Woo Hoo another video. You make us ALL want to Re-Paint, Re-Stain, and Re-Style our entire Lives. I love this. Great job and thank you for all of the wonderful ideas
Bless her heart. She was so happy and excited and rightfully so. You’re such an amazing friend and I love how you never forget how people have helped you and now you’re giving back and we’re learning stuff in the process. It’s a stunning look and that dark green is so stylish and classy. I Love it!xxx
Something I learned from what seems like decades of watching HGTV and the DIY chanel and youtube is that sometimes doing what feels wrong is sometimes the right thing to do to a space. Sometimes you need to put more furniture into a small space to make it feel bigger and sometimes you need to paint a dark room a darker color to make everything else pop. I think this room came out amazing. Her landlord is so cool to let you ladies paint and just be creative.
I love the dark you added! It brought depth and that also creates a feeling of space. People always think that you have to go lighter, but creating depth (kinda like we contour our nose or face with makeup) or using mirrors in the right places (feng shui) most often opens up a room far more than just slapping on some lighter paint. Think how people paint illusion art on streets that make you feel like you're going off a cliff.
I love that you updated a small bathroom full of quirks, because parts of my house are wonky too and it’s nice to see that it can still be styled well!
Personally i hate dark green bathrooms since mine was the same color for years and it made my bathroom look so small. I painted it grey with a pastel pink, purple, and blue accent wall and it looks WAY bigger. I also ripped up the popping tiles and sealed and painted the subfloors and it even smells better( the tile was damaged in a hurricane then the dirty flood water got under the tile). You rarely have to spend more than a few hundred to completely redo a room.
Living to DIY with Rachel Metz This video has given me some great ideas for my tiny bathroom. I especially like how you played with dark colours and light colours. I prefer dark colours (I would love to paint my bedroom black) but I’m terrified of everything looking too dark and closed in. Your videos give me hope that I could do it right and find balance!
I wasn’t sure about the dark green, but after you showed the finished bathroom I loved how it came out! I think the lighting made it brighter also! Great job!
Thanks for showing us the things that don't work and your frustration. It's comforting to know that things don't always work (even for someone as experienced as you) and when mine fail I'm not alone. :)
I agree that is the most hideous color green. With the black and dark green together, I feel Like the space looks so much smaller and darker but maybe that's the look she was going for. Either way I got some great tips from the video.
I think the dark green really works because the bottom half of the bathroom is white-they balance each other out! Plus, that green is my favorite color 😝 Super cute, great job!
im in love with that black faucet. totally understand all the problems with odd walls & angles...happens all the time esp in older apts/homes. kudos to you for not giving up. the green is a bit too dark for my taste esp with no natural light, & dark tends to make a room look smaller. but the bathroom really looks so much better.
Silicone sealant around the edge of the sink. Wall filler where the wall crumbled. Maybe reverse the door so it opens outwards from the bathroom, or sliding door? = more bathroom space. A Matt paint would of been better to soften the look of the blemishes and bumps on the wall. A clear shower screen to give the room a less enclosed/busy look. Love the wall panelling you did, really effective. The room has a coco chanel look to it. Really nice palette
My Dad and me sat and watched this (and a couple of your older videos) and he was constantly praising you..saying this is no mean feat...he's great with this sort of work, so he was extra impressed with your work. I think you just made a new fan :D
Gorgeous! I love the colors and the baskets, and the way you made the process accessible to anyone... I think we could all try to do this makeover. And I really appreciate seeing exactly how you use the tools because that’s something I’ve not had a lot of practice with. I say keep the mirror; if I don’t see Something, it’s like I don’t own it so I think having a shelf there when she can see the products that she needs to use most often, is perfect!
this is so beautiful! personally i wasn't a fan of the green walls, an ivory or cream would've suited better or maybe even a light grey. you are so talented at interior design, i love this so much!!

