Sam, I always enjoy watching your videos. Having NO background music like other people's videos is good - the sound of wind is best. Keep up the good work during your next sailing passages.
I agree....UNLESS it's Sam improvising a backing track on his tiny Sax or keyboard :D
Same here👍⛵️
Agreed. Sometimes he adds some tracks that are improvised - which are GREAT, but it's great to be able to put on my cans and feel like i'm on the open seas.
I freakin love couch sailing with Sam!
Me too :)
Me freakin too!
Man I just enjoy the way you jump right into your videos. All those others have “fillers”. They spend minutes with canned music and drone footage. But you just get right to it.
Before the pandemic I had the pleasure to have a couple of beers at the waterfront guesthouse at *Verftet i Ny-Hellesund* (@ 6:26). The establishment got its license to serve all the sailors and fishermen back in 1690. Unfortunately, I had no time to have a sleep-over in the converted but much more modern oil tank (the white round thing to the right), but I heard it's spectacular. Just around the corner to the right you also find Olavsundet, an extremely narrow cut/passage through the cliffs and famous already from the viking sagas plus in recent years as a symbol for various royals, many with their monogram carved into the rocks. Also, in the distant island @6:45 you can see Havbugta, the house owned by the famous author Vilhelm Krag and who started the Symbolism (new romantism) school of poetry in Norway with his Fandango poem in 1890.
I really enjoy how your videos are sailing and exploring, no nonsense music or any distractions from the beauty
It's getting more and more pretty after Kristiansand, and towards Oslo. And of course in the summertime when it's hot, outside, even the water temperature gets often more than 20-22 degrees celsius, at least in July. Often warmer the closer you get to Oslo. Lot's of boats on the water, and on the islands... When it's maybe 30 humid degrees celsius, no wind, you just wanna swim all day long. But, you do get some summers when every month is just so bad... Too many sail to Norway's southern tip area, and don't get to see the real gem up to Oslo on Norway's east coast... Love from a boating family in Telemark, coastal area
I wouldn't go to that restaurant if they comp'd my check after they wouldn't even let you show it to, I don't know, 150k people.....nope, never!
Thanks Sam ! Always looking forward to your next episode .
Always a pleasure watching your epic adventures. I hope you keep 'em coming for many years to come!
I got hooked on your video style from your initial sail to Hawaii, then watched your trip across the Atlantic. It truly makes me want to do what you do, but as I have no experience I'm hesitant to just jump in head first. I'm an introvert who doesn't really have great social skills so the typical advice of going to a marina and jumping in with somebody for races wouldn't work well. I also work all the time.
My dream is to take a few months off work in the spring/summer and go for a long trip. At the very least I can sail along with you watching your videos.
For the seal on your dodger, an idea would be to screw a thin (1/4"?) piece of rubber to your dodger, the length of the gap. Then it will act as a wiper, allowing things to open and close easily while keeping the water out. I recently discovered your channel, and so jealous of your adventures.
Love your vids. No mind numbing continuous drone footage, no mind numbing underwater go pro footage and no background music. I've got spotify.
Could you show and talk about how you store, plumb up and use propane or cooking gas. Other than your single burner camp stove.
Nice down wind rip through the middle of town, just loved it.
Am glad to see the storm cover over the cabin you made has been working out well.
Forget the underwater restaurant. I doubt anyone in there has crossed an ocean single handed. You win.
Cool - been following your channel for a year and longer. Good to see. When you get to Southern Africa side give me a shout. I am Durban side.
Good stuff Sam, another successful adventure- thanks for bringing us along with you.
The dodger has held up well- considering what it has been through.
The pool noodle fix or pipe insulation might solve that gap problem on the cheap.
Water on the inside of the boat -not so good when you're sleeping and get it by a wave.
I... particularly liked it when you were sailing along with your whisky glass in one hand-
steering with the other one - "oh and there are rocks over here too." Priceless.
Stay safe & warm in your future travels to Sweden.
Great sailing, simplicity of your videos is great for myself. Great fair winds& health to you in 2022.
2:32 apparent wind indicator 4:20 I bet there'd be a big market for quiet autopilots besides windvanes.
Thanks for keeping it real and thanks for all your hard wark
You are up there with some of the best video's
I live vicariously through you
Love watching your channel Sam you’ve got us thinking of trading our speed boat for a sailing boat now 😂💯😎👌. Enjoy mate stay safe 💯🤜🏻🤛🏻
I really enjoy your videos. Just one man enjoying life on the oceans. Safe travels.
The best and most popular sailing RUclips channel guy in the world shows up at a restaurant with a video camera to highlight it on one of his episodes and they turn him away. Seems like a massive marketing failure on their part...like the record producer guy who turned away the Beatles and said that they would never sell records!
Safe travels Sam! Great video.
Hi Sam , Im a new subscriber and just came across your videos. They are very interesting, was wondering if you could give us more sunset views as you come across them?
And night sky views ?
Always nice to watch your videos sam, good luck on the next leg!
I love watching your adventures Sam, it makes me miss my Jaguar 22 :(
That's it.
The underwater restaurant is most definitely off of my next grand tour scheduled stops!
How rude.
Another great video, Sam! I always appreciate the sense of your honesty, in how you show the lows and highs, including unvarnished aspects of what you've done and what you'd do differently.
One trick for getting fiberglass to shape around a tight corner is to cut pieces on the bias - 45 deg angle, which means the fibers have a much more gradual turn to make.
