I know Andy and Siony personally and have been their guest twice, not as a patient but as a friend. I felt very comfortable, and their staff are also super friendly. Together they are one big family who know exactly what is important for Alzheimer's patients. They are the best at what they do because they have experience from their own family.
Great to see this actually happen, something so many expats talk about, this is the first proper attempt I've seen at providing a real facility run by a real long term stable family. I wonder if they plan to use this as a prototype for franchising?
Great video Tim! I would suggest that with the very large kitchen and patio seating area, until they get their beds full they open a restaurant and bed and breakfast to bring in some revenue. It would do a few things, they would be bringing in revenue to help with the costs of operation and it would be great marketing for their facility. The staff caring for the patients could easily monitor the patients so all are safe. They might also consider entertaining caring for expats who need different levels of care such as an assisted living facility. I think a lot of expats would be interested in this and may not want to return to their countries as they require more assistance and care as they age. Great couple! Good luck!! I love the service and it is well thought out.
what a great place. very noble idea for helping those needing care in later life. interesting to see how it will work in provincial philippines, especially if the target market is western retirees
There is a huge need for this in the states. Obviously for Expats who age alone in the Philippines this is viable option. I assume most return back to the states if they have the resources, collected by their families. With these types of facilities in the Philippines opening, it gives people an option for long term care. This isn't just memory care, it ensures those that wish to remain in the Philippines in their later years can do so assisted. Some Expats don't have children, or don't have children in the Philippines who can assist. I think this is a really good idea and one outside the normal.

What a caring and compassionate couple to help the elderly. It is hard work but rewarding. I'm sure they will do well. Here in the U.S., assisted living facilities are a joke. They will charge you an arm and a leg and do the basic human needs which is a far cry for what they need. Elder abuse, bed sores, etc are all too common occurences.
@@youngandfree93Not always. Many times people pay very high fees for their family members and get very subpar care. To say you get what you pay for is inaccurate at best.
@@tonymars1093 It's up to you to do the research and diligence. Every country with a large elderly population has them. In poor countries it's far worst sadly. Us Americans have it better than any other nation.
America does have better facilities than most countries but we also pay more than triple what other developed countries pay for the care. To say “you get what you pay for” IS NOT ACCURATE!!! Others in the comments were relating their experiences of loved ones who had substandard care. That may not have been your experience but it was theirs. As far as experience, I have worked in healthcare for 40 years and operated my own healthcare business for over 20 years. I have worked in many settings including dementia care. I have experienced first hand neglect of patients, understaffing and just poor care of patients at times. I have a little more experience to draw on than “My grandpa was in a facility and did just fine.” Their are countries like Thailand and others that are taking areas of healthcare and specializing in that area of care such as surgical procedures like total hip and knee replacement surgery which are pretty straightforward and do not have a lot of issues and marketing to foreign patients at much lower costs. I could see what this couple is doing becoming something like that. I think it could become very successful and a service that would be well received there to expats who are already in the Philippines.
Hey Tim. Teach Chrissy how to drive. I’m glad I taught my Filipino wife.. I stopped being a taxi driver. It took a bit of time but it was worth it for me.
How accidental: just some hours ago I asked the question if there are elderly homes/ hospices for westerners in The Philippines. Because these foreigners get old, have health issues and dementia. They have a pension to cover the costs.
Just a practical thing: elderly people have to climb those stairs ? No elevator? And some flat walkways for the stroller or wheelchair? And when they become bedridden: wide doors for hospital bed ? But I am sure Sony & Andreas will develop their business according necessities. Keep up the good work👍
Thank you for your kind words. We’re pleased to offer four accessible ground-floor apartments with wide doorways and no stairs. Our property also features flat pathways for easy navigation with strollers or wheelchairs.
Assisted Care business in the Philippines is a good idea if you provide the same, if not better amenities and services, than what they provide in the United States or Canada to expatriates.
😂😂😂 You obviously have never dealt with the extremely low level of American facilities that provide this care! And they charge a fortune for it. I decided to care for my mother at home for the final years of her life.

I have been thinking this business for sometimes, because since many Filipino nurses work in nursing home in the west, maybe it is possible to put up this business beside the beach, not sure though if westerners would be willing to send their elderlies to be cared here in PH.

Touch wood she is still living and breathing every single day after 4 years of this but Mind Diseases are awful for everyone. Bless you. My wife name is also Sony (37 years on marriage document).
I think filipino families take care of their own, no money for rest homes. I can't help but notice that this channel has gone from hot girls in 5 star hotels to rest home interviews. Is it a sign?
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It’s true that many Filipino families take care of their elderly at home, which is a beautiful tradition. However, we provide an option for families-especially those with loved ones living abroad or requiring specialized dementia care-that can be difficult to manage at home. Our residence offers a compassionate, personalized approach, blending Southeast Asian warmth with modern care tailored to the needs of people from Western cultures. We strive to create a family-like environment where every resident feels valued and respected. As for the change in the channel’s content, it reflects a focus on meaningful topics that impact people’s lives. We appreciate Tim K.'s effort to shed light on the importance of dementia care, which is becoming increasingly relevant everywhere. Thank you for engaging with the video!
