Second guitarist doesn´t get solo yet because when she started the band she didn´t know how to even play guitar. Originally she was supposed to be singer but realized her voice might not be most suitable for the sound they were going for. So they brought in another singer and second guitarist started to learn how to play guitar from the lead guitarist and also add heavenly backup/secondary vocals. Pretty much every album has a song where she has solo song also. Nowdays she is becoming better and better on guitar and gets some times to shine on guitar also. All of their Maid costumes are unique and made after their personalities. At first they were more similar but every year or few years they make new ones that look less and less like actual Maid costumes. Only second guitarist one looks like actual Maid costume because she actually used to work in Maid cafe and it is very suitable to her bubbly personality. Band members themselves consider these costumes their Battle uniforms and have said it helps with perfomance anxiety if they don their costumes. Their newest costumes can be seen in their live song Hate? and the newest ones look kinda gothic? Thank you for checking out Band-Maid and welcome!
New Band Maid fan "Oh there's no way there's a bass solo" MISA: Hold my beer. (then give it back). I see you started with Bestie - Bestie is like when you go to your favorite restaurant and see the chef is doing something very different from their normal menu - you can appreciate it more when you already know the chefs 'main thing', and enjoy seeing them try something different with their same expert level of expertise and professionalism. Great vid!
I cannot believe you haven’t seen this before?!? Band-Maid are something else, I’ve only seen them live five times and can’t wait for the sixth. They have a lot of music out there, live is where it’s at, the newer stuff is more technical than the early / mid-career stuff but that music is more accessible and catchy. The earliest is not their own music either, they really came alive when they started writing their own songs. There are a few fan made documentaries out there and they are really worth watching to get a sense of who Band-Maid are and why they are so special.
Of course there was a bass solo; MISA plays lead bass. You need to listen to all the BAND-MAID songs. But try PLAY, from the same concert, next. Then, FREEDOM.
A funny story about that "little powwow". What the Maids are doing gathering around Akane, the drummer, is practicing Hengao. It's the Japanese practice of making funny faces at someone to amuse or distract someone. Why they did that is because the song before it, Akane did something with her drumstick and made a face that made Saiki, their lead singer, laugh and miss a line. So the other Maids decided to get even and did the hengao thing. It didn't work (never does). Akane just kept up the beat and made kissy faces at them. Those kinds of stage antics make us Maidaic love them so much. Yes, they love playing with each other, and to their audience. They have so much energy and joy in their live performances, I would tell anyone go to at elast one of their concerts (I have been to two), and get to share that joy with the rest of us.
The notes ringing out at the beginning, were the final notes of their song "Play", which is also available on their YT Channel, and also a very good song you should also watch. Also, this was the 22nd song in a 23 song 2+ hour long performance. And the Ladies maintained this same energy level throughout their entire concert. And Saiki the primary lead singer has a very good lung capacity. With the way, Kanami writes melodies and Miku writes lyrics, she has had to work to obtain that. When they surround the drummer, they are playing a game called "Hengao" or "Funny Faces", they are trying to make Akane, the drummer to make a mistake by goofing at her. They haven't yet, but Akane has made Saiki giggle a few times. I'd suggest Play, as I wrote above, and really ANY song by the Ladies. Their lives for the most part are the best, with a few small exceptions, but even when they aren't the "BEST", they are still very good.
I think Akane has proven she won't mess up even while bawling her eyes out from being overwhelmed with happy emotions. So good luck with the face stuff. LOL
Just wait till you hear Warning or Shambles or Dice or Daydreaming or Blooming or anything off of the Unseen World album. Or pretty much anything else they play. Especially if it's live
DOMINATION live was the 22nd song of their 23 song set and begins with a segue that is the dying away of the last note of the previous song PLAY. At 4:25 - MISA, the bassist, Kanami the lead guitarist and composer, and Miku the rhythm guitarist and founder of the band, are playing Hengao - "strange faces" - with Akane the drummer, which is making funny faces to try and put someone off. Akane, of course, laughs along while not missing a beat. It shows the ladies' confidence in each others' abilities that they can fool around like this while all of them slam out note-perfect Rock at full tilt. At 5:40 - MISA the bassist is holding her plectrum in her curled finger so she can produce it and switch from slapping to picking in half a nanosecond! At 6:45 - Akane the drummer hitting two separate beats on her double kick pedals while simultaneously continuing the song melody on her snare, toms and cymbal. At 8:18 - a brief glimpse of Kanami laying down one sweet rolling chord pattern - pure class. THE best live Hard Rock band on Earth.
cloud...Crowd .."I've been in Japan too long" .....LOL!!! That little Pow-Wow was actually them then trying to make Akane laugh or mess up, and Akane gives it right back, it's a game they play all the time on stage called Hengao, the art of making faces. I think you'll enjoy "Freedom" Official LIVE from the same show...much brighter and is a real fun video.
