Retorque all screws on stock and scope
I’ll add a few hundo and get myself a tikka superlite. Shoots well without a muzzle brake. Action is flawless and lots of aftermarket options for it
Love my Tikka! Worth the extra money for sure!
Tikka will be my next rifle 😊
Tikka is mid
Yep tikka👍
@@SamongOutdoors Tikka should have been your first choice. Why waste your money on anything else? Your money though..
Mountain Rifles really show who or who isn't a good shooter or doesn't use consistent good shooting techniques. They can be very unforgiving. OTOH, if you match up a load that the rifle loves, you can possibly end up with a nail driver of a mountain rifle. I shoot an off the shelf (not modified) Kimber Mountain Ascent in .300 Win Short Mag and a Q suppressor using a home load of an 180GR Nosler Accubond. It shoots a .221 group at 100 on a sled. I 100% know that if I miss, it's me and not the rifle, the scope, or the ammo. If you end up liking the rifle, get in to reloading. Factory ammo is flakey and not very consistent.
You are absolutely correct. I only have hunting rifles, and factory ammo is pretty finicky. I have handloaded for some rifles, and they shoot awesome. I just wish I had more time to do it to all my rifles 😅
I'm not the most accurate shooter, but I can usually hold my own. I'll have a follow up video with this rifle once I have time to get to it.
Exactly!!! Its not the plane, it's the pilot maverick!!!
In some cases, yes. In other cases, no. It really just depends. This is my 7th personal big game rifle and this is the first one to shoot like this. I'm not done yet, I want this Ruger to shoot well. I don't want my money that I spent on this rifle going to 'waste' at all.
@@SamongOutdoors 7? I inherited my grandpa's Rem 700 in 7mmMag, stupidly picked up another Rem 700 in .270 and now primarily only use the .300 WinMag. Think I got just about thing covered with those 3 rifles/calibers.
Now, having at least 7 (teen) fishing rods is a different story! :)
@Elparquito yup, this is my 7th big game bolt action rifle.
1. Browning X-Bolt in 30-06
2. Browning X-Bolt in 6.5 Creedmoor
3. Savage 110 Ultralite in 6.5 PRC
4. Oregon Mountain Rifle 7 PRC
5. CVA Cascade in .308win
6. Weatherby Mark V in 300 Win Mag
7. Ruger American Gen II in 7mm-08
I don't plan on stopping there, haha. I just enjoy new guns, which is why this Ruger has got me scratching my head. It's the first to give me a "hard" time 😉
Excellent critique Samong, keep it real and on point. Thanks brother.
Nice job! I agree cerakote or stainless makes a huge difference, especially when you're out and about. And I agree, the advantages of the CVA make it well worth an extra 100! After so many years of synthetic stocks, hard to believe Ruger is still going with the flimsy!
I got a ruger gen 2 predator 6mm ARC and its shooting about 1/2 MOA and single hole at 50 yards !! Be sure to really clean the barrel before you shoot it !! mine was extremely dirty ! Not from cutting the lans etc, its from cutting the hole for the bullet !! I suapect you didn’t clean before you shot it cause the crap in the barrel makes it not load the bullet easily ! I cleaned mine with MAP cleaner !!
I have a Ruger American in 243 and it likes the SST 95 grains. I have had it for a few months and I’ve already laid out 3 coyotes with it… it works
When I buy a brand new gun I make sure you can slip a dollar bill between the barrel and the stock and I put at least 60 rounds through it before I reload for my guns. A simple stock change can make all the difference too.
Great video!! Definitely need to double check the rifle & Re-torque all screws.
This is the most thorough ammo testing to get 'real' results! WELL DONE SIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
For $600, I’d spend a little extra and get a Tikka T3x. I own three and they all shoot 1 moa or better. My 300 win mag shot a .25 after sighting it in.
💯 there ain't a better rifle.
Second this, my T3x is a tack driver too
Second this
Love my tikka T3x 300 win mag, picked it up with hard case, luepold scope, two boxes of ammo for 450$, feel I did well
@@jessejames1395 nice, I got the Roughtech. I used Barnes Vor-tx 180 grain ttsx and the results were jaw dropping. Vortex HS with Talley direct mount rings. Perfect setup for me.
