km/h real speed in the faster bits, then you gear for 200km/h. You can go as low as 1.5x but you will lose a lot of control and gain some speed and up to 2.5x if you can spin it for massive angle and smoke but less speed. Hope this helps.

    I was the one who asked for this in the last video. Thank you so much for clarifying so much and yes this could use a deeper dive and I would love one, but I’m not going to ask for that coz you’ll properly have problems with viewer retention if you do 😅

    You should consider making a blank track log book to sell. People need to realize this kind of knowledge and forethought when it comes to setup isn’t just conversational, it’s real world advice that people can take to the track. I write notes on the window of the car for setup changes and current alignment specs, and if I finish the day and I didn’t like how it felt I know immediately what could be changed. Great content!

      @@FDFraceshopjust if we could maybe get a ideal ratio of car speed to wheel speed? I know it changes from tire to tire and woth horspower numbers but maybe just to get a guideline for a starting point of where our wheel speed should be to start?

    Really cool and thanks for sharing. I have a question that is difficult to convey. With all of these changes in setup does the driver feel like they have to relearn the car to a certain degree? Is there a certain point where lack of experience and cognitive load of the way the car is driving different outweighs the vehicle performance benefit? I guess this is a question of driver skill vs cognitive load vs vehicle performance.

    Does wheel diameter actually effect wheels speed? I know the number goes up but isn’t it pretty much saying the vehicle will go faster but the wheel spins at the same ratio so you only gain vehicle speed with bigger wheel ratio?

    • @bennyb.1742
      @bennyb.1742 6 месяцев назад +1

      It is a bit of a puzzle, but think of it like this: A tiny wheel rotates more at a given car speed than a big wheel. So when you smoke the tire on a small wheel, its going at a much greater RPM than a larger wheel spinning the tire at the same overall car speed. It's easier to think of it in wheel rpm I think. The "wheel speed" thing listed as mph is weird IMO. It would actually be really cool for a nerd like Josiah to run wheel speed sensors and figure it out as a percentage of front vs back!

    • @OctavChelaru
      @OctavChelaru 6 месяцев назад

      Yes it does, while it would have the same angular speed, due to the different diameter the ground speed will differ as well.

    • @Deathreaper782
      @Deathreaper782 6 месяцев назад

      Think of a larger diameter wheel and tire combo as a taller gear ratio.
