You're my hero! I didn't even know it was called a window sweep. Bought an 85 Regal a few months back and my driver side window sweep got so bad it just fell inside the door so I think it's about time to replace em lol. Thanks for the video!

No problem. You can also use flush rivets.

My window rattles like a snake when I hit a bump and/or shut the door, and the driver's side goes up and down funny, passenger side goes up slow as a turtle. Gonna take the panel off and hopefully fix all of that at once. Thanks for the multi purpose video. 😎

Classic GBody Garage I have a 1981 Malibu sedan. Is this considered a gbody? If so what drivetrain would you recommend to replace the stock v6 with?
@Classic Gbody Garage have you done any videos on 307 intake manifold gaskets? Starting to peel into my 86 regal and you videos have helped alot. Especially the tps replacement on the quadrajet.
What size tires do you recommend for the front and back. I want bf goodrench t/a to give the car a more aggressive look. I got 14 inch size rims.

My first car as a kid was an 1981 monte carlo, In 2001 I bought a new monte carlo, traded it in in 03 and got an ss, traded the 03 in in 06 got another ss.
Definitely need to do this to my regal

The sweeps aren't designed to keep the glass stable. There a couple of adjustable rubs there. You put em right where you want them. I believe I even put a piece of carpet in there too....no scraping. Enjoy your channel. (78 Grand Prix)
The window guides is what you are referring to, so the guides and inner and outer sweeps all work together to keep the glass stable. You can't rely on just one or the other. The guides need to push against something and that is the out sweep. The inner helps keep things tight. Keep your guides as is and remove the sweeps on your 78 GP and tell me if the glass becomes loose...I am certain it will be. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

Nice video. I was looking for some info on this before I do the outer weatherstrips I have here for my 82 Cutlass. Just did TH250 trans pump inner and outer seals that was a lot of fun LOL.
I liked your GBody dash video. I did practically the same thing except the speedo was shot and I was able to get a Sun Speedo in there. Fuel gauge quit recently ( over " F " issue ) and the ground was redone by the trunk so I may pull the dash out again. Just to check contacts. Nice Channel here. Have an 83 and 84 cutless sitting in my yard under tarps, my pops has been saying that we would rebuild them for over 10 years now.
Start on them yourself.
Should do a video on how to put the window back on track/fix stuck power windows on g-body’s
If they come off the track there is an issue with the track and needs to be replaced.
It’s best to use the 9/32 screws it comes stock with cause if your window stops rolling down and you have to replace the sweep down the road you won’t be able to get to those Phillips with the window there but you would be able to get to the 9/32 screws I had this problem before

You are better off replacing the entire mirror.
Hi Brian great video. Quick question, Where would you look for a rear bumper for a 79 Grand Prix? Also, do you know if a cutlass or regal bumper would fit? I don’t have one so anything would be better than nothing. Thanks
any Gbody bumper will bolt up as the frames are the same. Regarding where to find...Classic Gbody Garage FaceBook page, FaceBook market place, ebay, craigslist, junkyard etc.
Some replacement sweeps came with staples. is it a certain tool to replace the staples? And not use Screws?
You would have to use an industrial stapler or you can use flush rivets.
I have an 85 El Camino with a custom pearl white paint, a fuel injected LT-1 from a Corvette with 4 speed auto overdrive and a Buick Grand National rear diff. That's my little hot rod. I want to replace the chrome trim that runs over the door. I see they are available but are they difficult to install and remove the old ones without scratching the paint? I also want to replace the electric window motors as they run slow so when I do that i might as well replace the sweeps while I'm at it. Thanks for the great tips.
Sounds sweet! You can remove the trim with a plastic trim remover tool and also the trim screws to the door on either end so make sure you remove those first.

Question? I have an 85mcss and an 87mcss t top parts car and most places i look they have different part# for 87-88 doors is the only difference in the 85 and 87 is where the side mirrors bolt on only difference i can see or is there something else love the videos and thanks in advance!

why not, its not hard
upper portion of door panel is a particle pressed board I would never tell anyone that owns a classic car to just grab and pull on it to take it off. always use the proper clip removal tool these door panels are getting harder and harder to find. If you just grab it and pull you willl pull the clip out of the panel and can damage it. use caution when removing it and use the proper tool that can be bought for next to nothing even harbor freight sells them.

Hi Brian thanks for this video i just installed my sweeps. Now im looking to replace my roof rail seals, they come up the A pillar and across the roof then down the quarter pillar. It looks like originally there was a track that screwed on the body and the rubber seal attaches to the track? Im missing everything. Can you point me in the right direction for replacement parts for this? Thank you.

Not difficult to put back on. The slide wheel may come out of the vertical track but just put it back in through the bottom if it does

Need to remove the small vent windows then there is a bracket that holds the door glass in place that needs removed, remove the glass then remove the sweep.

The sweeps are all the same, you are referring to the molding which you need to hunt down from ebay or Classic Gbody Garage on Facebook
After watching this video, i removed the window stop and I still wasnt able to get to the other hidden screws. The power window didnt go down any lower. What do I do now.

They are large phillips head sheet metal screws. Hardware store would have them.
Outer Felt Sweeps...on my have the chrome sweep.....

I took off the bolt like you said but my window still won’t go down far enough to reach one of the bolts what do I do ?

I have a 85 Cutty I gave a full Tune up to and Red top battery replaced. Starter and Alternator replaaced too. Car still has Problem starting what might it be?
Hard time cranking, as in cranking slow? Or just doesn't start? Battery cables possibly or could be fuel related. I can't really say without hearing it.

Everything interchanges with any other 2 door Gbody except the upper rear quarter glass panels.
I would love to know what part number that is. I have a buick Regal GN and it has the aluminum (painted black) top outside trim piece on the car. I ordered the belt sweeps from RA. I ordered the 'black bead'. I now know that is the WRONG outer piece. None of these guys can mark their parts with a description to identify the version they are selling.

The metal brace at the top is most likely stapled to the door panel itself. You will have to pull one apart to find out.

I would like to know the part # of the sweeps used in this vid as these look exactly what I need for my Pontiac 6000. G body or A body i don't think the tooling is different on these sweeps.
A FWD Abody is much smaller than a Gbody and the doors and window configuration are completely different so yes the tooling will be different. You might be able to cut them down to size and make them work. Go to Dixie's site which is linked in the description and you can pull the info on the sweeps there.
I have a 78 Cutlass 5 speed and an 80 need sweeps for both. Don't see cutlass Parts at Dixie Know any dealers that cover my cars and years. Seems pretty hard to find parts for these years of cutlass
These should be the same as the 78-80 Cutlass. I matched them up and looked identical but didn't swap any out yet. Call Dixie and ask. Tell them Classic Gbody Garage sent you and you will get 10% off.