I have an American ruger! Love it
Nice video. I picked up a couple of Ruger American Gen II rifles a few weeks back, and the bolt isn't the smoothest out of the box, but lubricate it and cycle it a bunch and the action will become smooth. I noticed how smooth the floor models were in the store, no doubt from the the bolt being manipulated hundreds of times previously.
For those looking for utmost accuracy, I do believe the Ruger American needs a couple of mods: 1) an aftermarket trigger (I went with Timney at 2.5 lbs), and 2) a better stock or chassis. It's not so much that the factory stock is super flimsy, but the barrel channel is not quite wide enough in my opinion. It really could have used an extra millimeter or two on each side and the bottom of the channel to account for the slight flex when under load on a bipod, rest, or barricade. The good news is there are a bunch of aftermarket stock options.
All in all, it's a good entry level rifle. It's light weight, easy to handle, good for quick off-hand shots, and shoots well enough for what it is.
Excellent review even for beginners. 👏
I like how you list whatever you are using even when you're actively in the field. 👍
Briefly, a review video can only capture so much, and it usually covers pre-thought features.
However, whenever you list your gear, viewers can actually see it in action, and some folks will tune in to certain features while others will zoom in on other features.
It's a sort of "dynamic" way of doing reviews that is effortless, and requires no extra work on your part.
Anyway, spectacularly done and honest as usual. 🙌
Thank you! I am no expert, but I just try to make it make sense haha.
Sweet! Thanks for the review! Just got myself a Tikka T3x CTR with a stainless barrel chambered in .308. The 20” barrel limits my range for hunting but encourages better stalking practices but makes it more practical for other aspects of rifle ownership. Respect! 🤙🏽
My old version Ruger American .270 shot 1 inch group every time. I agree with you with the blued barrel being rusted more easily. I have to clean and lube after every hunt.
A friend has the ruger american in 300 blackout. He polished up the bolt and it was very smooth. Ruger americans can be a little rough but are excellent rifles for the money
I have a 2014 made American .308 Sporter I bought new in 2016. The action was a bit rough but it fed smoothly. I lubed the bolt and just USED IT. After a few hundred cycles it is butter snooth .It shoots consistent MOA with Federal blue box 150g loads.
@@JamesClark-lw6sw…and THAT is how it’s done!
This is absolutely the very best ammo testing format I've seen. Keep this format sir!
I have the Ruger American Gen 2 in a 300 Blackout. I’m shooting sig 125g FMJ and can shoot 0.5 MOA at 100 yards, but agree on the bad feeding and flimsy stock.
I also have CVA Cascade which I like much better!
The savage axis I bought this can average 1 moa with 2 differnt factory ammo but I also changed it to a solid 1 piece rail, adjusted trigger, took stock out and sanded it so barrel isn’t touching and I expoxy front end to stiffen it and added weight in the butt and expoxy it as well
Pull bullets and measure powder. It will explain your accuracy. We have measured 2 grains deviation in some of the amo you tested. Similar crappy groups outa a custom gun with match barrel
You’re right on when you say you’re only reviewing your copy of the rifle. Good review. I’m going to be doing a RUclips about what you’re talking about. I’ll hit up when it lands. Nice job.
Good to see you back on my feed buddy, good luck this season looking forward to the new content brother stay safe young man
I'm pretty skeptical of 7mm-08 factory loads; based on COAL and seat depths measurements that are kinda all over the board. I haven't put my hands on the Nosler ABs, but the Nosler 140 e-tips are the glaring exception to what I just said - those things are TIGHT and my rifle (Savage 16 LWH) loves them.
All that to say; I bet that rifle will shoot lights out with a decent handload, and I don't immediately blame the rifle for the factory ammo ~1-1.5 MOA.
That may be a very point
I do have to chuckle when people say they dont like blued guns because they dont hold up in the weather. People hunted with blued guns in harsh weather for decades. To each their own of course 💪
Absolutely! My dad's first rifle is a Howa 1500 and it's holding up still. However, it's definitely taken a lot more tedious care than my stainless and cerkoated rifles!
True. But I’ve been told bluing has changed over the years. I prefer cerakote or similar
@@mr.mr.3301 You're probably right. I'm sure the quality isn't the same anymore. Everyone is cutting corners these days. I've had cerakote on one rifle. I found it chipped pretty easily. But that could have been due to poor application.. hard to say.
