Scenario 1: Gon's going to win in the end, but mid-high difficulty.
Reason: Despite Pitou stating that Gon's strength is now equal to the king, remember that Meruem in previous episodes hit Pitou with his tail with the intent to kill, but Pitou only took some damage but wasn't even phased. Compare that with Gon's initial kick, Pitou flew so high up before she (or he?) got wasted.
Scenario 2: Gon has a low chance of winning. Remember, Meruem moved from inside the castle to one of the Hunter's crew outside the castle's wall as soon as his En reached them, like its lightspeed. Nevertheless, Meruem will win in the end.
Note: Gon will win scenario 2 if we're to include Meruem having radiation poisoning from the nuke, I'm sure he can last until the radiation totally consume Meruem.
Gon’s contract wasn’t for enough power to beat Pitou. His contract was the end of his life in exchange for all his potential, which Killua only very narrowly offset. There’s no reason to expect that potential would be any greater for having a different target.

If there is a 1 month preparation then Meruem will win. He has unlimited potential. He will eat a lot of Nen user to strengthen himself.
That makes sense! With a month of preparation, Meruem would definitely have the upper hand. His limitless potential and the ability to absorb Nen users to grow stronger would give him a huge advantage.
