hassan Waleed Eddie would destroy Joe. Rogan's good no doubt about it, but Eddie's been doing it a whole lot longer. Plus he's taught Joe a lot of stuff he uses when he's rolling apparently.
hassan Waleed Oh, fairs then. I getcha. Well, Rogan's going through a bit of shoulder and back issues right now.Probably put his BJJ on hold for the moment.
Mucki Muck No, half guard is an opponents leg trapped between your legs above the knee. (quarter guard the opponents leg trapped below the knee). Lockdown is performed while in half guard where you figure 4 your legs and then tuck the extended leg around the ankle of the opponents trapped leg, which basically locks the whole leg rather than just the thigh between your own thighs. It prevents movement and prevents the opponent from pulling their leg free if you roll while in lockdown.
The timer wasn't set for them. It went off twice with in a minute. They stopped because Manny tapped to the omoplata just before, the bell ringing right after was a coincidence.
He had omoplata many times;Awsome technic.Eddie's High guard is fantastic,Is a good set up for omoplata,triangle,Kimura,......even tough some people with less flexibility can't transition to rubber guard.

Cool roll! Manny is solid, great patience from Eddie on the bottom, goes to show every position can be a war for all 7 mins. Almost got the electric chair but didn't panic and transitioned nicely to through his rubber guard series, I like the foot under the far armpit in Jiu claw, looks like good control. Credit to Manny, both guys were working hard.
@Mic M You can't in no gi jiu jitsu but believe it or not it's legal to defend submission by holding your own shorts in MMA. You can't however grab your opponent's shorts. IMO one of the weirdest rules currently in MMA.
Excellent video, this was actually a very good match to watch. I thought Manny was going to expose Eddie's Rubber Guard and show some of its flaws. Instead I saw a great struggle for power until Bravo gained full-guard, mission control, jiu-claw position and of course the omoplata. Had Eddie been given more time it's very presumable that he could've locked up another submission. Also, I've never seen anyone twist somebodies head with their feet like that. Excellent work Mr. Bravo.
Manny Gamburyan is one hell of a strong guy, and he applies good pressure and has great base . Eddie would have swept or submitted a lesser man with some of those well timed counters. He uses those extremely flexible legs to offset the superior strength of his opponent .... The Chicken wing Oma Plata at the end , may or may not have ended it depending on a few variables but it was good enough to cause Manny to go into survival mode and gave the only clear advantage i saw in the 7 minutes. .... Good match , Advantage Eddie Bravo. Fun to watch ..Thanks for sharing guys!!
notice the intensity of eddie when manny shut down the "lock down", went to his other bread and butter with a bit of "hammy" and gave the Gamburyan a bit of his mustard, spreading him out like pizankcake, manny had no clue how to get out of that crazy high guard stuff, then manny got the look of stung pride on his face, but hey man, can you blame the guy, manny was goin a bit rough, forearm to the throat stuff, eddie was chill most the roll, anyways, props to these two men, great athletes and perpetuators of the art

He has one of the most technical black belts in the world & no one can offer 10th planet no gi or bjj for MMA like eddie bravo can. & he decides to play the young mans game against him. Supprising more than anything, He is just another JudoKa when it comes to the ground game.
+Anyname willdo Typically, in BJJ, using technique over strength is respected. Particularly in a rolling session where you're just playing or some such. For example, if you can use techniques like properly timed hooks and rolls to get out of a submission, as opposed to just muscling your way out, it shows you have the technique to not need your strength. Naturally, its a little different when speaking about competition. Hope that answered your question.
hahaha exactly what i thought. Like he thinks he wins if he isnt as gassed or something !? haha. get real, eddie was about to finish the fuck out of that omoplata !
For real. Eddie was being nice, he could've finished him quick. I think he's was just helping Manny on escaping it. But I don't know how much Manny was doing to escape it anyways.

So messed up cuz I love listening to Eddie on podcasts, but...that ear guard makes him look like Mr peepers from snl.....epic super athlete philosophers
Eddie won though - he had an Omoplata at the end. It's just that his conditioning isn't as good as Manny's. If this was more serious, Eddie would've cranked that shoulder earlier and harder.
@@joansebastian7145 thanks lol. Eddie is creative but limited. He has the kind of game that the 1st time you roll with him he will confuse and tap you.
