Its a good looking truck. Im not gonna knock someone elses taste in mods. I love the fact he chose a "FLUSH" looking wheel tire combo. So many people offset theirs wheels too far out and it looks horrible. This is what i call a classy mod.👍
I agree... tires/wheels sticking out from the sides (especially if they don't add flares) looks really dumb, as does a front end that sits higher than the back. This is a really clean looking truck. I'm not a fan of the blacked out look, but this came out nicely.

It never occurred to me running a downpipe and dressing up the stock muffler tip for a more polished presentation. Lots of really tasteful modifications done by the owner, cheers to him
I absolutely love these clean, classy builds! So many guys just go crazy with the lift & offset. This is just a simple, clean, practical, badass truck-the kind I always dreamt of as a kid.
Looks great. I’m laid up right now working through a kidney transplant and with each video I watch all I can think of is getting back to work so I can do these mods to my f150. Thank you!
That Backflip MX4 doesn't need the tailgate to close first. You can close the cover first then the tailgate over it. It's the MX4, one of those things that make it special.
If you are wanting to "level" your pickup save your money for a coilover set up like this. I purchased the pucks at first and never put them on. I ended up getting some 2.0s. Your money is much better spent on the whole package than the silly pucks that keep the stock shocks. My UCAs are stock still. Putting on the Delta Joint UCAs when the stock ones get sloppy.
There's literally no issue with using the what you call "puck style" spacer kits for a 2-2.5" lift, that use the factory setup. Spending 2.5k on a coil-over leveling kit is just pure stupidity. You can spend about 1.7k on a better brand full 4 or 6" complete lift kit and have it installed for less than that.
@@chrishaugh1655 I thought the same thing until I rode in a truck with an aftermarket coil over set up. FYI they are not as expensive as you say. The 2.5 might be 2500. If you shop around there are 2.0s right at $1000. Putting pucks in your vehicle just levels it and keeps the soggy sloppy OEM shocks. If you are going to be in there you may as well put some fresh shocks on it. Bilstein offers some 5100's that level plus get you a better shock. BTW you are getting crappy OEM type shocks with your frame altering 4-6" lift kit.
I had the Bilstein adjustable set to 1.75” with bilstein shocks in the rear and I thought it rose significantly better than stock. Fit a 285/70R18 ridge grappler perfectly. tire choice has a ton to do with ride characteristics
An aftermarket catted down pipe and stock catback is pure genius. I drive a 2018 STX 4x4. Mine has the 2.7L ecoboost. Untill this video, I swore off modding the exhaust. You may have sold another catted down pipe.
Perfect, tasteful mods. I'd forgo the hood only because I dont like hood scoops. I'd add the hood if it were available with just the heat extractors. I'd also replace the antenna with a shorty, and instal the decked system in the bed. Everything else makes for a very clean, subtle improvements, and masculine look which is how I plan on building my 2020 F150 very soon.
That's what they did tho. Tires slightly bigger than 33s actually and he got a 2inch lift without just wedging a hunk of metal inbtween frame and strut.
Those were some nice subtle touches, I know the suspension may have been a little bit, but it does not make this over-the-top super expensive build. I like the height of the truck as well. Looks mean
Just stumbled on this channel because I'm doing research on which truck I should get the 3.5eco or 5L. great video and I appreciate the links for the products.
Nice truck, nice build ideas. Not my choice of color either but i wouldve bought a black f150 fx4 if I didn't buy my white fx4 eco. That hood is exactly what I'm looking for to put on mine.
Looks clean and has an awesome stance. I currently run a 6 inch lift on my 13 f150 and you have me second guessing what i will do with my 17 when i finally buy it.
AmericanTrucks Ford >>> An excellent video, as we have grown accustomed to watching from you ;-) I love all of the modifications done to the truck, minus the overly off-roady tires; these are not only going to be noisy on the road, but they will not give you{r friend} the safety and braking traction that you need. That is my one and only gripe regarding the build: if I were to use this as a daily driver {mainly on-road} I would go with better on-road tires. Once again many thanks for the beautifully prepared and presented video!
Looks great! I know everyone has their own taste and that's Ok! If it were me just a little bit of an offset like maybe have the tires poke out about an inch would have been a mean look! But it looks sweet!