Great review. I have a Ruger American Preditor 6.5CM, Stainless barrel. I love the rifle. Agree with your list of "Must Haves" for any rifle. I have one more on my list and that is the magazines. I do not like hunting rifles with the mags protruding from the forearm. I like a flush magazine. Makes it way more easy to carry with mag flush as the that is where its most comfortable for to place my hand for carrying and as it is a hunting rifle, it will get carried a lot. Just my 2 cents.
Thank you! I am with you. I do prefer flush magazines too, but it's not necessarily a deal breaker for me. Oh how lucky we are to have options like this 😂
A few additional thoughts. The Ruger American seems to lack accuracy in 7mm08 per some on the Facebook group. I suspect it is because they use a 1/8.5 twist over a more traditional 1/9.5 which most others use. I also would give the American a good cleaning and try it with no muzzle break as they can help or hurt and the concussion is annoying and not needed in smaller calibers. Also all gen ii Americans are cerakoted.
I get around .5 inch groups with my ruger gen 2 7mm08, I do hand load for it though
Would be great to see a follow up vid. So many possible factors for these deviations on this particular day. Good luck!
I have one, but in 6.5 Grendel. Almost every thing is 1moa or less, almost all of the time. The 6.5 Grendel is known as a super accurate round anyway. Personally I am more than satisfied. Agreed the stock is not the best, but the trigger is very good, especially for hunting. To get better you will spend $900.00 or more. I bought ammo with my $300.00 . Also retorque like mentioned earlier.
I had fliers on my 1st gen American, had to sand and cut some of the plastic stock away from the barrel. known issue.
I have the exact rifle and caliber. I had a hard time finding a good ammo as well but ended up with the Winchester Deer Season XP 140 grain and shot sub MOA at 100 yards.
Make sure the magazine well is not binding between the stock and action.
Good video. I have the same gun. The trigger pull was about 5 pounds so I got it down to 2 pounds and it shoots real good. That's something you might want to try. I took mine to the range the other day with Remington corlocks. It got a. 63 inch group and with my reloads it got better than that.
The accubonds have always been our go to bullet
Wow, great review! Thanks
I love what you're doing with averaging 5 different 3 round groups! I think you would get a little more valid results if you shot all 15 rounds at the same target though.
If the first 1.5" group shot to the right and the second 1.5" group shot to the left then the overall group would be greater than 1.5". By taking the average of many small groups you will have quite a bit of error as opposed to shooting one large group (with breaks for cooling of course).
If you have time you should listen to Hornady's podcast episode 50. It goes into a lot of detail on statistically significant group sizes. I love your channel and thanks for filming this review!
This one scared me for a sec! I was considering the CVA Cascade before watching your CVA video. After watching it, I was convinced. So I went out and bought one. When I saw this video pop up, I was devastated that you’d already replaced your CVA. Very happy to be mistaken! Maybe someday I’ll be able to justify a custom rifle also.
I know it might make you happy but 0.8-0.9 MOA rifle while shooting off of gravel is more than adequate for any ethical hunting scenario lol. It’s a good value rifle :)
The 8.5 twist needs rounds that like 8.5 twist. Do a bit of research. Plus a very light cleaning in-between the sets will make a difference. 7mm08 likes what 7mm08 likes and with 8.5.....it's picky until you finds it's love.
👍
I got into hunting without buying many boxes of different ammo brands, in 1989, I can't believe what I am seeing today all the different types of ammunition guys are buying these days. Federal Fusion 30-60, a one-inch group or less. Out-of-state hunt to Missouri Whitetail deer/Elk cow hunt. I was lucky, I guess. Always factory ammo for an out-of-state hunt.
Bench shooting is never going to be like field shooting accuracy, never. Take your time in shooting. I’m after in sight in my rifle for a hunt; the first shot is maybe all that I will get- field shooting. You guys are just rich!
My wifes 6.5cm gen 2 with the 143grain eldx we have shot consitantly half inch groups
I've researched around and it seems like the 7mm-08 rifles are having accuracy issues in the new Gen II's. I'm glad yours are shooting straight!
@@SamongOutdoors handload some 162 gr eld x or m bullets over Reloder 17 for the 7mm-08. They will be a bit slow (2650-2700 fps), but the bc advantage more than will make up for the velocity difference.