I literally just finished posting one of my first videos, and it was making over the main bath in our new home. I love watching all the inspiration from other diy artist and decorators. Thanks for the video!
I love it, even the green. The bright bulbs make the ship lap pop, and loving the black fixtures. Not sure what’s on the wall between the shower and door, but if she wants storage for towels, could do a metal wine bottle rack and have them rolled up. And if she needs more storage for products, hang a shoe holder on the back of the door that has the individual pockets, and they also make shower liners with pockets as well. But you did awesome 🥰

Too dark of paint for that small bathroom. The wood will swell up from the hot showers. The quarter round was cut a hair long, and have a gap next to the switch.
Nice but the stuff around the mirror In my opinion I would leave clear for a more cleaner look and less open exposed products. Like I would be being super noisy as a guest looking at the creams etc because it’s right in my face 🤣😂

Living to DIY with Rachel Metz I’m for sure not perfect but in my career field taking feedback is something we must do and with graciousness as we receive a lot of it. My only advice would be to place your plates over your wood next time and to take your half wall above the plates so it’s a smooth look when you place the plates over the wood or stop the half wall just below it. Much cleaner and professional look. You are amazing at the work you do and your videos are wonderful and so informative. Just friendly feedback and advice. And dark color on a small space is just not a preference I like when there is no natural light on the space but others will disagree and love it. Also just advice and not at all an end all be all rule of thumb.
Looks great. I definitely would of went with a light color from first hand experience with a bathroom without natural lightning. Dark paint compared to light paint can make a world of difference honestly
Yes! I definitely am aware of that but it's what Alie who is the one who lives there full time wanted so want to make her happy. I have a small bathroom makeover I think a lot people will be pleased with my color choices.
I love this. I do want to throw something out there that I learned while redoing my kitchen myself. They have these spacers for your outlets and switches so it brings the plates flush with the bead board or tile or whatever you put next to it. Makes it look so finished.
Bathroom turned nice, I would has preferred a crisp white bc it's such a small room, with dark colors makes the bathroom smaller and so dark. Loved the mirror.
Very good job.Stylish, affordable, elegant & simple. The shabing mirtor is cute! Baskets are cozy.Impressive.Thanks for sharing.I may try the natural deodorant.
A definite improvement, but actually I’ve come to just know everything you do looks so much better than before. I’ll say it again, awesome job! And thx for the inspiration. Happy 4th
That mirror needs to stay it’s SO cute for the space it adds a whole new vibe to it and if you paint a design on the tile do it in white, if you paint the shower and the sink just don’t go overboard bc it already looks GREAT and you don’t wanna over do it! Also quick tip, take the door off and just cut an inch or half an inch off the bottom and sand it and reinstall so you can switch to one bigger rug bc it’s just gonna be worth it for the overall look, I promise.
I like that she shows you what didn't work and what she screwed up on. She keeps it real.

I’ve been binge watching your channel and I’m in love.
That makes me so happy!
I seriously need a friendship like this
❤️🔥
I love the mirror over the sink!!!
Ok yay!
Keep the mirror, it works!!! loveee the flip of ugly to beautiful and functional!! Great job as always
Ah thanks girl xx.
I love the industrial feel of the space.
Oh yay!
It still looks great nonetheless! Everyone has their preferences of course!
I’m loving this! You are such a good person to expand your creativity to help others. 😍
Thank you!
I love this. I do want to throw something out there that I learned while redoing my kitchen myself. They have these spacers for your outlets and switches so it brings the plates flush with the bead board or tile or whatever you put next to it. Makes it look so finished.
Hell yeah! Thank you for that feedback!
Bathroom turned nice, I would has preferred a crisp white bc it's such a small room, with dark colors makes the bathroom smaller and so dark. Loved the mirror.
Yes! But that's why I let Alie decide since it's her space. Thanks for the feedback!
Your before looks exactly like my bathroom now! Definitely need to change it up! Thank you for this!
Thank you for watching xx.
Omg! this is a typical bathroom in a rental or old home so I am happy to see what you will do
Thank you!
I'm obsessed with this.
Thank you so much Chrissy!
I loved everything except the paint color and the shelves. Other than that PERFECTION😍!
Make sure to tailor your design to that then! Thank you!

Yay! Thank you!
I absolutely love the dark green. Thank you for the color inspo.
Thank you for the love!
I loved the shiplap! Thanks for showing us how to do that and make it seem so much more do able than I used to think it was haha
Thank you! It may not be the prettiest the first time around but practice makes perfect.
A definite improvement, but actually I’ve come to just know everything you do looks so much better than before.
I’ll say it again, awesome job! And thx for the inspiration. Happy 4th
Thank you so much! Happy 4th Joan!
Taking the door of the hinges and using a planer would help do the trick for the floor space /bath mat. Fairly easy to do.
Yes for sure! Didn't have all my tools going back and forth between three locations 🤦🏻♀️.
Otherwise nice makeover BTW. I got interrupted and forgot to say that!😊🙏
Well thank you!
Ah thank you! The door tip is such a great tip and I will definitely do it when I have more time.
Looks a whole lot better, good job!
Thank you!
