    Thanks for the shoutout Stick- er, Bryan.😁 I would go with the Zpacks Evolve hoodie as it is merino wool and is great in heat and cold. Plus, wool doesn’t smell as bad on trail! The Pinnacle meals are all natural and the best I’ve had on trail. I would love to hear your assessment when you try them. Enjoy camp and I look forward to updates when they come. PS - I agree with others, I’ve followed several thru hikers and none match your quality or content. Happy trails!

      What are your favorite Pinnacle meals? I've been looking for ones that don't use seed oils and these seem to be it.

      I’ve had all the dinners and can say they are all as close homemade as I have found. My favs are Italian sausage pasta, beef Burrito bowl, and sticky teriyaki chicken. Again, imo they are all super good.🙂

    As a mom with two scouts who will be attending scout camp in our area this summer (and also Scout Adventure Camp!) I really appreciate your dedication to your commitment! The scouts will be lucky to have you as their instructor, and you have many amazing tales to tell them around the campfire about your adventures! I look forward to your AT Part 2 when you are done at camp. Happy Trails!! ❤

    I was so excited to get a notification that you posted, yeahhhh. What an amazing box to open, that's lovely to get. Filled with everything. I'd favor te shirt that had a hood, with the bugs and sun and cooler nights, you'll be needing it. Thanks for posting, can't wait until you try out the new tent and let us know your thoughts. Enjoy, be well. 😊

    Congrats on the Zpacks sun hoody. I am not familiar with them in particular, however I have found a good light hoody to be useful and have heard good things about various sun hoodies. Zpacks is usually $$$ and excellent quality, you have some good friends there! I am certain many look forward to watching you back on trail and to assisting you with making that happen.

      You were in the Smokies when someone said, that is not a hiking shirt. You are never going to make it. You had already made 200 miles and the highest point on the trail. Funny how some are that picky about other people's gear

  • @jeffstone28
    @jeffstone28 2 месяца назад +3

    Wow! That box from Randy was full of high value, high quality stuff. Sun hoodies are great and generally you just wear them directly on you. If you need more warmth, you could wear a t-shirt or your eagle shirt beneath and/or a fleece on top of the sun hoodie. That merino wool will keep you cooler when it's hot and warmer when it's cool. And it wicks away sweat. It's a great fabric blend. To repair those holes on the outside of your pack, you could get some clear Tenacious Tape at REI and tape it on both sides. I think that would work well.

    • @sticktheeagle
      @sticktheeagle  Месяц назад +2

    So handsome in the blue sun hoodie but I feel like the red one deserves to finish off the trail with you. What an amazing box of goodies. What a blessing. Awww, Jasper missed you, so sweet❤ Do you stay at camp because Jaspers is probably wondering what the heck you keep leaving for😂 If I was gone 116 days as you were, my dog Cookie and my 22lb grumpy Siberian Forest cat, in other words, big, fluffy angry Russian cat, Kasmir, or Kaz for short, would be very angry and very verbal about it.😂. He gives me the stink eye if Im gone at the store to long. He does love his spa day at the groomer though, who would of thought? Im glad he does like it for the groomers sake. His paws and claws are like bob cats.
    Anyway, I bet your folks were happy to pick you up, your whole family seems very supportive. Does your family like hiking too? How much did your pack weigh? What was your first off trail meal when you got home? Hope everything is great and camp is going well. Thanks for the post trail video. It was great seeing a Stick the Eagle video for sure.
    Remember to embrace the journey and happy trails ❤
    Oh and those were some awesome gifts. Id say it depends on the weather if you wear a shirt under or not. But really nice stuff.
    And your pool looks very refreshing, especially with this hot, humid weather.

    Stick, you're sounding and looking well rested. I have a couple of gear questions. Did you like the sleeping bag liner? Though I like the idea of it helping keep you're sleeping bag clean, it just looks like you'd get tangle up in it. Do you think changing to the large bear canister was overkill? I'm leaning to using the medium one. I agree with cutting your sleeping bag weight. I like both of the new shirts but it seems fitting to finish the AT with the red shirt. Take care, looking forward to future vlogs, and... Happy Trails! 👟🎒🪨🗻🌲⛺️💚🥾

    • @sticktheeagle
      @sticktheeagle  2 месяца назад +1

      I love the liner. If it’s too warm I’ll just use that on top of my sleeping bag.
      I am glad I changed to the bigger size best can. Now I have not had the issue of fitting all my food in it.

    Good to see you're back home safely, and that generous packages awaited you. Pretty funny, that you were shocked to hear your real name again. Parents, they just can't be re-trained! It's funny that when I see my 30something daughter gaming, her gaming screen name shows on the screen, and sometimes I'll make comments using her and her gaming friends' screen names. Some she calls by their screen name, some by their real name, but for each one, she stays consistent.
    There will be people who know you only by Stick, or only by your given name, but it doesn't matter. You are you. I'll answer to any name or description within reason. For two summers, apparently my name was changed to "Caddy". Some would ask and use my name. A small number of those would privately tell me that they thought everyone should do so, to show respect. I thanked them, and reassured them that even if disrespect was intended by others, none was taken. But that I did appreciate that they went out of their way to treat me as a person rather than just a servant, because when I was carrying their golf bags, I was actually both, and was fine with that.
    You know how a parent will use your first, middle, and last names when you're in trouble? When I was married, to really get my attention, my wife would do that half the time, and the other half, because my middle initial is A, she'd substitute another "A word" for it, if annoyed at me. I varied my replies to it, from "Yes, Dear, what's up?" to "What were my parents thinking, naming me that?" to "Present" to "Reporting for duty".

    Maybe, a pouch (or something) to hold and keep your "trowel" from poking and tearing your pack. We hikers are very dependent upon our gear and a pack fail can be major.