Same here! Hornady Precision Hunter 143 ELDX 6.5CM group good cold barrel but open up after the barrel heats up
I have a gen 1 and the bolt not locking when the safety was on was sooo frustrating. Magazine comes out to easy and rusts like crazy. Consistent and accurate though.
me personally i love the eldx for me it shoots great and 100-500 all under 8 moa
What caliber
Consider testing ammo in the round robin method. Eg., fire a round of type A, a round of type B, a round of type C. Then fire the next round in the same manner, etc. That’ll give you more confidence that you minimized the effect of conditions on your testing. Don’t give up on the gun, my Gen2 in 7-08 likes the Winchester 140 grain Deer Season XP rounds (.75 moa @ 200 meters). It also shot worse than yours with the Hornady SST rounds.
I have CZ, Tikka, Bergara, Christensen, Anschutz and Ruger. The only ones that shoot 1 inch or better at 100 yards are the CZ, Anschutz and the Bergara. The three of them do it consistently also! The CZ and Bergara at 1/2 inch and the Anschutz at 1/4 inch. The others are at 1 and 1/2 to 2 and 1/4 inches.
What size groups?
Even the tikka? What caliber is it in?
@@mr.mr.3301 22-250, yes I was disappointed because of all the stuff I read about tikka. I tried upgrading some parts with the mountain tactical parts and sanding the barrel channel also. I tried 8 or 9 different types of ammo and nothing got under an inch at 100 yards. They were 3 shot groups with barrel cooling between groups. It’s too bad because I like the rifle, but for coyotes I only use 1” or better at 100 yards.
@@RayRay-zc2ed I would have sent it back. They have a guarantee and will pay shipping both ways. But I think you only have a 2 year or so warranty for that.
Shoot from a bench rest and take "you" out of the equation. On the flexibility of the stock, you did not compare both rifles the same way. I would also recommend you shoot some Remington Core-Lock ammo. What is the caliber of the RAR?
Good video 🤜🏻 I think Weatherby Vanguards will outshoot everything in that price range! Also, you’re confusing accuracy with precision I believe.
Nosler AB for the win!
Way better bullet construction!
Great review!
curious as to how often you cleaned the barrel during this testing. nice vid
It shoots Minute of Deer.
It'll put deer down for sure. We're just being extra nit-picky here.
Before starting did you make sure barrel was free floated and action screws were torqued propperly
I had similar inconsistency with a HOWA 1500 .243. Issue was scope…
Thanks for sharing. Good to know 👍
Save your money and buy a tikka....tikka...tikka....TIKKA
@@tolt1776 second this
That's my next one 😊
@SamongOutdoors ya but which one? Also you spelt "only one" wrong! 🤣😂 the t3x stainless in 300wsm should be called the "pnw rifle"
@@tolt1776 you tikka fanboys are insufferable.
You’re not going to get the best accuracy jumping to different ammo types every 3 rounds. It’s best to test one ammo type at a time and do a light cleaning between ammo types. Also that barrel is not SS, it’s carbon steel and even though it’s cerakoted on the outside the bore and chamber can still rust in wet or humid environments without care.
Makes sense.. I need to redo my set up now.
You are right. I misspoke when claiming the barrel was stainless. For some reason, I just resort to "stainless" when the bolt itself is stainless.
I usually try to hold a control when buying a new rifle. This Ruger was essentially set up and followed the same procedure as my CVA Cascade. Same process, but different results. I'm not done with this Ruger. I want to figure it out.
@@SamongOutdoors maybe try to find some Federal Premium ammo loaded with the 140 gr Accubonds. Federal premium seems to be the most consistent factory ammo on the market right now.
I have the Ruger American gen 2 in 6.5 creedmoor, and it took about 200 rounds through the barrel until my groups started shooting half MOA with hornady black HPBT.
With the money you spent on that cheap ruger plus all the ammo you could have just bought a browning and been done.
@codytaylor2194 with a browning, I'd likely have done the same thing. I love going to the range. I have the Ruger precision rifle coming in this week in 6.5 creed anyways. Now I'll have the American for hunting & the precision for target & competition. Plus I knew the ruger american would be accurate after it calmed down because what it was doing was throwing one shot and then stacking the other two on top of each other oftentimes in the same hole, so I knew after the barrel broke in I'd have great groups, and just like I thought, it's now consistent with factory ammo to .5 to .6 MOA.
