It's cool how it's almost the exact same size as the C24. Just a little bit bigger in the cab and hood. Got different wheels and tires coming for it soon. Hope you get yours soon!
Thanks! You will like yours a lot. Right now it seems like axles are about the only big mechanical upgrade you can do. I'd like to get the silver one when it comes out. Oil shocks?
@@VermontScaleCustoms after you mentioned it come with windshield wipers I just noticed it didn't :( but the rest of the truck should make up for it, we're did you get the windshield wipers from? I hope to see you make a mudding video with this truck
Great review. Very nice footage. Wheels look very good. I've got one on the way & I have the parts to do a very similar upgrade. It seems to be based on the MN78 which didn't have very good electronics. But some people seemed to have success by upgrading the 260 motor to a basic 370 motor (no reduction gearbox). So I might try that. Looking forward to what else you do with this Toyota.
What irks me is the size difference for the output shaft coming off the gearbox. I had to modify old driver shaft ends and use those to get axles on or else it's a no-go. I do so wish these guys would have standardized this model by using more industry-spec'd parts instead of making everything proprietary. Unless someone comes out with an exact chassis in metal, this truck doesn't need much else for modifications because it won't handle it! The underside of this thing is terribly weak/soft. It will be interesting to see what ends up happening for mods and upgrade parts. I'm sure they're working on a whole slew of stuff for it. I've always wanted to go brushless with these rigs. I have a few other brushless crawlers and they're amazing. So it would be cool to see if someone finds out what works for motors in this thing. I think it has the same size as a cheap GoolRC setup. It was cheap too at $39 for motor and ESC.
@@VermontScaleCustoms I agree that changing small details on these trucks for what seems no gain is frustrating. I have ordered some MN78 driveshafts from Amazon that have adaptor bushes. So I'm hoping they will fit. Also some metal suspension links for the MN78. I can only presume they have used a plastic chassis to reduce cost. Which to be fair has kept the retail cost down. I'm looking forward to getting stuck into modifying mine. 👍
I still run my MN99s and MN90 occasionally. All my MN and WPL stuff is well modified to the point it can't really go much further. Like the D12, that had a whole chassis that popped up not long after it came out. I hope that people are embracing this as much as they did the drift trucks for upgrades but I highly doubt it. We'll see some stuff I bet but who knows how long.
Thank you! They're WPL V3 - Be sure to get the soft ones. The wheels came from AliExpress I think. They're old so they might not even be available anymore. www.wpl-rc.com/products/tires-v3
Just the MN axles so far and WPL driveshafts. I modified the ends of the shafts to fir the output of the gearbox because it's a larger size. Other than electronics and a few parts underneath, there's not much you can do to these right now. Give it a month or two and I think we'll start to see some upgrades at Ali and Banggood.
Awesome, this one is up next on my list. I think it will look great along side my MN78s. Do you have links for the axles? I bought a set for my MN99s, and they aren't the greatest. Thanks!
I was actually kind of surprised by the size. It's such a good scale and fit for the rest of the WPL and MN 1:12 stuff. It's a little longer than the C24 but not by much. I'm just waiting for all those fancy upgrades to come out. If not, it's good enough just as it is. Axles are just MN in black. They're not bad. Better than the WPL ones, honestly.
Well, that's good to know. I really have no experience with WPL. I have three MN78s. They have plastic front bushings that wear out in about a year. The new axle all have metal bearings. So should hold up. @@VermontScaleCustoms
You seem like you have a couple of MN cars like myself. So I have a question for you. Is the MN82 the same size as the MN86 or is it closer to the MN99s.
Oh, no way, that's cool they're now adding the holes. I actually did a video on mounting wipers on this thing. Umm, I used some from WPL that had. They always send an extra or two with their build kits. Just had to trim the post down a little.

Dunno, never ran v2 only v1. All things considered, I'm sure it'll be just fine. If it stalls on anything or the ESc feels excessively hot, don't run it for long or something will burn up.

@@VermontScaleCustoms I knew the C24, but I didn't like the battery taking up space in the bed. I also wanted it to be bigger and with a better finish, so the MN82 came along! What is you experience with RC truck brands? What ones are you familiar with? If you haven't heard of MN or WPL, they are global. Both based out of China and have an enormous following around the world. Mainly 1/12 and 1/16 based hardbody replicas and all very well detailed and very cost friendly. The video is my legit, honest opinion. I've run MN trucks since I began this RUclips channel. A person gets into MN and WPL for the hardbodies; knowing that electronics, cheap undercarriages, and drivelines all leave room for upgrades. The cost is really for the hardbody, itself, and a truck that simply runs fresh out of the box. Expectations are best scaled along with cost. What you do with them after that is at your discretion.