I have this exact truck but 2015, and not a crew cab. Other than the A/C expansion valve going at around 100k, this truck has been an oak. I've put 70k miles on it travelling all around the west. I did the big duel Outlaw exhaust and the massive cold air from aFe and it sounds possessed or totally calm, depended on how heavy your foot is. 379hp to the wheels in a truck that's around 4500lbs is pretty good. Next step for me is the turbo upgrade. Turn off traction control and put it in S mode and hold on!
I bought a shadow black 2016 3.5 XLT 4WD 126000 miles on it2 monthes ago 1st ford I’ve ever owned and love it! Got plans for this black beauty so hopefully get started this year or next year
Impressive change in the torque curve. I got a few questions: 1- does this tune have safety measure regaeding 87 fuel? If someone filled it with regular will it pull timing and protect itself or is it gonna give you a "knock knock?" 2- the front axleshafts, are they gonna handle this increase in angle for a long time of mixed on-off road driving with this much lift? Great video. It speaks to the reasonable side of every one..keep it up.
I have sold lifts , No this is a minor lift . Any lift will add more wear then stock , but something small like this is no worrys. Second I don't know what you mean by nock nock any mild economy tune us completely fine. In fact the truck will run more efficiently, and can get better mileage if of course you limit the right foot lol. No all these mods are not aggressive, and safe.
As a family man with two kids etc.. these are nice, reasonable upgrades. Can still run/do errands and take the wife to a fancy dinner in the same vehicle.
Awesome build. I would probably went with different wheels but over all I like it. Would be awesome to see a video showing different wheel off sets on these trucks.
This truck looks so mean. I’m a 5.0 guy, but I have owned a 2.7 and I have a lot of respect for the ecoboost engines, but I don’t haul a lot and I prefer the sound of the V8. And I love the look of the 2” lift with the flush 33’s.
Nice build And yes black trucks are super dirty I’ll say they get dirty even while trying to clean em up. But try a black F-150 with forged wheels that’s even harder to maintain clean. 😁
I have a blacked out ford edge in and out and its horrible to keep clean. Ill be buying a white vehicle next go around lol. Did i mention its impossible to have a clean car in construction?
Love that hood!!! Not a fan of the Bakflip. I had one on my 2010 Lariat SCrew. It only took a few years before it de laminated from itself and faded out. Then again I live in Florida. Nonetheless, keep a coat of wax on it and don’t let sap or bird poo rest on it. Also, I might note, even after all of the damage, it was still waterproof when I sold the truck last month.
Justin, i love your vids with American Trucks. i’m a canadian who just picked up a 2017 F150 XLT FX4 and your guys video is what i’ve been watching for MONTHS for ideas and to convince on a newer trucks. great videos, justin and thanks!! also, what kind of liner does he have in the bed of his F150?
Hey thanks Nick! What part of Canada are you from? I have family in London, Ontario and make it up there and to Grand Bend once in a while. Thanks so much for the kind words and I'm gald to hear you are enjoying what we do here on the video side. Any plans for the new rig? And Dave's Ecoboost had a factory spray in liner if I'm not mistaken? Thanks again! -Justin
AmericanTrucks Ford i’m a very small town called Tottenham, however i also got family up around where your family is! an hour or two out from london, closer to windsor in another small town called Chatham! as for plans for the rig, definitely a leveling kit and new rims and tires for sure with a new suspension. thinking about a new front and rear bumper as well. thought about maybe a light bar on the top and maybe in the future, one of those baja styled roll cages in the bed.
I want that RK Sport hood so bad. The reviews on many sites are so hit or miss that it's been hard to pull the trigger on something that may need to be reworked before even going to paint. Plus I have to save up some money after grabbing a set of the new Morimotos on Black Friday. =)
Bigger tires will kill gas mileage, regardless of motor. Bigger tires mean more mass, more rolling resistance and more surface contact so it takes more effort to move them at same speed
blakliffy I lost about 3-4 mpg. I’ll try to keep this short. I went to a 275/70 r18 and those are an LT tire (what comes on F250s and up) instead of a P rated tire that comes stock on F150s. They were about 20 lbs heavier per tire and on stock rim.