@@michaelmaris7 my browning was .5 out the box 🤣😎
@@michaelmaris7 also its not so much about grouping as it is with the over all build quality...I hunt more than most and hunt some of the hardest country in usa..idaho..colorado..and alaska...I'll be damned if I EVER trust a budget gun of any kind when I'm 10 miles back in snow ice etc not to mention being in bear country...cheap guns don't hold up to extremes ...there built with cheap parts ...sure there fine if you just hunt paper or are in normal hunting conditions...but not for big hunts in rough conditions..sorry don't mean to hurt your feelings but it's the truth..but then again I hunt harder than most and hunt alot more than most ...I expect my rifles to hold up to anything I get into ..and I damn sure ain't gonna put my faith in a budget gun.
@codytaylor2194 the only Browning I've ever seen shoot .5 was shooting 1 shot groups.😂 I will never by one of the pencil barrel guns again.
You have incredible patients time and a little bit of money for him. I’m curious if the Hannity ammo and the same lot number on the ammo box. It does sound like the Ruger likes premium ammo, also I wonder if the barrel is not getting fled. I’m curious to hear the results.
My GoWild trigger would only adjust down to 4 lbs. Too heavy. I ordered the Mcarbo trigger spring for $12 & was able to adjust it down to 2.75. Much better. Also after about 50rds the trigger felt a good bit smoother.
Curious to try a different muzzle, and a good load work up just might dial it in lil tighter ....still keeping it within "budget build" money
Honest review, I agree with you!
could be that barrel might require a break in process because you have a good scope unless your screws are loose
Awesome video mate, can I please ask a quick question, I have just bought this rifle, I'm wondering what hight rings you run on this rifle
If I had to guess it’s the stock touching the barrel. Does that gun have bottom metal, or bottom plastic?
A lot of rifle for the money!
It really is a solid rifle for the money!
Not that vortex is bad. I’d consider getting something better. I really like Meopta for the money.
Great review and comparison
You should try Federal and Norma ammunition
The Ruger American Gen II do not have a Stainless Steel Barrel. They are just Gun Metal Gray Cerakoted.
I watched another review of this rifle, and it shot 33 MOA in a 223 caliber. I haven't watched a video all the way through to know what caliber this is, but it makes me wonder why the variableness here?
Cut your losses, return it for another.
I did the same for my Savage Lightweight Hunter, and it didn’t shoot. Got it exchanged and the new one shoots within spec.
.338 Win Mag - Grandpa's edition >
nice review Samong.
Crazy… I’ve been looking into this or the american predator
. I just came across PNWilds channel last night and watched the black bear thunderstorm video and you were in it. Now I come across your channel and the rifle I’m looking into! Great video! Thank you! Also, what size barrel did you get?
Was actually looking into selling my rifles and getting myself the ruger American gen 2 but the predator version. It has a slightly longer barrel than the normal version and looks a little cooler in my opinion.
Buy a tikka and it will blow your mind.
The Gen 2's are decent rifles. I just wish my copy shot better!
@@SamongOutdoors shoot a 10 shot group with all of your rifles and all of their best loads. Whether it’s 2 5-shot groups or 5 2-shot groups. You’ll begin to see the true come of dispersion from your rifles. I’d be highly surprised if all of them shot sub MOA. More likely, they will land in the 1.5 MOA area.
I'm sure you're a good marksman, since I've been watching your videos for a hot minute, but the best you can do is take out all variables that you can. Maybe shooting from a gun rest? Informative video, on this rifle, for sure.
I've always done my shooting on bipods and a sandbag rear rest. This is the first rifle that I have had not average under 1 MOA. I'll be following up with this rifle. I really want this rifle to shoot well!
savage 110 trail hunter affordable and accurate
The trail hunter lite just came out and seems like a good value. $50 rebate ends this month on the 110s.
good vid! KInda a shame, the gen 2 is a sexy looking rifle. I'd pay a bit more for a stiffer stock and a bit tighter groups (although, you'll easily kill a deer with a 2 moa rifle)... Performance is most important, but let's admit it, we're humans and a sexy presentation tickles us, and that spiral fluted barrel is a looker.
Hey Samong, did you take into consideration the Ruger American Standard is a 20” barrel and the CVA Cascade is 22”? That could be the difference in your grouping variations between the two rifles. Other than that, very good video.
Hey Kendell, thanks for the comment! Yes, but the thing is, the barrel length should not affect accuracy. It can, but it shouldn't. There are many 18" barrel rifles that are very accurate. It may very well be the case here, but I don't think it is the primary suspect.