Also, I think it'd be a relatively quick project to make a fiberglass piece to cover the gap between the hard dodger and the hatch cover. Make a quick form out of foam to bridge the gap, and then coat everything in pieces of duct or packing tape. Then a few layers of glass. Pop it off after cured, a bit of sanding. I'd use the existing screw holes in the hatch cover to attached the front of the cover, and maybe some vhb tape on the front of the dodger. You have the skills... :)
Thanks. All ways great to see your videos.
I love these videos finally a real sailing video
Good video, cheers Sam!
this was a very special Sam audio episode, wind and inaudible (unless you crank the volume) things galore haha, you could tell he needed a break at this point maybe, love the vids as always
Sailor Sam, 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 as always, you never fail your fans!
Not sure of Sam's travel plans but if back in NC in January, maybe hook up with Sailing Project Atticus? They are on the hard in Washington, NC. Would be a great event?
Thanks for these videos. New to your channel.
You have probably explained in previous videos yet if your solo sailing again would be great to explain in simple terms how Auto pilot works, how you navigate and know how to manually steer and get to where your going, how long and how you sleep and the boat sails itself avoiding being side swiped from waves or in general you can leave the boat for hours to steer itself with shifting winds and waves as thought always have to steer now a certain way so as not to capsize in rough water and can let the boat steer itself in really rough weather or you must hand steer?
Great work on the dodger it did hold up across the pond.. Carry-on
Ciao Sam non parlo inglese ma sappi che ti seguo sempre. Un abbraccio dall'Italia.
Thanks Sam
Thanks for another vid, dude. :-)
A cheap fix for the water problem might just be a modified door sweep. Take tin snips cut to fit.
Really cool, didn't know you were in town. Although I'm not very up to date on social media :) Definitely a looooot of sneaky rocks in the archipelago around here
Sam! At the end of your video, you had gotten most of the salt cleaned off! Almost didn't recognize you so 'unkrusticized' - arrrgh, matey! ;)
Awesome Sam!🤙🏼
I think they call those narrow passages "tickles" in Newfoundland
Finally, Kristiansand. I've been there quite often. You could explore Odderøya, there are some nice places.
I have some questions about your prop. I've noticed on your refit it is two blade and appears so small. Its my understanding, three blade props create less cavitatiin and more power. There is a slight loss in speed but seems like it would cut down on vibration thus extending seal life and wear on the engine. Interested in your thought. TIA.
I can't buy my trailer sailor yet cause' I don't have a truck to tow it, so I bought a new guitar instead, lol. Until then I'll keep watching you Sam.
You’re a LEGEND!
Great Vid Sam

Cool vlog buddy, good luck always!
Sam, what is the weirdest, strangest and or scariest thing you saw out in the open ocean?
Norway :D
I just watched all of your videos in two days lol
Looks gorgeous
You are a Millionaire cause what you are doing is priceless
My home town, should have called me up. Id hive you a Tour :)
Awesome Sam
The mini2 is much better in wind. A huge improvement in features and it can use mini batteries.
You’d probably need a DJI Phantom to handle that wind, but even then allot of wind just ain’t good for drone flying. Plus the Phantoms are big and bulky
Sam, any feedback on that front portlight you installed on the CD? Any cons to this that you've seen?
Looks cold Sam
Next time just show the restaurant your RUclips channel, they’d be glad to show you around. It would be good advertising for them.
Keep on sailing sam
Heading back to N.C. for winter?
Hey Sam, looks like time for a haircut. LOL. 😀
Do you have adjustable jib cars? Looks like it would help to move the jib lead forward when you partially furl the jib. Leach too floppy
You could use an old inner tube to seal the dodger
When are you going to take a trip down to Fiji?
How is your new autohelm working?
new video wooohoooo!
Ugggh! I'd need a Seakeeper!
Are you traveling with someone? You say our and we a lot so just wondering. Love the videos.
I wouldn't pay a grand for a meal to eat underwater if I were a billionaire.
Love your sailing vids Sam. Are you going to haul out pickeld herring in the UK?
He hauled it out in Sweden. Follow him on Facebook for up to date info^^
Hope you visit Turkey when you go down to the Mediterranean
Sam could you show us by google earth your way across europe would be fantastic,i really enjoy your videos.
Are you coming to copenhagen? Thats my home town I can show you the cool places.
Beauty eh? God Bless.
Hey Sam, great channel been watching a long time. What about EU boat insurance? What kind how much where to buy? Thanks dan
Don't get the DJI mini... i have one and its not good with a bit of wind ...
Every time i sail even with gentle winds i can not get the drone out because its already to rough for it.
Get the mavic pro/zoom instead ....
What size is sam's boat? Anyone know?
do sail boats still heel a lot if the sails are tied up?
I’ll never eat at that restaurant now. It’s a big deal to let someone take a peek that came all the way from America?
Denmark or Sweden and then again further south, East or West via Denmark either the Kiel Canal or exposed to the North Sea??
Very good video!
The real NBJS channel. 😂
It looks like down-east Maine.
I was having a dram with you! Love that!
sam, how much you reckon you have in your boat setup?
It’s 80 degrees in the Virgin Islands…
Why are you so far North?
Why not date stamp the vids?
Hi Sam!
go sam go...just a commet for the algo
Hmm . . . Sweden or Denmark . . . decisions decisions . . . Cheers !
Pool noodle will do the trick lol
I have the solution to your sealing issue on the spray hood.......
Love you videos. Keep it up. Let me know if you stop by in Ebeltoft Denmark where I live. Then I give a local tour :-)
What kinda boat is this
