    A Couple Notes:
    - HEADPHONE WARNING - On the first track, the audio starts out very loud since the Soundcloud audio is way out of whack compared to Spotify settings.
    - The Soundcloud version of the original mixtape did NOT have vocals for 'Houston Old Head' or 'Roll One Up.' I do those reactions later via the streaming version.
    - RUclips made me gut "Get Lit" due to copyright reasons (no idea why)

    In my opinion, you can’t really separate A$AP Rocky’s early work from Clams Casino. I think his unique sound comes partly from the production Clams Casino did, which was (and still is) so unlike everything else. It’s very textured and ambient and spacey, but it allows Rocky to flourish.

      At the same time though, no other rapper can rap well on Clams beats either. When Peep, X, Lone, Mac Miller or others tried, it just didn't sound good at all. Rocky and Clams were a perfect combination. It was a mutual relationship. That relationship died after Rocky and the Mob got the $3 million dollar record deal.

    • @AsapCodeine
      @AsapCodeine Год назад +1

      @@user-np3tq4nf1t X tried on a clams beat? It must be one of his early 2015 soundcloud singles he would put out because the track doesn't come to mind. Is it off the Icy Hotel or The Fall EP's? X did vocals on a Diplo beat, Lookin for a Star, so I'm surprised with all his variety. It does make sesne tho since SGP is from broward same as X. I wanna hear Denzel over a Clams beat now.
      Wait I just listened to it, Jah really dissed everyone and released his inner secrets over the I'm God track. It was released in 2014 so it has to be in the first 10 songs he ever made at 16yo. That is hip-hop history. You can even hear him apologize to Ski in the end.

      The other members don't have hits because they didn't get signed on a major label. Ferg was mostly a singles artist outside of Trap Lord. ASAP Yams was supposed to get the other group members to blow up and it didn't work because he died in 2015. Either way, it was taking him too long to help the other ASAP members take off. Twelvyy and Nast should have had mixtapes in 2012 or 2013 if they wanted their shine. Clearly Rocky was the only real star of the group.

    Bob, please please you need to react to Paid In Full by Eric B and Rakim. You don't understand how blasphemous it is that you've never heard Rakim's voice. He's literally nicknamed the God MC. One of the most influential rappers ever, if not the most. And that album is probably like a top 3 most essential albums from the 80s. Please Bob, trust me on this one 🙏

    honestly i was never as big of a fan of this project as i am of AT.LONG.LAST.A$AP. that (imo) is his best project to date. so many different sounds and each track so unique and made with so much love and attention to detail. the quality of ALLA is on another level, especially with tracks like jukebox joints, fine whine, everyday, and L$D

    'Style wild like common after Erykah' - Her partners went on to get a lot weirder after being with her 😂 In how they dressed / acted / the music etc. Andre 3000 being the biggest example. Surprised you skipped out Rocky's verse on Trilla it's soooo good, it used to completely go over my head before.

    Trust when i say in 2011 when this dropped (as a stoner in high school at the time) this was the best album i ever heard in my life and every song was way ahead of its time. Listening now its hard to deny the production doesnt hit as much as it did back then, but maybe its just because nowadays every song has massive banging 808's and Sub basses mixed beautifully. Most of these songs dont even sound like they have bass at all lol but besides that the production is amazing

    This mixtape was the soundtrack to mine and my friends lives. We would throw down on the weekends to buy an ounce of some fire and play Live.Love.A$AP till we hot boxed the whole apartment. The memories this mixtape made are top 3 in all memories of my entire life.
    Also you gotta get high to listen to a clams casino beat, it makes you feel like like you're floatin on a cloudy beat. This mixtape was not made to be sober.

    Clams Casino is one of the best producers in the industry, I feel like he hasn't produced that much compared to other producers apart from his own projects, but everything he's made is a classic, you may have heard his songs "I'm God" "All I need" or "Illest Alive" before.
    When you said you disliked the alternated deep vocals that's exactly what the southern inspiration is, it's called "chopped and screwed" and was created by DJ Screw in the early 1990s Houston, then it went on being popular in Memphis mainly thanks to Three 6 Mafia who were inspiration to a lot of rappers, rap groups and producers like A$AP Mob, Metro Boomin, $uicideboy$, Freddie Dredd, Raider Klan which included Denzel Curry, SpaceGhostPurpp, Xavier Wulf, Chris Travis, Yung Simmie, Eddy Baker and many others even Bones, most of these artists have collaborated between each other or were affiliated in a way at some point in the past.
