Fast method to get Goodie Boxes EARLY in Star Ocean The Second Story R!

- A Goodie Box is a great source of powerful equipment in Star Ocean The Second Story R. Thus, being able to get many of these early on is a sure way of powering up your party quickly. In my previous video, I demonstrated how to get one of these using the Pickpocketing skill. Thanks to those in the comments in that video for sharing a much more efficient way of doing so which allows you to get many more Goodie Boxes too!

Same . This game is awesome
Besides the Sword of Marvels, there are other equipments you can get for your other party members that may be a good idea to make and open more Goodie Boxes
Rena/Bowman: Sorcerer's Knuckles & Knuckles of the Moon - the former is the stronger one, but the latter is needed to for them customize their ultimate customizable weapon
Celine: Silver Rod - It'll be the best weapon upgrade she can get, later she can customize it her arguably best customizable weapon
Ashton: Lotus Eaters & Luminous Slicers - like with Rena and Bowman, the former is the stronger, while the latter is a needed to later customize to his ultimate weapon via Customize
Precis: Atomic Puncher - the best weapon you can get for her in the box, and can later be customize into her 2nd best weapon which in turn, can be customize further into her ultimate weapon once you have the right ore material
Opera: Alpha Clip - it wont have +1000 attack like all the other character weapons on this list, but its still pretty solid, also Opera usually doesnt have a lot of opportunities to upgrade her weapon so this will last you fairly long
Ernest: Spark Whip & Light Whip - Again, the former is stronger, while the former is to be used for customizing to obtain his best customizable weapon
Welch: ??? - I'm pretty sure you can get a weapon for her, but if you could I dont remember the name for it

Thank you for the tips. I got 18 goodie boxes and went for all these items (reloading). Then, after I just moved on with the story. Happy feeling OP early. Lol

coming from the original ps1 version only , this is a godsent game from the future to my childhood self lol
You don't even need to dump SP into Purity for the Fol although it's not like SP is hard to come by unlike the original version of the game. As soon as you unlock IC you can also unlock the Group Appraise Super Specialty and easily get it to level 5 for a 15% reduction in buy costs and increase to sell values. This allows you to offset some of the costs of Magic Clay buying by vendoring all the non-goodie box items you craft (int boost mirrors sell for more than the clay costs and jack in the boxes sell for almost as much as the clay costs) and to offset the rest mass buy eggsa nd dairy and mass craft food to vendor (a full stack of 20 eggs and dairy costs less than 200 Fol with Group Appraisal running and multiple items crafted from it sell for more than 200 each).
The whole crafting system for this game allows you to essentially trivialize it from the moment it unlocks.
I've been doing this method and now I have two sword of marvels for Claude and Dias, sorceror knuckles for Rena, miracle punch for Precis, xclip for Opera and I'm working on getting the best handy stick for Welch....I don't really care for Ernest lol

I have lotsa fol from fishing outside of Arlia in the river streams 10k per big fish
50 perfect dodges also provides your with 100K fol, which is quite easy to acomplish.

I wished they would give us more enemy links and more items in the Goodie Boxes
Have to wonder if there's some way to make copies of the goodie boxes using the the other skills, like Replication.
I managed to find a stock certificate, an item that gives 1 fol a minute, so I'm also interested in making copies of that if possible... but I remember from playing these types of games that you can literally make items that sell for insane amounts of money once you level up your skills high enough, so money ends up being essentially trivial.
I plan on experimenting when I've leveled up more.

I’ve been opening boxes for about an hour now and nothing good has come out of them, really disappointed, has anyone else experienced this? I’ve tried reloading, coming back into town later and just straight up spending thousands on clay just to get, well, crap. It’s not a game breaker by any means as I know it’s random but just frustrating when I don’t get anything good
Did they take the old man out of the game? I remembered this from the ps game and I got the thiefs glove as soon as it was availavle, but the old dude isnt here.
What if you don't have the option to create the goodie boxes?
Can you get more than 1 sword of marvels? Can they equip on other chars?

In the IC improvements menu press X (playing on Switch) to bring the upgrade all menu

Nice! Bloody Armor, plus HP Drain on the weapon would be great for a solo run, but need high HP for that first.
Well by the TIME you can even MAKE a bloody armor in THIS version Claude is likely to be at lv 100 WITH 9999 HP use the Marvel Sword ITSELF as your HP drain weapon Berserk Ring him ring of might him and he SHOULD do 9999 per hit (over 10,000) once you CAN remove the 9999 damage LV cap.
Bowman/Chisato can do this solo Bloody armors WITHOUT needing to MAKE a HP drain effect weapon the catch being the Weird/Phantom slayer weapon is used to KILL the Cave of Trials 5th floor boss in 1 hit but it also HAS a HP drain effect by default.

Lv 50 is good just NOT for Bloody armor abuse you need a MINIUM for 7000 max HP AND HP drain effect set to to the Marvel Sword that HP count Claude tends to get around lv 80 though by the time you max out the Biology skill AND make a Bloody armor Claude SHOULD still be at lv 100.
Gotta give them credit that they added more cheese to compensate for the increased difficulty.

test earlier...game have limit 20x only at all NPC now. maybe they saw your vid and nerf it...... [Edit] after I buy my 1st 20 clay, it will grey out.. then play some more.. come back or check other shop.. will have available to buy again, but this time i only see x10. Thanks for the guide! cheers!
Get the FOL from Cooking and selling. Don't upgrade Purity. Upgrade Training and Enlightenment. Once you unlock Fountain pens, use Writing to make books.
Can someone explain how to get Relax Perfume?
For those its actually buyable in Mars later in game around 2500 PER copy but NOT really worth it.
But its a good idea for a SOLO Claude run to have Opera/Ernest join since the fastest way to get fol is to still SELL the 2 Stolen battle suits off of Ernest for 24 MILLION each.

So for added hacks, in the main area of the castle you can steal a camera, you can get bird food from a guy in the plaza, use familiar to stock up on magic film, and bird food.
Get premium paper from a goodie box and make a counterfeit medal.
Reproduce unlimited counterfeit medals for super early lvl 100 lol

Too broken, I don't think that was possible in original version.
NO it was you either had to START with Nimble fingers in order to steal it from the same NPC outside of Mars's INN OR HAVE Artwork at lv 10 + have the Design Talent in order to make them yourself BUT on the PS1/PSP version you had a really low rate around 10% odds to make them yourself the same way via Artwork using Magical Clay.
BUT ONLY this R version allowed you to make 10 copies of ANY ITEM ALL at once on the other versions you could only do so 1 AT a time that and on the PS1/PSP version while I COULD easily get the Marvel Sword out of it the 1000 Attack weapon for Rena it almost NEVER gives it.
Don't install updates btw, they usually jerk us when they find a game-breaking thing but all this was meant to be discovered organically so in a sense this ruins the game for you