@@jonasbennett9237 - Yep - I am seriously considering NOT going bigger on my 18' 2.7 Ecoboost given the mpg I am seeing stock. I have 3.73 gearing which makes it a blast at the red light but doesn't help the around town mpg. Highway is ok at 19'ish but around town is like 14-16. In theory your tire size only went up 4.1% but you lost 15% in mpg due to other factors? weight, aerodynamics, rolling resistance --- damn...
All it would take to wake up that 2.7L Eco would be an intake, a high flowing down-pipe and a tune! Pair that up with a little leveling kit and some more aggressive tires down the line and you're about halfway there. 😉 -Zach
I am curious to know how much power loss was noticed with the rim and tire set up compared to the OEM set up. Over all I love this kind of build. The truck is still 100% functional for everyday use ! Would love to see an LED bar added to this truck.
@@Papi-mg5ck actually you would its alot of extra rotational mass. I kept factory rims on my 04 suburban and added some 33" Falken at4's compared to street tires it's like trying to run with two kids hanging on your legs. But it definitely feels more confidence inspiring in the always soggy Louisiana weather.
@@GhostlyGhille yep this is right on it doesn’t seem like a big difference but you can really tell the weight difference right away as soon as you drive it
I just completed my mode just like this one almost. Added a 3" leveling kit Rough Country with 295 60 R20 Nitto Trail Grabber, cold air intake, bed cover, weather Tech front air shield. Looks great and rides like a real overlander... Give me your thoughts....
Not a fan of the murdered out look or the black wheels. Black wheels just blend in with the black tires making the design features not stand out at all. I really like the hood and may look into getting on for my 2018. Ecoboost is a great powerplant that will never sound good through the exhaust, no matter what you do. You guys DO make very good videos!
I think it depends on what you're looking for out of the exhaust, personally! If you like turbo noises, some higher flowing downpipes, intake, and a bigger exhaust can help a ton with sound and power. It won't sound like a V8 of course, but EcoBoosts are mean when you do them right. Thanks for watching our videos! -Zach
My truck needs some tlc and I have a smaller list of add ons (unless you want to do it). I have one problem first gear feels like a granny gear now until about 3grand. I want to do a filter and flush but also add a tube full top side. This will be my first truck almost new to pay off (2011 f150 Ecoboost) and apparently I'm second owner, ford won't do any/all of my recalls because it's out of time and date. I got chain rattle on start up but I believe it'll be fine with some lucus oil additive. I need one wheel to be like I got it but I believe the offset is negative and it looks car like in stance.
good luck keeping stuff in the bed dry with that aluminum body. very large gaps between the walls and the deck of the truck bed. Mine fills with sand from the icy roads. No point in adding a cover.
Truck looks great and is kind of where I'd like to go. I was considering Falcon shocks and levelling kit. The wheels are particularly cool, what offset do they have in this application?
That looks awesome! Is there any reason to worry the engine won’t last as long because of the added stress? Or is it built strong enough to just not worry about it?
Love the look of that truck My truck is just power mods making around 700 650 hp give or take around 1300 tq I need some cosmetic stuff now any links for some of this stuff
I just bought a new 2020 F-150 FX4 3.5 eco boost. Definitely interested in the hood/air intake. Does the RK Sports ram air hood create a seal when closed with the rousch air intake so that it only gets outside air and not any from the engine compartment? If so, was the ram air hood scoop engineered to deliver 100% of the engines air needs?
I've got the same truck and icon kit on order now, with 18x9 wheels coming 5" backspacing and 0 offset w/ 35x12.5 BFG KO2's - When the parts arrive what all will I need to trim in order to have no rubbing? Will I need a 1" block in the rear? THank YOUUU!

as for plans for the rig, definitely a leveling kit and new rims and tires for sure with a new suspension. thinking about a new front and rear bumper as well. thought about maybe a light bar on the top and maybe in the future, one of those baja styled roll cages in the bed.
I want that RK Sport hood so bad. The reviews on many sites are so hit or miss that it's been hard to pull the trigger on something that may need to be reworked before even going to paint.
Plus I have to save up some money after grabbing a set of the new Morimotos on Black Friday. =)
Would love to see what a set of better head to turbo pipes might do to one of these trucks.
