Many of the calibers being offered will not live up to advertised velocities unless you offer 22”, 24” or even 26” barrels. A 20” barrel is a velocity killer in several cartridges

You’re looking at up to 40fps loss per inch of barrel. Not really a huge deal. The shorter 20” barrels are an option MOSTLY because of those who want to install a suppressor. Others want less weight.
Interestingly enough, everyone told me I was crazy cutting a 22” 308 barrel down to 18”…that I’d lose 200 fps or more I was willing to gamble and cutting 4” off, my chronograph results consistently showed that I lost on average 18 fps per inch, call it 20 fps for easy math…I lost a whopping 80 fps but also lost 4” of barrel. With something like the Banish Backcountry that’s 5” long I’m effectively the same length as stock and the animals I hunt will never know the difference. At least Savages custom shop allows you to custom order any Savage they make in left hand in the calibers we actually want. They just made a custom Savage 110 in 257 Roberts for my dad two years ago and a lefty 6mm ARC with a 24” barrel for me. Both Rifles shoots very well. You won’t get that at Ruger.
Dislike the spiral fluting. Give me a gen 2 with a 22” plain barrel and I would get one