Thanks for the reaction and comments. These ladies know how to have fun. They're clearly enjoying themselves on stage and love performing for their adoring fans. Their positive energy and joy are infectious. IMHO, they are the best live rock band on the planet. Play, Moratorium, Puzzle, No God, Real Existence (all official live videos)...take your pick. They're all fantastic. Cheers!
You picked the right band if you like bass solos. Misa (Barefoot Assassin) has bass solos and guitar vs bass duels in a lot of their songs. Check out the duels on the Official Live versions of Don't You Tell ME and Hate from their Yokohama Arena concert. Some song suggestions for you are Moratorium, No God, Rinne, Onset, From Now On, Without Holding Back, About Us, Play, Why Why Why, Endless Story, and both versions (live and video) of Don't You Tell Me. They have a catalog of over one hundred great songs. If you are not fond of one then choose another because it will be much different than the one before it and the next one to follow. Have fun with it!

Many songs are in English and Japanese. Most songs are full of joy as well. 🥳 They enjoy performing. They enjoy the fans. They enjoy each other. I don't know of any other band where the fans' playlists differ so much. So, this is just a quite random selection of songs: For some very special live videos try Freedom, Play, Real existence and Endless Story. With Moratorium (Live at Zepp), Rinne (MV) and Dice you can hear more hard rock while more catchy songs are Choose me (MV) and Alone (MV). And if you want to hear some ballads then maybe About Us (MV) and Daydreaming (MV) are good picks. But don't miss some of their instrumentals like From now on (MV) and Onset (Live). And finally a very special live performance is Manners/Blackhole (Official Online Live)🍌 And there is more: For example the songs with Miku in lead, their christmas acoustic concert and the 'cover band' Band-Maiko ;-) But if you want to start at the beginning of their career (2013-2017) then go with Thrill (MV, their first video), Real Existence (second video), Alone (MV, first own composition), Freedom(best LIVE performance), Choose Me, Play (LIVE!), ... Have fun, po 🕊️
I yhink your summary is sctually better than the original so please continue to use it. I kind of get a Thrill out of being quoted or paraphrased! So Dont you tell me you won't use your summary! From Now On you should use it when you like! Don't let me Down!Just mind your Manners!
Oh no, they didn’t accentuate the crowd. If anything, they muffled them. Band Maid fans are part of the show and have our roles in the music. Like here. You better say! “Hello hello hello!” 😂 Nearly every live song begins with fist pumps and “Hey hey hey!” The Maids give their all in every song, we feel obliged to return the love ❤️
Oh that wasn't a Drum Powwow. They were making funny faces at her so she will laugh and f*ck up during the hard part. Not a chance! Akane is The Beast! Part Gorilla & Part Drum Machine. Although she did mess up once. She was playing so hard she had unplugged her In-Ear Monitors and couldn't hear the backing tracks and missed the cue to start the next song. Very funny! If you like Bass Solos you should do 'Hate?' next. Kanami and MISA have a Call & Response "Battle" that is Epic! But the reason the Second Guitarist didn't get much in the way of a "solo" is she's not a guitarist. She's a Singer. When Miku started the band she couldn't play. But they needed a second guitarist. So, rather than hire a sixth member she had Kanami teach her guitar. So she owes most everything she knows to Kanami. But, no, Miku and Kanami's outfits are a little different, though similar.
After Mincho's guitar solo, Miku (rhythm guitarist) hits the volume pedal. She plays the same thing as before, but it's louder. It's not a proper solo, but more like a presentation of her and her guitar.
4:40 - It's not a pow-wow. It's called "Hengao" ("funny face" in Japanese). They're huddled around the drummer (Akane - "Ah-Kah-Nay") trying to get her to mess up but she's just too good. 9:35 - Oh here you go - Hate? (Official live), Freedom (2020 live), Warning! (MV), Rinne (Official live), and From Now On (MV).
Bestie, while a lot of people love it, is definitely not representative of typical Band Maid since it was primarily written by that guy from Incubus, whose name escapes me at the moment. Nothing the Maids do is bad, or even average IMO, but I do like many of their songs more than Bestie.
Hey Easy there's nothing wrong with your eye-liner game but if you check out the MV for "YOLO" then Saiki's eye-liner was never better. No need to thank me for the tip, it was my pleasure.🙂
Ah, I see that you started with Bestie. IMHO that is the least interesting song they have ever made. If you want bass there are two spot on suggestions: Live version of "Hate?" and Live version of two songs "Manners" and "Black Hole". If you want some solo for the second guitarist, then "Play" is a suggestion. I know that there are more, but I do not remember which songs. If you want a drum solo, then why not "the live version of "Freedom".
If you watch some fancams you'll come to the conclusion that if they are amping up the crowd sound it really isn't much. Watch HATE? live from Yokohama Arena 2023 to really hear some bass or NO GOD live. Have fun.😊

Talking about Saiki running out of air, I am always thinking Saiki BREATH when she is singing their song Puzzle. So many words.
You'll see many, many bass solos if you keep reacting to Band-Maid. Some songs also have rhythm guitar solo.