My next gun in same caliber
Hahaha wish you would of made this video 6months ago. Bought my first bolt gun and went with the Gen 2.
My ruger go wild 7mm-08 doesn't like hornady at all. Actually it has the same locking issues you were having with them. It shoots sub MOA with Norma and Federal. I'm not sure why hornady head spacing doesn't fit these guns in 7mm-08. But it feels almost like you are shooting the wrong bullet in the gun. I am switching to federal 120 grain bullets this year. And they are holding an even tighter group.
God gave us the best Mauser clone ever made (The M77) and people keep buying these plastic push feed rifles with cheap detachable box magazines.
Blued rifles don’t rust the minute you get them wet either. Whelen, O’Connor, Warren Page, Elmer Keith all did fine with wood stock blued rifles. Townsend Whelen did hunting expeditions with a blued 1903 Springfield that would make a 7 day back country hunt look like a Boy Scout trip.
Grew up shooting an M77! Those were the rifles everyone I knew were carrying back then.
As someone with an m77 mkII that is more accurate than it has any right to be, it’s a heavy pig of a rifle.
@@SammyMoore-tg5gs that’s the added bonus of running the legendary M77, it not only put meat in the freezer but on your arms as well.
@@Westerner_ yeah, I’m good. When I’m doing 2500 ft of elevation change per hunt day, the extra unsprung weight is not what I’m looking for. I’ll stick with my R700 custom for that.
That being said, my m77 might still be my favorite rifle, especially since I put it in an MDT LSS chassis.
@@SammyMoore-tg5gs I hear ya, it would be my first choice for a mountain hunt but I still lug mine around on more hunts than is probably necessary.
I have one chambered in .35 Whelen you won’t catch me dead in Alaska without. The durability and reliability of those rifles is second to none.
Part of the issue here is that the groups are too small. I’d be interested to see all of the shots from the five 3-shot groups overlayed on each other. At that point, you’d have a 15 shot group that would approach giving you a statistically accurate cone of fire. Hornady did a few podcasts on this topic, and, while it’s statistics heavy, it’s very informative, same with Shoot2Hunt. Form goes over the topic in a number of Form Fridays, along with explaining how having a poor zero and wind deflection are much more influential on why we miss than the MOA precision of our rifles.
I’d say Gen II performed as one would expect from a Ruger American with the Nosler ammo, hovering right around 1 MOA for 15 shots. That’s pretty incredible. The feeding issue sucks, but I’d look to see if a bit of sanding on the feed ramps or the lips of the magazine can clean that up.
The Ruger has a 20 inch barrel. What is the CVA barrel length.
Great review true and honest. I do have two Ruger American gen 1 and both have been great shooters 6.5 creed and a 308. I didn’t catch what caliber you were testing?
He didn’t say, but it’s a 7mm-08
I dislike the twisted barrel
Try the Ruger Go-Wild version 👍
Dang. Maybe you got a bad one. I got the predator model and getting .5 to .75 moa at 100 with the whitetail. Confidence is key though and I know your not a bad shooter. Maybe send it in and have it looked at. I did notice some feeding issues though with mine
What happened to that badass 7prc from Oregon mountain. That dude makes great rifles.
Love my OMR! Nothing has happened to it. It's got a few hunts that it will be going on this season.
Can you do a review on the Sig cross?
Is the rifle a 7mm 08? I would check to make sure barrel is free floated. Reload for it. I bet u will get better groups. I was looking at the same rifle in 450 bushmaster. Arkansas is allowing Straight Wall Cartridge in ML season now. Are u fixing to start bear hunting?
Yes, this is a 7mm-08. I need to look at this rifle again. And yes, I've started my fall season and was successful on the opener. Video to come 😉
Or get a tikka. They have a $75 rebate through November.
Thank you for your review, and I love your hunting videos. What do you feel is the best rifle/scope combo under $1000?
@@MikeCrawford-d3n tikka t3x in your prefer caliber and vortex diamondback will put you right at 1000 if you can get them when on sale
You can get a good rifle for $6-700, but you can’t get a good scope for less than $500.
@SamongOutdoors Thoughts on using a Bergara rifle? One of their lighter rifles like the new Sierra? Just bought one myself in .300 win mag yesterday.
@SamongOutdoors how often do you clean your rifle barrels? Do you hunt on a fouled barrel?
Check action screws may be loose
I'm not hearing you say you're cleaning your rifle ????