And I love the "look" of this package.
dream truck nice and simple.
awesome jobs guys…I would love to do the same mods to my ‘17 F150- ecoboost
Thanks for watching! -Zach
I drive a 2015 ford lariat black ops edition and I love it.
Lovin it very simple very clean yet so different from stock
Nice build. Hopefully those tires don’t kill your MPG. I put 33s on my 2.7 EcoBoost and tanked the gas mileage.
Bigger tires will kill gas mileage, regardless of motor. Bigger tires mean more mass, more rolling resistance and more surface contact so it takes more effort to move them at same speed
how bad we talking here? 1-2mpg or like 8mpg?
Depends on size of tire, type of tire, how aggressive the tread is, if it has softer or harder rubber...
blakliffy I lost about 3-4 mpg.
Nice build. I have a 2023 f150 and hoping to similar buildout for my truck.
We will be here when you do! Thanks for watching!
I wish they would have kept that front end. I love my 2019 but I’m not as big of a fan of the 2018-2020 front end look.
This is a sick build. Would love to do something like this on my magma red 2019 2.7 STX. Probably costs entirely too much money though!
All it would take to wake up that 2.7L Eco would be an intake, a high flowing down-pipe and a tune! Pair that up with a little leveling kit and some more aggressive tires down the line and you're about halfway there. 😉 -Zach
Those wheels were made by Ugh Lee...other than that the truck looks great!
keep up the good work AT!
I love the hood great job guys
I am curious to know how much power loss was noticed with the rim and tire set up compared to the OEM set up. Over all I love this kind of build. The truck is still 100% functional for everyday use ! Would love to see an LED bar added to this truck.
You not gonna notice shit like that, barely made a difference
@@Papi-mg5ck actually you would its alot of extra rotational mass. I kept factory rims on my 04 suburban and added some 33" Falken at4's compared to street tires it's like trying to run with two kids hanging on your legs. But it definitely feels more confidence inspiring in the always soggy Louisiana weather.
@@GhostlyGhille yep this is right on it doesn’t seem like a big difference but you can really tell the weight difference right away as soon as you drive it
Great video. Took a lot of notes.
Throwback to this ICONIC Kelly Clarkson costume 😍 #HappyHalloween!!
Nice job, looks great
Looks awesome!!
That's exactly what I want to do to my 2.7 2016 black lariat.
-Zach
AWESOME BUILD!
Nice clean build..
That was the plan! Thanks for watching, Mike!
Bad ass set up!
We think so to! Thanks for watching, Ricky! -Zach
What about rain with that hood scoop? Water going right onto the air filter.
They have filtration systems built in just like the Chevy Duramaxes with the hood scoop, filters out the water. Only air goes to the engine
One thing I would have done differently - done it to my truck instead of Dave's. Jajaja
Fair point! Haha thanks for watching! -Zach
Looks killer
Not winning any roll races?? Maybe if you’re going 60 to start. From a 30 roll the EcoBoost still rips and won’t lose many races
Kingy B no shit dude that’s a supercharged drag vehicle essentially. This is a stock pickup truck lol. Not even remotely comparable
good luck keeping stuff in the bed dry with that aluminum body. very large gaps between the walls and the deck of the truck bed. Mine fills with sand from the icy roads. No point in adding a cover.
Looks great
Awesome awesome, this is exactly what I have in mind to do once I get my f150 👍🏽👍🏽
Those mudflaps added 30hp
Love the hood
Looks great!
i have the exact same truck crazy
I have a 17 king ranch. 3.5. I was going to get rid of it, but maybe I should just get some upgrades?
just bought one!
Congrats, Alek! I hope you love it! -Zach
Nice build!
Depends how much you rag on it for sure.
Have you dynoed back to back stock tires vs 35 12.5 20s. I want to see the loss in tq/hp measured after install of 35s.
That would be a great vid
The 305/55R20 's are roughly a 33" tire not a 35"
Love the look of that truck
My truck is just power mods making around 700 650 hp give or take around 1300 tq I need some cosmetic stuff now any links for some of this stuff
I can't tell if this is sarcasm or not...
THank YOUUU!
looks good.
That is perfect truck
Very cool!
